The Table Transfer

I shared on Instagram, a few months back, that I had moved our table into the "piano room" once we put down laminate flooring. I can not remember if I posted here, so just in case I did not, I moved our table into the "piano room." You're welcome. ;)

I liked the switch, but it took up the space we were used to having as a walk-thru. Brittany mentioned moving the table off to the side, but I couldn't try it until after the Christmas chaos was put back into place.

I'm kinda really liking it!

Of course, that meant I had to move some wall décor.

You probably remember my giant chalkboard that used to be in the kitchen.

Now I have to find something for that wall. It's a vicious cycle in this house, I'm tellin' ya!

We bought this table at a yard sale right after we were married. Hubs gave a it a fresh sanding and coat of stain last fall. Looks much better than my "wing-it" job. I'm pretty sure we've gotten our 10 bucks worth.

The toolbox was found in my hubby's grandparents' barn. Those trusty Ikea plants made great filler. BTW...they are $2 cheaper than last year...just a free plug. HA!

If you're paying attention, you'll see a sneak peak of something else we switched up.

Sending spring thoughts,

Upstairs Find

The carpet upstairs had reached its prime. We'll just leave it phrased that way.

Hubs had talked to a guy that lived here as a kid and he remembered there being hardwood floors. You know what that means. We commenced ripping and tearing out. Sure enough! It needs some work, but I'm contemplating painting it for less work.

I have talked with fellow bloggers about what they used and how it held up, so I'm leaning further toward that being my decision. They had positive things to say, if you use the right paint and follow instructions.

There is not much natural light up here because of the roof line only allowing small windows. It would lighten the area up, which would make my heart happy.

Naturally, that led to switching things up a little around my desk.

The majority came from yard sales.

It's Fall Y'all!

I'm seeing Christmas stuff popping up in all the stores, and I'm just like, wait, what did I miss here, has fall even got here yet??? We're still having 90 degree weather here in the beautiful south. And this girl ain't complaining. Nosiree. I'm loving it. Those cold dreary days when the kiddos get crazy wild with cabin fever will come soon. enough.
My fall decor is pretty simple, nothing fancy here. I love my neutrals and lately I've had the urge to purge. I'm loving simple styles, and I'd love to lose some of my clutter!

Yeah, this piccy has nothing to do with fall, there's nary so much as a pumpkin in it.
But Ollie was just so cute...
Humor me.

If things go like they have for the last 15 years, my notorious black thumb of death will have it's way with the mums and they'll be conked out in no time. But still I try...

I needed a new table out here on the porch so I asked hubby to bring a spool home from work. (And he did, cuz he's sweet like that.) I just love it! I probably love it even more because it was free. Haha! Aren't free things just the best??
So I'll just be sittin' out here enjoying these last warm summer days, sippin' on my sweet tea, and whenever fall decides to actually show up, I'm ready for it.

Bye Bye Nursery....

...Hello big boy room! My youngest is 5, and the poor guy was still sleeping in a crib converted to toddler bed, so yeah, it was time. We had so much fun putting this space together. He loves fish, and anything having to do with ocean life, so when I saw this quilt set on Zulily, I knew it would be perfect for him.

This little guy has been thoroughly enjoying his big bed! It's so cute to see him in it, it makes him look so little. I found the vintage tube style bed on craigslist, and spray painted it a pretty aqua blue color. Oh my goodness, I just love it! It just makes the whole room.

We hung 3 vintage skateboards, that we got from various places, over his bed.
The Roll -n- Surf one is my absolute favorite. Love that gorgeous color!

I just gotta tell you, if you need good storage, this little storage unit is $37 at Walmart and you would not believe how big the cubed bins are, we've got tons of stuff in there! And it makes a perfect little nightstand. I was also thrilled to find the lamp, in the exact same color as the bed, at T.J. Maxx.

He has really become interested in drawing lately, so we hung a vintage chalkboard down low on the wall so he could have a drawing space. He has really been enjoying that. And it always makes me smile when I go in there and see his latest piece of art. I asked him to draw a picture on it before I took pictures for this post. He says, Sure! And then he proceeded to write a huge HO on there. He said it's an O and an H! I'm like yeah, but in that order I'm afraid it's not super appropriate for a blog post... LOL!

The big whale on the wall, the W, and the whale frame were all from Hobby Lobby, on sale or with a coupon, of course!

So that's it - a whale of a big boy room! It's always kinda sad when you put away all the sweet nursery things, but it's also fun to watch them grow up, too.

Kitchen Flooring

Well, I cleaned my kitchen, so I thought I'd take some pictures to document the rarity. I wish I was kidding...

My favorite hubby got the new flooring put in. I. LOVE. IT. It's from Lowe's and I'm 99% sure it's called Harvest Chestnut. It's a laminate, but it has several colors and details to resemble an older hardwood. Which translates to, it helps hide the dirt! And, since the cleaning has already been documented as rare, this is a must.

Isn't it purdy?? Sigh...

Since we replaced the white linoleum with a darker color, it did close in the space a little more, but there is a lot of natural light in there, so it's all good.

I'm thinking that I eventually want to add an island with some bar stools. This would give me some more counter space to prep things and then we could take out the table and chairs. I have plans for hubby to build me a farmhouse table to go in the dining room/piano room. So many plans, so little time.

I had been wanting one of these scales FOREVER and Décor Steals finally had one as the deal of the day.

My latest yard sale purchase: $0.50 rolling pins. The lady asked what I was going to do with them thinking I had something crafty planned. Hubs told her, "Beat me with them." HA! We'll see how the farmhouse table persuasion goes and I'll let you know if his fortune came true. I kid, I kid! That dude is awesome!

And, for those who like to see the progress pictures:

Love it!

Office Revamp

I switched a few things around to put my office area back together again. I had everything on hand, just shopped the house.

 Thrifted Items:
Chalkboard
Paper Holder
Box
Filing Cabinet
Letter Press Tray
Desk

This area is at the top of our stairs. It usually serves as a "catch-all," instead of an actual desk. It feels good to get it organized. Again.
