Flowers at Madison Creek Farms

Oh, Summer how art thou! I am so happy to see you have finally arrived in my part of the world.
With warm, sunny days and bright blue skies filled with fluffy white clouds drifting aimlessly.
The bees buzzing, the butterflies flitting and the beautiful flowers blooming in the gardens.

Just a quick post of one of the flower images I captured today at Madison Creek Farm in Goodlettsville. Their gardens were buzzing feverishly with tons of bees feasting on Zinnias and Sunflowers and Poppies. I lost my light as a weather front was moving in, but wanted to share this image as I especially liked the composition. ENJOY!

Dog Days, Bernheim Arboretum

Summer is winding down here in Mid America. Already there is a chill in the air at night. As I headed out of Louisville this past weekend, I stopped for a brief visit at Bernheim.

Many of Summer's blooms have already waned, but there were still a few flowers hanging on all around the Pavilion. Bumble Bees were swarming a long row of bushes along the walkway leading away from the Pavilion. Supposedly, this is the Seven Son flower. I don't remember seeing it in bloom in Summers' past. The Bumble Bees were all over the blooms like maniacs.

My niece's wedding went off without a hitch. The newlyweds are in Jamaica this week on their Honeymoon. Fortunately, Hurricane Danny hasn't posed a threat. And I don't believe the hurricane that's tracking right behind Danny will either as it seems to be taking the same path as Danny and will no doubt head up the Eastern seaboard. Hope you are having a great week. It's been in the mid eighties here in Nashville this week with very low humidity and I am so very, very grateful. I'm also off deadline and hoping to get out later this week and take a few more images. ENJOY!

The Pollen & The Bee

He's rather busy, wouldn't you say?

Two amazing specimens of nature I wanted to share with you today. The first being this very busy 'nature's pollenator' or in more technical terminology, Agapostemon Virescens. And secondly, the intricate pattern woven into a bloom, the yellow Sunflower. I took these images very very late this afternoon on my way back home from a trip to Bardstown for business. As it happens, I couldn't resist doing a late lunch at Isaac's Cafe at Bernheim and spending the last few minutes of my lunch hour taking just a few images along the parameter of the wildflower meadow. The meadow was sadly, and most disturbingly, dry. ENJOY!

I gave this image a slightly artsy feel. Just a little something to get your weekend off to a great start. Oh, and in case you think I've forgotten, if you're like most of the United States, whew, it's hot! ENJOY!

Purple Coneflowers in Bloom!

Lucky me! The Purple Coneflowers are in bloom at Bernheim. As are the yellow ones. The bees are buzzing like crazy. Hope your week is going well because it's going to be a short one. Yippee! ENJOY!
