Fwoosh!

Over on the Conceptart.org Thunderdome, they're doing a 100 gestures in 1 week challenge. So I threw my whatever in, and as of tonight I'm at 82. I stopped because I was getting really goofy, as well as wanting to draw stuff like this instead:

So I did. But here's one from the pages of gestures that I really liked (and I'm using the word 'gesture' here to mean 'quick drawing that shows motion or emotion without too many details')...

Somebody bonked the werewolf on the nose. Sad, eh.

Sketchcrawl number ELEVEN!

Yesterday I spent the day in the bay area, with my fellow Sketchcrawlers. It was awesome, fun as always, and I have a number of drawings to post.

On the bart coming into San Francisco, where everyone met at the Ferry building before riding the ferry to Sausalito...

A seagull that was disturbingly interested in my olive, avocado, sprouts, and tofu sandwich (which is what happens when you haven't got any food in the house)...

There's this big fountain in Sausalito, and I sat on the steps that went up the hill opposite from it. Tour buses kept on blocking my view, though, so I ended up just drawing the people walking by way down on the sidewalk.

We all met up at a park later on in the day before taking the 5:00 ferry back to San Francisco.

And... the BART ride back to our car.

Doodles

Just loosening up from drawing all day with a blue pencil. I never thought I would lean so heavily on the colerase (which is killing my hand)... both figuratively and literally, since I have to press really really hard to get anything on paper. Maybe Prismacolor yellow or light blue has softer lead.

So yeah. Right now I'm freelancing for a videogame company in San Francisco, and giving my colerase pencils, so long dormant, a good run.

Enough talk, here's the stuff.

The wildebeest wants Indian food. So do I...

Aliens and horses!

Been busy finishing jobs, desperately securing jobs, and getting into the rhythm of new jobs the past three weeks or so. Everything's looking good... including this alien in a tutu. Lookin' SO good.

The top drawing is markers and mechanical pencils. I've always thought markers were ridiculously hard to control, but I guess if you know what you're going for before you start slapping color down (as I most often don't), they work out nice. Especially if the subject is a bright green alien who's supposed to look weird, and not a person who should have realistic skin color or something.

The Wildlife of Star Wars is amazing marker work. I've heard people say it's watercolor, but after close inspection, I firmly hold that it's marker.
