Lasting Memories #67 - "Sentimental" Journey

Good morning and happy Sunday to you all,

Today's layout for the Lasting Memories post is all about Sentiments.  Titles, to me, are the most important part of a layout.  Sometimes just the title is enough for me and I don't add journaling.  I suppose I should so that others may know why I scrapped the pictures or the story behind them, but sometimes I just don't feel the need.  This layout is of my daughter and granddaughter at Thanksgiving
I used the MyMemories Suite V3 again.  I haven't done any traditional scrapbooking for awhile because I have just fallen in love with digital scrapping.  I also have a hidden agenda that I will tell you all about in a few weeks, so I hope you come back each week to check out my layouts.  Everything on this page was "free" and that to me is a wonderful thing.  The "title" was built using the Word Art Designer.  First I created it in the pinkish color, using the color picker from the flowers on the layout.  Then I created the "title" again using the Gradient color using three colors from the page and layered it upon the pinkish title.  I just love the way this turned out and it took just a few minutes to create.  If you haven't tried digital scrapbooking yet, you should really think about it.  I didn't think I would like it much because I love the touchy-feely of the embellishments, but honestly I have to say this has been so much fun.
Now I hope I've inspired you to create a layout using a Sentiment and if you like this layout you might want to think about purchasing the MyMemories software.  You can use this code:  STMMMS28873 and you will get $10 off the software and also $10 worth of downloads.  My Memories also has a ton of free stuff and you don't have to spend too much money.

Lasting Memories "Color Me Happy"

Happy Sunday all...I'm finally back with a layout for Lasting Memories.  I am so glad to be on track again and I want to apologize to everyone that have missed me.  I pretty much took most of the month of November off with a few exceptions, but now I am back and ready to show off some fun things.  This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is Color Me Happy with a color inspiration
 and a sketch...
this was just too fun to do.  Back in June I was asked to make a few flower arrangements for one of my friend's son's financee's bridal shower.  Wow say that 3 times fast...  I had never met the bride to be, but the Mother of the Groom (my friend) purchased all the flowers and vases and all I had to do was put them together.  The idea was to have the arrangements for the bridal shower and then the bride to be, 2 bridesmaids, maid of honor, 2 mothers and 3 grandmothers were to take them home.  Since I didn't know too many of the participants I stayed somewhat simple, but it was fun to create them.  The layout is of a few of my favorites arrangements I had made using the MyMemories digital scrapbooking program.  I wanted to create a traditional layout, but I need to step back into the crafting world with baby steps...LOL  Besides, I just love using the digital layout program so much.  It's super easy to use and there was just a new upgrade release last Tuesday and I just had to have it...it has a few awesome changes and I am eager to figure more out.
as of right now, I still have not had to make a purchase for the software.  Everything you see in this layout has been "free" and free is always a good thing.  Seriously, there are so many different embellishments, papers, etc on their website that you can download for free.  Of course there are PLENTY of things you can purchase, but as of yet I have not had the need.  I love the way this layout turned out.

Now I hope I've inspired you to create a layout using the sketch and the color inspiration and if you like this layout you might want to think about purchasing the MyMemories software.  You can use this code:  STMMMS28873 and you will get $10 off the software and also $10 worth of downloads.

Lasting Memories #61 "Bling It"

Good morning and welcome to another Lasting Memories layout challenge and this week it's all about BLING.  I created this layout for my challenge submission over at PaperSecrets again also.  As you know, each week we are given an assignment at PaperSecrets for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago. If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and somewhere along the way we lost another player so now 9 moved on.  I can't believe I am still in the running...again, it's not about winning, it's about scrapping and I am so proud of myself.  Although I was doing two separate layouts weekly, one for Lasting Memories and one for PaperSecrets, but since I started working I have limited time, but  I will keep updating you as I go along.  Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe.
Here is the sketch I had to follow from Papersecrets:

and here is the layout.
I added LOTS of Bling for this week at Lasting Memories to the sketch.  I LOVE bling and would use it on every single layout if I could.  I think it dresses the page up very nicely and I added it around the two photos as an additional border.  I really like the way this turned out.
and I added it to the champagne glasses trying to resemble bubbles.

Now add some bling to your layout and enter it over at Lasting Memories.  Who knows you could become a featured designer or even make it to the top 3.  It's just fun to create and remember those special moments in a layout.

This is what I needed to use over at PaperSecrets and what's in red is what I did use:
stamped image
border punch around photo
flower from wedding
bling LOTS of it

fabric/felt
rubons
chipboard
3+ brads/eyelets to attach the napkin to the layout
transparency
ribbon/lace also from the wedding flowers

Lasting Memories #60 "Dimension" and winner announced

Good morning and welcome to another Lasting Memories layout challenge.  I created this layout for my challenge submission over at PaperSecrets, but it also fit perfectly for this week's "dimension" challenge.  I am not a "flat" scrapbooker, as I always have something sticking up or popped up.  I LOVE dimension and I am learning how to add it to digital, but this week I went traditional.  As you know, each week we are given an assignment at PaperSecrets for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago. If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and 10 moved on again last week, these ladies are serious about their scrapping.  I can't believe I am still in the running...again, it's not about winning, it's about scrapping and I am so proud of myself.  I will keep updating you as I go along.  I almost didn't make it this week with getting ready for my new job and I also started the week off not feeling well.  Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe.
Here is the sketch I had to follow from Papersecrets:
and here is my layout:
Now again, I need dimension in all my layouts:
and my favorite dimension is embossing.
I think embossing on paper is one of the
best techniques there are.  It adds so very
much to a simple piece of paper as you
can see here for the background of the photo.
Since my mom made all the flowers for the
wedding I had a few leftover and used them
on the layout by popping them up off the page.
and the sheer ribbon I added but did not adhere it
completely flat.  I gave it a bit of a ruffle.
Now this is what we needed to use for the challenge and what's in red is what I used:
stamped image
embossing folder (background of the photo)
flowers/leaves ( flowers and leaves from the wedding)
bling (rhinestones and pearls)
fabric/felt
rubons
chipboard
hand or machine stitching
transparency (LOVE from my stash)
ribbon/lace (borders)

I am very pleased with this layout and hope I've given you some ideas to use for dimension.  So head on over to Lasting Memories and create a layout using as much or as little dimension to create a beautiful layout.

Now last week I had another MyMemories contest going and the winner of the digital scrapbook software is:
Wendy Crowe said...

Oh Brenda those pictures are just too adorable! I love those curls! I'm really liking the digital stuff. One day I really will try it out...lol

Now remember, if you didn't win you can still use this code: STMMMS28873 and you can go here and use it to get $10 off and $10 worth of downloads.

Lasting Memories #59 "Tag your it"

Good morning again for another challenge at Lasting Memories.
This week's challenge has to do with tags...
Now I have to tell you, since I've received MY Memories digital software I have NOT done much traditional scrapbooking...I'm having so much fun with the software.  I promise, I will be showing off some traditional soon as I have a plan....but I just can't post the reason behind my (in)sanity quite yet.  So, I wanted to see how quickly and easily I could make a page adding some tags to it and this is what I came up with.
Isn't this just adorable.  I love how these packs coordinate so well.  This is the Fleur De Lis set and it's wonderful.  I am having so much fun experimenting and the one thing I've learned so far is experimentation doesn't cost a thing.  I did this layout in 3 different styles and love this one the best.  No waste of paper or embellishments, because that has happened to me.  Plus, I can scrapbook digitally while still watching the news...LOL.  I definitely cannot scrap traditionally while watching tv.

So I hope you've enjoyed my layout this week and hope to show you some more digital and traditional layouts.  Remember, if you are at all interested in going digital, I have this code
STMMMS28873 and you can go here and use it to get
$10 off and $10 worth of downloads.

SO, I had a giveaway on my blog a few weeks ago and the winner never contacted me, so
do you want to try Digital Scrapbooking?
There are a few rules though
1.  You need to go to MyMemories and check out their fun layouts and
digital paper packs and then come back here and COMMENT which one you liked the best.
DOING this will get you 1 entry.  Now for extra chances you can:
2.  Go to their Blog and become a follower
3.  Like them on Facebook
4.  Follow on Twitter
Now you do NOT have to do all of these things, but the more you do and comment telling me you've done each thing separately, the better the chances are for you to win it. 4 chances per person...
BUT if you post my giveaway on your blog, fb, twitter or any place you can think of and you come back here and comment telling me what you did, I will give you that MANY more entries, so it is completely up to you on how many chances you want

I will be announcing the winner OCTOBER 16th during my Lasting Memories challenge.

Lasting Memories #58 Recipe with a Twist"

Good morning again for another challenge at Lasting Memories.
It's all about a Recipe with a little "Twist"
Now Karen challenged us with this recipe:
1 Photo
2 embellishments
3 colors
and the twist:  A song for the title
and this is what I came up with using my NEW
MyMemories digital software.
I used:
1 photo of Bella at the Apple Orchard from last weekend
2 embellishments - the Apple (added word art from software) and the ribbon
3 colors and I chose yellow, green and red to adapt to the photo
and the song: "A is for Apple" seemed to fit
All this comes in the software package.  I didn't purchase anything.
I wanted to see if I could truly use the software as is, or if I
had to purchase anything and it's a dream come true.  I love how I can add titles directly on an embellishment, pick just the right color combo and make it as simple or complex as I want.  I am in the process of learning how to add music to my layouts also...so excited!!!
Now I hope you've enjoyed my digital pages this week and now onto the winner:

Miranda said...

I became a follower of MyMemories Blog!

Congratulations Miranda.  Email me your email address at burffrau @ aol dot com as soon as you can so I can send your information to MyMemories and they will send you the codes for the software.

Now if you didn't win and are still interested in purchasing the software, remember I have this code that allows you $10 off the price of the software and $10 worth of free downloads.  Copy this code STMMMS28873 and enter it here

Cards for Izzy

As some of you know, one of our DT Members, Evanna, at Lasting Memories daughter, Izzy, was diagnosed with Leukemia and Karen thought it would be a great idea to make cards for her.  So if you feel compelled to brighten up a little girl's day with a card, please mail them to:

Cards For Izzy
c/o Karen Wilson
PO BOX 438
Willow Beach, ONT

Canada

Cards do NOT have to be "Get Well", in fact, they can be absolutely ANYTHING that will put a smile on a little girl's face. If you have little ones and they want to make something, PLS add that in! The more cards, the better. Karen is asking for all cards to be mailed out by October 21 and she will wait a couple weeks to be sure she get everyone's and then she will pkg everything up and send out to Evanna. Thank you all so very much - now let's make this little girl, and her family, smile.

Lasting Memories #57 Flowers and Frames

Happy Sunday all,

Today over at Lasting Memories it's all about Frames and Flowers...2 of my most favorite things.  I chose a picture of my mom that is one of my favorite.  My mom LOVES her flowers and her garden.  Most of the time you can find her just sitting outside enjoying her beautiful yard.  Now be prepared
this is a VERY busy and loud layout
All the cuts are using the Storybook cricut cartridge.
I forget how much I love using some of my carts.
I also took MOST of the color out of the photo
and highlighted just the pink and blue flowers.
I framed my mom's picture with some sheer ribbon
around the backside of the photo and twisted
it at the corners...I saw this technique in a
magazine a while ago and kinda like it
I mimicked the iron work trellis in her yard
and added one behind the vines and flowers.
I only chalked the inside of the flowers
and added a bit to the vines and leaves.

I do really like the look of this page even though it's very busy.
Now, remember to join us at Lasting Memories and create a layout using flowers and frames.
Summer is almost gone, but you can preserve it with a beautiful flower layout.

Also, don't forget about the MyMemories contest I am holding here.  Be sure to check out all the details and leave your comments over there.  Only the comments posted there will qualify you to win a Digital Software program from MyMemories.  Next week I will be showing you a digital layout I made for my Lasting Memories challenge.  If you have ever wanted to play around with digital this is a great way to learn.  Now, if you DO not want to try to win the software and want it NOW I am giving you the ability to save $20 if you wanna purchase it NOW here  and enter this coupon code: STMMMS28873

Lasting Memories #55 Black and White

Good morning ... today is another Sunday filled with Lasting Memories. This week, Karen has challenged us to do a layout strictly in Black and White.  I was pretty excited about this at first, but then I remembered I had no ink for my printer and couldn't print any pictures...I know, I still haven't gotten any.  So I had to resort to going through my stash of pictures when I came across this one...This is one of my favorite pictures of my two oldests.  This picture has a lot of meaning to me, not only of who took it, where it was taken, but just the kids themselves...one looks so sweet and innocent and the other is ... well, he just looks mischievous.  LOL  So here we go:
Isn't this just beautiful?  Well of course I think so cuz I made it,
but honestly I loved the black and white challenge.
For the first time ever, I painted some chipboard that
I cut with my E-Craft and used rub on letters
to add their names and the dates onto
I added some bling over the top of stamped images
See the arrows?  That's my hidden journaling tag
Then I took some white silk flowers and added a
bit of bling to the center and inked the edges.
Now I also used this layout for a sketch for my PaperSecrets challenge
Each week we are given an assignment for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago (or some new ones in this case). If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and 10 moved onto again last week.  I will keep updating you as I go along. Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe
Here is the sketch:
but I had to rotate the sketch to accommodate my picture
but it worked quite well
and this is what I used:
raw chipboard (leave raw , paint, ink, etc....your choice)
border punch

flowers/leaves
bling
fabric/felt
rubons
stamped image

hand or machine stitching
glitter/micro beads
ribbon/lace
So I hope I've inspired you to do a Black and White layout and head on over to Lasting Memories and enter the challenge...they are so much fun.  I'm loving how many pages I've gotten done this year and all the new techniques I've learned.  It's been quite the inspirational motivation for me.

Lasting Memories #53 Who or what inspires you?

Good morning to you all...today is another Sunday filled with Lasting Memories.  Not only is there a new challenge, but Karen is also looking for new Design Team members.  So if you are interested in getting on the DT, all you have to do is play along EVERY week in August.  That's how I got on the DT and I've been having a blast doing it.  Karen and the other ladies are so inspirational and encouraging.  So, if you have thought about it, get that layout done and join in the fun.

This week, Karen has challenged us to do a layout about someone or something that inspires you.  This one was a challenge for me for sure, because I usually only scrap my family.  Of course they inspire me all the time, but I wanted to really make something else.  So I thought about what I like doing most outside of crafting and came up with darts.  I've been throwing darts for about 10 years now.  My husband got me interested in the game and we've been to many tournaments and I've won my share of trophies also.  Whether it be playing singles, doubles, mixed trips or even team, I LOVE the game.
Since purple is my favorite color and my darts are
purple I thought this color combo was a nice fit.
I decided to do the layout more about what I throw
and the meaning for it.  It is an obsession with me.
I added a matchbook that I made as used it
for my sentiment "one match at a time".
It's a way for me to remember that you have
to take it one match at a time...
Then when you open the matchbook, I also
added "my" darts inside.  I scanned my darts,
printed them out, and cut out around them.
I love how this turned out.
I hope I've inspired you to scrap something or someone that inspires you.  Now don't forget that Lasting Memories is looking for some new people to add to their DT and the next person to inspire others could be you

Lasting Memories #51 What's Your Secret

Good Morning

today is another Sunday filled with Lasting Memories.

This week, Karen has challenged us to do something secretive.  This weeks challenge is all about "Secret" ideas!! Do you hide your journaling, maybe hide one photo under another or sneak a little journal tag under that fold? We can't wait to see what little "secrets" you have on your layouts!!!

This layout was super fun for me to make.  Before we started doing our family vacation in Boundary Waters, we used to rent a cabin in Central Minnesota for a week.  We love to fish and boating was an exciting adventure for us.  The swimming was great and the boating and fishing was even better.  Austyn would get up as early as possible and beg to go boating.  He loves our boat...When it was time to finally get going he'd be the first one to grab his life jacket and run down to the dock.  He liked helping with cleaning the boat and making sure the windshield was properly cleaned so daddy could see what was ahead.  He liked to fish also, but just running the waves was his favorite.
Can you tell by my layout where my "secret" is?
Yeah, this is it...probably not much of a secret since
the hinges probably gave it away, but it's what I like
to do if my page is crowded.  This way I still have a
place to add my journaling.
The hinges work very well for this and
depending on the size of the photo that
I am using, I have plenty of area to
write my thoughts.

I hope I've inspired you to "secretly" hide some journaling or anything else you'd like.  Create a layout with a "secret" on it and head on over to link up.  Now don't forget that Lasting Memories is looking for some new people to add to their DT and the next person to inspire others could be you.

Lasting Memories #51 Try Something New

Good morning fellow scrapbookers,

today is another Sunday filled with Lasting Memories.

This week, Karen has challenged us to do something new.  I did this layout a very, very long time ago, but thought I'd share a fun technique with you.  Now that I've dug this one out of the archives, I might try doing it again soon with some pictures of Miss Bella.  My printer is currently out of ink but as soon as I have some I will create a layout using this technique.  In my PSE #8 I opened my picture and then using filters, gave them a different look.

LO
Typed the word BIKING
and then using the Filter
Stylize and Emboss creates this affect
Open your picture and follow the above
steps and it will create this:

This was a lot of fun to do.  There are so many different filters in your Photoshop program, so let your imagination take you to try some different filters.

Now don't forget that Lasting Memories is looking for some new people to add to their DT and the next person to inspire others could be you.
