Random Crap & Thoughts

So, I was trying to come up with a new Donna Troy themed header, so ComicsAllTooReal's Chris would get off my back (not really, cuz he bites well). And somehow I went off on some bizarre tangent and this came out of it:
Don't even ask me, cuz I have no idea...
Why is it: that in this day and age, when most brand new TV series come out in box sets priced around $40-50, and you can usually find them on sale for $20-40...That Star Trek: Voyager, a show I really want on DVD, still costs over $60 a season, on sale!!?
WTF? Doesn't Paramount realize they might actually make some money on their stuff if it was affordable? Because I'm going to end up buying it used, and they won't get a penny of my money...

Speaking of used:
I was at McKay's (awesome used book, DVD, CD, video game store) a couple of days ago and picked up a couple cool things.
I finally got Kenneth Johnson's follow up to V, V: The Second Generation. If I read books more regularly, I'd be excited to jump into this. But it'll probably collect dust for a least a few months...
I also picked up an old Catwoman novel, which from what I can figure out online might be subtitled "Tiger Hunt," but there's nothing on my copy to indicate that.
I also picked up Showcase Presents: Legion of Super Heroes Vol. 2 for $4! I don't love the silver-age Legion enough to pay $17 for it, but $4 is worth it. LOL

Oh yeah, and HAPPY EASTER!!

Green Fury the green-flamed hero

You know Dazzler,

Wind Dancer,

The Prancer,

And Vixen.

Comet,

And Cupid,

Dick Donner,

And Blitzen.

But do you recall
The most famous Super-Friend of all?

Fury the green-flamed hero,
Had a very fiery nose.
And if you ever saw it
You would surely say it blows.

All of the other heroes
Used to laugh and call her names.
They never let Green Fury
Join the super hero games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say:
"Fury, with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

This made the others jealous,
And they shouted out meanly:
"Fury the green-flamed hero,
Your power's disgusting!"

Archie's Everything...

Well, okay, we really don't see all that much "everything" of Archie (here in one of his very early appearances), but his buddy there...hoo, boy!

PEP COMICS #24 (February 1942)

I wonder...if they ever do an Archie Archive, will this panel get censored?

Now we're going to steal an idea from Adam @ Comics Make No Sense:

Fun with Dialogue Out of Context!
(See how I moved the words around to avoid trademark infringement, lol, nifty!).
From the same above comic:

Dang. Sometimes I'm just a bad man...

325 Posts!!

I realized a couple of weeks ago that I missed celebrating the 1st anniversary of Comics 'N Things (which would've been back in May!). So I've patiently waited for some number to come up to celebrate with. And I didn't want to wait until 350 or 400 because, basically, I'm impatient! LOL. Plus, by then, I probably would've forgotten. So this is what you get! Yay! 325 posts!

The Perplexity of Rainbow Boy

Rainbow Boy is quite the interesting character.

His name and the fact that his power is "the brilliance of [his] rainbow..." all point to one thing. He's got to be gay.

I've known quite a few gay men who seem to have that power.

The problem is that rainbows didn't become "gay" until around 1978, and Rainbow Boy debuted in 1942. So the whole rainbow motif doesn't really support any conjecture on that part.

What does make a case for his fairy-ness is that fact that every time he enters a room, he comes flitting in like he's doing some ballet:

Please, girlfriend.
Hydroman and Gruno don't seem too thrilled by his flamboyance...

One the other hand: Rainbow Boy is a DICK!

In the story I ran a few weeks back, Rainbow Boy helps save the earth from invasion by kidnapping the alien general and taking him around to show how being a dictator is a bad thing. Here's a look at the horrors they encountered:

Now the problem with this is... Rainbow Boy let all those people DIE!

Yes, he is trying to prove a point, but couldn't he have proven it by "Look at what they're about to do...now excuse me while I go rescue those people!" But he makes no attempt. I'm surprised he didn't bring along popcorn for the show.

And he's practically smiling in panel four when he says, "I'm going to show you more!" With an explanation point...

Yippee! Let's go!!

Rainbow Boy is a bad bad person. He may have saved the world from an alien attack, but my conclusion is he's still to evil too be gay.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
