Doctor Who.Robot 2

Cycling through my various projects I have found myself back on Doctor Who.
Back with the Robot Project, I have started on the rest of my SRS troops (some more WW2 NKVD) and felt it was time to bite the bullet and get some companions and Doctors done!

First off is Sarah Jane Smith. The outfit is from her time with the Third Doctor and the photo I used as a guide from The Time Warrior

Next is Harry Sullivan with the guide photo from The Ark in Space

Not actually in the RObot story but had K9 to hand so added him

The Doctor at last! This will be my first Doctor for the collection and have matched him up with photos from the episode

This costume went through quite a lot of tweaks throughout the series such as the scarf becoming a red cravat but wanted to get it as close as possible to the story

Production photo but perfect scarf guide!

The whole Team.

Now back to green...SRS and then UNIT!

Doctor Who. Cybermen 1.

The lsat time I looked at my Doctor Who figures it was the Cybermen that got the attention, I am sure the demanding paint job had nothing to do with it!
With the latest reboot I went back over and rebased them and finished off the remaining figure in my collection rather than build around a particular story. Ideally I will have a unit for each era.

CyberLeader and Trooper

Cyber Controller and trooper from Tomb of the Cybermen.

Unit of Cyber Workers (?) based on the partially converted units from Attack of the Cybermen.
Figures are from Crooked Dice

Cyberforce

To give the Cyberforce a bit of heavy support, especially of they go up against the SRS, I have acquired another figure from Eaglemoss.
The Cyberking is obviously out of scale for 28mm but will stand as a small one Cyberman controlled 'Knight' Class Cyberking

Doctor Who. Robot 1

I have been watching a lot of old Doctor Who episodes recently which has inspired me to dig out my Doctor Who project boxes as a break from terrain building.
My first project will be based on teh Fourth Doctor story Robot

Robot was the first Tom Baker story and featured him and his companions with the aid of UNIT pitted against the Scientific Reform Society and the Titled Robot!
The Scientific Reform Society or SRS led by the dominating and ruthless Hilda Winters presented as twist on the Nazis, a paramilitary group bent on world dominion but fuelled on the belief that the intellectually superior/scientists should rule.
The Story allows the creation of an interesting force to counter the UNIT troops with the bonus of the giant Robot itself while the story provides bunkers and scientific Laboratory, SRS rallies and warehouses as terrain inspiration.
The science/logic angle could also be used to easily create other stories and ties in other classic Doctor Who villains like the Cybermen

Hilda Winters and henchman Jellico in full SRS regalia.

The Robot

The SRS troop figures are repainted Soviet NKVD troops from the Black Tree Designs WW2 range while the figure of Hilda Winters was from a Pulp heroin set from Pulp figures (the set had several other uniformed figures which i plan to use as Hilda's daughter and other female SRS members)

The Strong green will help to differentiate them from UNIT figures

Detail of the SRS armbands

Professor Kettlewell and R1 Robot.
Both from Black Tree Designs. The Robot has had some conversion, I extended the lower legs to give it more height.

SRS and R1 Robot

In the story the Robot is made from living metal and expands. The larger figure is a collectable resin piece made by Eaglemoss. The figures has been rebased and repainted

Bloodbath. The Vile Rune Orcs

Orctober is upon us and it is enough of an excuse to open up my Bloodbath at Orcs Drift project box and try and get a little further along.

I have previously posted the start of the Vile Rune Orcs and the other characters completed for my  first command sheet. The remaining 30 Orcs have finally been completed and I was down to the banner. Numerous failed attempts later , I settled on a scaled down version that the unit will carry and plan on printing a copy of the originals and mount them on their own bases.

Going for old school Tomato puree, the last best attempt before I gave up in disgust!

Settled on a simpler version with each of the Vile Runes

The full forty...

The unit is made up of metal miniatures from several Citadel eras and also a unit of spears I picked up from Black Tree Designs.
Bloodbath features three Orc tribes and although i could reuse the one unit for all of them i want to be  able to give each tribe its own character and colour scheme.

I also need to pick up some regiment bases and will probably run them as two 20 boy units rather than as one big mob!
