Help me find a Necromunda Delaque Leader please

OK, I give up! For months I've been trying to get the one miniature I need to complete my collection of first edition Necromunda Delaque gangers.

I've watched a few sell on eBay for frankly stupid sums and I'm neither inclined nor sufficiently wealthy to pay upwards of $40 plus postage for one 28mm miniature.

If anyone has this miniature in their collection and is willing to part with it for a sensible price / trade please let me know.

Millsy

Paint Table Saturday

Time for another edition of Paint Table Saturday on the blog. First up a welcome to Byron who joins the crew since our last shout out. G'day mate and welcome aboard!

This week I've been working to finish off the remaining miniatures from my Necromunda Cawdor gang. That's all done bar varnishing and basing. Thankfully they'll lose the gloss finish imparted by the ink and such.

And now that they're done I've started work on some Flames of War MW German Grenadiers. To begin with I'm working my way through the 12cm mortar platoon...

These are actually Forged in Battle miniatures as opposed to the official Battlefront ones. They're substantially cheaper but at least with the FiB material I've bought to date it's a case getting what you pay for. There were a large number of poor castings and overall I'd have to rate them a 4/10 with a few maybe at 5 or 6. The worst part of these was the repairs and new parts needed to be made for the mortars themselves. Perhaps the molds are on the way out?

Don't get me wrong, Battlefront and not the duck's nuts either by any stretch of the imagination but at least their castings are invariably pretty clean. Fortunately I've got pretty much everything I need for the army so I don't have to go through this again.

Paint Table Saturday

Things are moving at a leisurely pace here at Chez Mills for a change. The last few weeks of mad painting for our big Napoleonic bash has left me a bit brush-weary so I'm just cruising through some small jobs to finish projects until I feel like diving back in properly.

This weekend I've been working on the last six of my Necromunda Cawdor miniatures and an odd bounty hunter. Here's the progress so far with a couple of already completed figs in the foreground to show where I'm heading.

Those who are curious can view the majority of the completed gang on this post. Once these remaining figs are done I'll have 22 gang members including at least one of every miniature produced. The good thing about having so many is I can also use them as a penal unit for my Imperial Guard 40K army once that gets off the ground.

Millsy

Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

Time for another yearly round-up as we see off 2013 and welcome 2014. This has been a bumper year for the blog, more than quadrupling our followers and adding another 77 posts which is 18 more than the previous year. Maybe with a little help we'll crack the 100 per annum?

So did things go according to Glorious Plan Millsy in 2013? I think you already know the answer is a resounding NO! Here's what I had planned...
  • Some more ECW, mostly command stands plus a unit of dragoons
  • A division of Saxons in 15mm for my Napoleonic force
  • The remaining grenadier platoons for my Flames of War MW German Grenadiers
  • About 30 or so 28mm Napoleonics for Cory and I for skirmish games
  • and finally...
  • A very large number (200+) 28mm imagi-nation troops for both Evan and myself
ECW command stands worked out well but the dragoons were a total write-off. In fact I sold the Warlord miniatures and haven't replaced them as Renegade are not shipping at present. Best we don't mention the Napoleonic Saxons at all. Or the Grenadiers for that matter. The 28mm Napoleonics got a fair bit of love but there are more to go. The 28mm imagination troops did get a decent look in but there are piles more of those to do also.

So if I didn't complete even half my intended projects what DID get done? Here's a quick pictorial review...

It's fair to say I've knocked off a LOT of stuff, not least a sizable unplanned 40K Space Marine force, the best part of a Dystopian Wars Kingdom of Britannia fleet, almost all of an Oldhammer Undead army, an entire 28mm dark age village, a complete Necromunda Cawdor gang and a slew (is that the right word?) of seemingly random stuff. Almost all of which WASN'T in the plan. I even wrote the darn thing down to help! Oh well ;-)

Stay tuned for Glorious Plan Millsy 2014. Guaranteed it won't survive contact with the enemy either...

Basing, a Prince's New Coat and a Warning from the UN

Hello all. Something of a mixed bag to finish the weekend...

First up, I've finished the last couple of odd Necromunda figs I was working on and based the lot up. Remember to click for larger versions of the image.

Secondly, Grand Prince Dmitry IV Dmitrovich of Velikye Byelgorodniya has a new coat! Click away to read all about it.

And finally, the UN met recently and have added a new item to their list of prohibited terror weapons. Henceforth it will be illegal under the Geneva Convention to allow small children to roll dice on behalf of grown men. You have been warned.

More Necromunda on the workbench

It's raining! Hurrah! At last, after all the hot dry weather and bushfires it is RAINING and RAINING HARD. The direct result of that, however, is that I can't varnish anything. And the direct result of that is the only other thing to do is keep painting.

Consequently I've been doing something I very rarely do - painting for the sole pleasure of painting itself. Normally I bash away at stuff at high speed, driven my desire to see things complete and on the table.
With the Necro figs I'm working on at the moment though I have settled into a steady rhythm and am really enjoying them. So what's been done???

Firstly, a couple of official Necromunda bounty hunters, a spare plastic 40K dude and a random fig I can't for the life of me identify. The first three are all yours to name Evman. Number four I've already taken care of...

TBA, TBA, TBA and No Way Jose aka "The Remonstrator"

Rear view of the above

Next is a couple of 40K Imperial guardsmen and a pair of proper Necromunda gangers. Numbers one and three have both had their heads gleefully hacked from their shoulders and replaced with something less akin to their true nature. Hopefully that disguises them a little. If not, who cares anyway? Name away Evman...

Head-swapped Valhallan, Valhallan, head-swapped Cawdor heavy and Orlock

Rear view of the above

I've got one more 40K Catachan and an old-skool plastic gretchin to go. There are also a couple of Mordian Guard with special weapons left over which I can't decide what to do with. Trade? Paint anyway?

Lastly, before my manners desert me the heartiest of welcomes to Neil Andrews, Geoff K and Danisnotatree who take the follower count to 137.

Millsy

Workbench update

Still preoccupied with Necromunda I've been painting some of the Hired Guns from the original game,
in this instance the Underhive Scum. These guys are now ready for varnishing and basing. In the background you can see a couple of Bounty Hunters, a random fig from another system and a 40K Imperial Guard fig I somehow acquired. They may as well get painted and used as extra Hired Guns if required.

Hired guns. Names anyone? The guy on the left is definitely a "Fabio"...

I've also been reading back through the rules and a pile of the old PDFs and supplemental stuff that was released in various magazines. Unfortunately all that enthusiasm has led to me looking over my existing paint jobs and decide they are simply not good enough. Consequently my Delaque have already been stripped and my Pit Slaves (below) are also going in the Simple Green soon.

Pit slaves. A hole mess of em...

And that's it for now, except to welcome aboard Conrad Kinch and Legatus Hedlius!

Cheers,
Millsy

Necromunda Cawdor Gang Complete!

I finished the painting on these Necromunda chappies some 10 plus days ago. In an effort to maintain interest I tried something I don't often do - a more stark and high contrast painting style / colour scheme. I figured it suited the genre and I was up for something new.

So after over a week of doing nothing at all in terms of modelling I have *finally* managed to squeeze in a couple of small sessions at the modelling workstation. I wanted to put an extra effort into the basing so they look like they are fighting over the blasted wasteland that is the Underhive. Consequently we have broken pipes, masonry and all manner of robotic and other mechanical detritus lying amongst the ash, dirt and grass.

So here they are, Macbeth's Maulers in all their glory.

Leader, Heavies and Specialists including Long Rifle conversion.
Poor photo composition with a sword thrust up the hooter for poor old heavy stubber guy!

Juves, including a leader with a broken sword arm who has been demoted to the lowest ranks...

One final shot

And before I forget my manners, welcome to czaki, James Fisher and Carl...
