Pregnancy Diet

In the past few weeks I have had a decreasing appetite... not exactly what you would consider normal for a full-term pregnant woman, right? I was thinking about this last night and going through what I had eaten throughout the day, had a good laugh and thought it would make a good post. I don't think I've eaten a meal in about 2 months, just random (very random) snacks. Here we go:

6 am- wheat toast with peanut butter and 3 bites of Ben and Jerry's Toffee Ice Cream
9 am- handful of honey nut cheerios
10 am- string cheese
11 am- 2 squares of a thick, yummy Symphony chocolate bar
1 pm- bowl of frosted mini wheats
3 pm- apple
3:30 pm- glass of oj
4:45- a few pretzels and dried mango slices I found in my purse while I was waiting to pick up Cort from school
7 ish- cinnamon roll (great dinner, huh?)
9 ish- 5 strawberries

This poor kid is going to have no idea what real food is. Cort says I finally reached the pinnacle of pregnancy cravings/eating weird food.

Rattle and Roll

I put on my thinking cap yesterday to design a really cool birth announcement and since Cortney and I have a slight obsession with classic rock, I thought I was being really creative when I thought about making a birth announcement that emulated that. This isn't exactly what I had in mind, but I stumbled across this company while I was online today and thought this was a very cool idea. Janelle, are you up for some freelance work?:)

This is a company called Rattle-N-Roll. The deal is this... You send them a picture of your little guy, they draw a picture of him and place it in one of their templates and ba-da-bing, you've got yourself a concert poster looking baby announcement. Cool, huh?

A Mother's Plea

Dear Buckeye,

Hey little buddy! How are you holding up in there? Getting squished? How's the food been? Those tacos last night treat you right?

I hope you like the little ecosystem I've tried to create for you in there. You're always moving around and because you're inevitably getting bigger, I can always tell when you're moving:) They tell me you should be close to 5 lbs. now and that you're fully developed except for the finishing touches on your little lungs that you'll use to scream at us with.

Can mom ask one little favor of you, junior? Your dad and I just love you so much and can't wait for you to get here, but in the meantime, could you try really hard to not bruise mom's ribs? Those really sharp pains all day long aren't very fun, even though we know it's just your cute little toes getting caught in between mom's lungs and ribs, especially those ones where it feels like you're jabbing a key in between 2 ribs and trying to unlock them. I'm sure your little feet are so adorable and I promise we'll kiss them and give you little foot rubs all day long when you're out, but for the love of all things good and holy, can you just take a break from doing that for the next few weeks? Mom is really tired of it and Dad is really tired of hearing Mom complain about her ribs hurting.

And while we're asking favors, do you think you could come out a little early? Not early, like right now, but early like close to Dad's birthday. However much you love it in there, I promise we'll make up for it out here if you just come out! We'd really just appreciate it if you tried to not come during Dad's midterms.

Thanks honey.

Love,
Mom

The Slusser Posterity

The Slusser family produces grandkids faster than Letterman can come up with a joke. The buckeye will be my parent's 6th grandchild and as of yesterday, they learned they will have a 7th in October (courtesy my brother Jared). Now you might think, "7, that's not very many" and by all means, it isn't. But what sets these 7 apart from the rest is they will all be under 4.5 years of age:)

More the merrier! Congrats Jared and Tara! They are such great parents and this will only add more fun to their family.

And good luck to Grandma and Grandpa trying to have family gatherings...
