Grandpa Gruesome's Weird War Stories

 It's that time of year again! The veil between the living and dead is at it's thinnest. Time for the World Revenent Hunting Social Club to meet once again and clear the ruins of Old Baronburg of the pesky living Dead.

As usual, we used Fistful of Lead, with the Tales of Horror Supplement for all the horrific extras.

The Hunters gather at the center of town.

The more bold hunters move quickly to "shut down" the zombie spawn points while the other are too busy taking trophies and causing far too much noise.

All the commotion has awoken a banshee. Her mournful howl puts shock on all the hunters in the area.

As almost always happens, poor coordination between hunter faction allowed the dead to accumulate into large groups and overpower isolated hunters. About half escaped before the sun rise. A great game as always.

Grandpa Gruesome's Weird War Stories

 We had a great time this past weekend hosting a wargaming day full of spooky games.

I ran the Annual Revenant Hunt. Famous Hunters of the Undead from all over Europe gathered to destroy the latest outbreak of foul creatures that spill forth every Halloween. They were able to destroy 3 of the 6 spawn points before the sun approached and the gates to the Underworld closed once again. Sir Reginald Ramsey took home the trophy this year.

Next, another group of Adventurers visited Terror Island in hopes stealing a strange mutagen from the claws of the mighty Turu the Terrible. The flying dino proved to be a wily opponent. 

 

 

After a fine chili dinner, the wargamers gathered for a little backstabbing fun at the massive fantasy trick or treat game. Players had to visit as many locations as possible and receive treasure before returning home.

 

 While that was going on, there was another game that saw the Rebel forces call upon some dark magics to take on Union forces west of the Mississippi.

The Annual Revenant Hunt- a Tales of Horror adventure

 

“You are cordially invited to this year’s event of the season. The Annual Revenant Hunt and Fundraiser for St Agatha’s Home for Unfortunate Children. It‘s that time of year again!

The dead have risen and the best Hunters from around the world have gathered to hunt them down and return them permanently to the grave.”

 

 Things started out well for the hunters. Few zombies were appearing, and those that did were easily dispatched.

 

But then, something changed in the air. Zombies were appearing it seemed everywhere. With a screeching sound of rusty cemetery gates, a grat beast made of gravestones and tombs appeared! 

 

This creature dispatched a few underlings before being held in place by a few heroes. Three spawn points were destroyed which seemed to severely weaken the creature.

Just as the tide seemed to be turning back in the Hunter's favor, another Dark Lord appeared, Baron Blackheart, the Vampire Lord. He was soon followed by a werewolf and a shrieking ghost.

 The Hunters managed to destroy half the spawn points before dawn, but by then it was too late. The Revenant horde was loose!
