for the greater good

i have finally finished reading it!

i only started reading harry potter book 7 - the deathly hallows last sunday. i had to cram reading it in the evenings after work.

as much as i'd like to finish it off soon, i had to hold it off since i still have work the following day.

well, now i can finally say that it is done, i've finished reading it, and it was the best! it was a great ending to the series.

i've followed the book since book 1 the and same goes with the movies. no spoilers here but what a twist it was! j.k rowling outdid herself with this last installment.

now i can't wait to see the remaining 2 movie interpretations...

i've been tagged

by diane.

so here are my answers:

culinary guilt: i love pasta! spaghetti is my all time favorite! i also love ice cream (chocolate)!

literary guilt: harry potter books! and john grisham novels. although i haven't been able to read much of his recent works. oh, and did i say, scrapbook magazines?!

audio visual guilt: it's american idol time once more! i've been influenced on this thing by my hubby two years ago. oh, and csi and grey's anatomy. for a time, i used to watch the fantaseryes at gma 7 - enkantadia fanatic! lol! oh, and i love cartoons - lots of disney & cartoon network stuff!

musical guilt: i honestly don't have one. i'm not a "musically" inclined person. it's more like, anything goes.

celebrity guilt: brendan fraser! i so like that guy!

who will be the next american idol?

elliott yamin was voted out last night. the battle now begins for the 2 remaining american idol hopeful, katharine mcphee and taylor hicks.

i would have wanted the final 2 to be a battle between elliott and taylor, but america felt otherwise. so now, the battle is on. can't wait to see who wins next week!

i hope taylor wins!

the da vinci code

finally, i was able to watch the much talked-about movie of the year, the da vinci code. i've read the book written by dan brown and it only took me a few days to finish it. and now that i've seen the movie, i can say that i like the book more. as always is the case on book-based movies. but, it doesn't mean the movie is not good! it actually is very truthful to the book, except probably for a few minor details and the variation at the last part. overall, i give it a 5-thumbs up.

initially though, i was envisioning a different actor to play robert langdon. but upon seeing the movie last night, tom hanks did a great job of filling the shoes of robert langdon. he's a great actor so no questions about his acting anymore.

by the way, this movie has been talked-about for almost 2 weeks already. a lot of sectors especially some religious groups have been raising concerns about showing the movie here in the philippines. but why? knowing how we humans think, the more we're told not to watch it, the more we'll be curious about this. isn't this why adam & eve was banished from the garden of eden?! because they got curious!

regardless of its classification, i'm sure a lot of people will watch this movie.

personally, i feel that if your faith is strong enough, nothing can dissuade you from what you believe in.

the hippies won!

the hippies won in the amazing race 9 against the frat boys and ray & yolanda!

the deciding factor came down to who had the better brains. the last task was to line-up all the flags of the countries they've been to and it has to be done chronologically. the frat boys were ahead of the hippies. but, they forgot the sequence and which flag of the 3rd & 4th to the last country they've been to.

the hippies decided to get all the flags first before they arranged the flags accordingly. and arrange it, they did! bj did it for the hippies!

i've been an avid follower of the amazing race and i truly like this show. there have been times that i've missed to follow it, still, i make sure i know who's leading the pack and who actually won.

for this season, i've seen the adventures of the participants and i was really rooting for the hippies, bj & tyler. i like them. they are such free-spirited individuals. and though this is a race, you can see that they tried to savor and enjoy every experience. be it the road blocks and the detours or the varied personalities of the other racers they came across.

and to think these guys were almost sent home packing. they finished last in 2 non-elimination races and they survived it and even came out as winners.

hip hip hooray for bj & tyler!
