Febcon and other events

So a few weekends ago my friends and I headed up to Ithaca, NY for a Young Single Adult conference called Febcon. It was held at Cornell University, and we had a great time! We missed Friday activities since we all got off a little later than planned and therefore hit traffic, but met a few people that night and found out which members house we were going to be staying at. Saturday was full of different activities and classes, we did a service project and then a dance that night. Then on Sunday we went to the family ward sacrament meeting and had separate YSA meetings after. The Mission President spoke to us who randomly is from Cedar City and I went to high school with their daughter. Also one of my friends from BYU her dad was my bishop Freshman and Sophomore year is on her mission there! What a fun surprise! We made a lot of really great friends, and I would definitely have to say my favorite party was the super sweet dance party on Saturday night!! AHHH they played all the greatest songs!
fun new friends. The one on the left is going to Morristown mission and leaves in a month!

I'm so black...

Sister Zwick! Isn't she so cute :)

In other news, the kids and I have done some fun things. We made, decorated, and delivered cupcakes to friends, Heleyna went to her first primary activity, we had another HUGE snowstorm where we basically couldn't leave the house although I think they were a little more prepared this time because they actually kept up with the plowing...anyway I decided to suck it up and play in it. So in my jeans I went out a built a big snowman with the kids, I'm kind of hoping this will be the last snowstorm and that is why I decided to go play in it. haha
Fist primary activity after the "olympics" with her medal and skier dude.
This is Mille, isn't she adorable! AHHH she belongs to one of
my favorite families that I get to baby-sit for.
Lindsay is in my sunbeam class. We are best friends :)

did I mention I got a perm and it was disastrous...yeah this is was basically the only day I wore it curly before I realized what a mess it was....
Aren't they adorable!?
our snowman. Braden was kind of done falling in the snow at this point. It's kind of hard for him to walk once you get all the gear on. haha

We also went bowling last Friday night and had a great time.

My response when I should have done better...

Saturday morning I was able to get up early and take the train into the city to go to the temple, my friend Lauren and her mom who was in town met up with me. AHH it was so great to finally be able to go, I have been trying for awhile, but it had never worked out. That night we had another multi-stake YSA activity where of course there was a dance party only the best part is I actually know people better so I don't feel bad asking slash suggesting they play "better" songs haha needless to say they pretty much used my ipod the whole dance. :)

the clean up crew

Also last Sunday some great friends from home invited me over to their house for Sunday dinner. Bonnie Dangerfield Tanner and her husband live out here and it's only about 40 min away from where I live. It was so fun to see them and great to be with friends.

This weekend has been pretty relaxing. When I got off work last night I baby-sat for one of my favorite families in the ward (Millie). Then this morning I was able to SLEEP IN and then got to go running OUTSIDE! AHHH such a great day! I was able to get things done this afternoon and hang out with Tabby for a little bit before I had to baby-sit for another family. Then tomorrow me, Olivia, and Lydia are going into the city to one of the singles wards for church. It will be fun to meet more people and maybe even see some friends from BYU that live out here now.

Crossing things off....

Well my weekend started out a little on the dull side, but don't fret because it got more exciting! Friday night was spent baby-sitting for a family in the ward. Apparently the word is out that I will also be willing to baby-sit even though I nanny all day so a few families in the ward have been calling me. I actually don't really mind, it's a great way to get to know them better!

Saturday morning started early with me first having to clean the church. so lucky! Then I quickly caught the 9:30 train into the city. The other girls missed the train at their stop so I got off and waited with them. Anyway we finally made it into the city around 12, which meant we had missed the lottery tickets drawing for In the Heights. We were pretty bummed, but decided to just catch the later show, but then the nice man at the ticket office said he would give us a discounted ticket price for the obstructed view seats. We were all over that! So we got our tickets and decided to kill some time at the M&M factory before the show started. Gotta love it! We took some classic pictures and headed back to the theater.

finding out my color!

The show was AMAZING!!! AHHH so funny, incredible music, and just an all around great show! I definitely recommend it to everybody! Another exciting thing about the show is this week is they changed the lead role and it is now played by......wait for it.....CORBIN BLEU! yeah that's right the attractive black kid from High School Musical! I know amazing, right!? haha anyway we were pretty excited about it and after the show the cast came out and signed everybody's playbill and took pictures so of course we stuck around and got a few pictures. In fact Corbin was super nice and stuck around 'til the very end. We got to talk to him for about 20 min or so.

Yeah, that's Corbin Bleu. No big deal!

Right after the show Priscila (or minnie as some people like to call her) had to get home so we walked back with her to Penn Station and then walked back up to Times Square to eat dinner and go to a movie. We had heard that seeing a movie in the city was pretty exciting and it was another thing on my list of things to do while I live on the east coast so we decided to see "When in Rome". It was a great, clean, fun movie and we were on like the 13th floor or something ridiculous like that. It was fun and exciting! All in all it was a fantastic day!!

Yesterday my sunbeam class actually went really well. The bishops wife was in there to help me and it was so much better because I wasn't trying to keep eight 3 year olds sitting still and listening. hahaha I also went over to the Oates home again to help cook and eat dinner. I hadn't seen them or been over there since before Christmas so it was fun! Sister Oates is so great and it was a blast to be over there again!
