Spencer started his first day of kindergarden last week! He attends Estes McDoniel Elementary. It is an international elementary school. What IS that you ask? In all grades, including kindergarden, the students are taught half the day regular curriculum in English and the second half is entirely in Spanish! Spencer has been very excited to start school. He simply can't get enough socialization and his is THRILLED to be learning Spanish. Cal picked Spence up after school his first day (I'm still not quite up to doing that yet...). Spence threw open the door and said, "Hola amigos!" The next day I heard him singing some song in broken spanish. I couldn't catch much, but the song kept ending in, "Fantastico!"
Spencer was not the least bit nervous about school. The night before he set out his clothes on the floor the same way I remember doing. Shirt, pants below, complete with socks, shoes and coordinating accesories. He had a hard time falling asleep, complaining that his stomach hurt. Cal thought maybe he was nervous about school and approached the subject with much sensetivity. The following is their conversation:
Dad: Mom says your stomach hurts.
Spence: Yeah. It's just keeping me awake. I can't sleep.
Dad: Are you...(long pause)...nervous about...anything?
Spence: (confused look on face, shrugging his shoulders) Like what?
Looks like WE are the real nervous ones!
Sporting the BATMAN backpack.

Spencer, how do you REALLY feel about your first day of school?
Grant ALSO started a neighborhood preschool this week. It's a good thing, too, because watching his brother go to school every day has made Grant want to do it too! So...
Here's Grant on HIS first day of school. He's pleased as punch and very excited to have a backpack like Spencer does. :) My boys are growing up... I am glad to have a routine again. I'm starting to get the hang of life with 3 boys, and nothing makes me get up and ready like having to be somewhere! :)
