it's that time again.... December Echo Park Blog Hop

Hi there.  It's time for another blog hop with Echo Park Paper.  There are a lot of fun Collections being released right now, and along with the rest of the team I wanted to share a project I created.  This card was made with the Winter Wishes mini collection:

This is a cool color palette that's perfect for a winter themed project.

Recently on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog I was asked to create something to celebrate Hanukkah.  I thought of this collection immediately, so just wanted to share what I came up with.  I created a dreidel garland:

There are a lot of pretty patterns in the Winter Wishes Mini Collection.

A blog hop means a giveaway.  All team members participating in the blog hop today will have an opportunity to give away one collection.  Please leave a comment on this post and I will draw a name for a prize on Sunday.  I reply to the comment here on my blog so if you don't leave an email address, hopefully it notifies you that way or you check back.

Here's the list of team members playing along:

Be sure to leave a comment at all blogs for more chances to win!

Have a great day!  Hug your babies close.

Happy World Cardmaking Day! a little SCT and Portfolio

Good Morning!

I always look forward to a day dedicated to crafting (not that I ever have a chance to play along, lol) and today is that day!  World Cardmaking Day!  I have found myself making more and more cards.  I look around at all my scrapbooks filled with layouts and wonder what my house will look like if I continue at this feverish pace.  I will have to have a spare room specifically for scrapbooks!  Cards offer an opportunity to get crafty and then send it away.  :)

I shared a sneak of the following card on my Portfolio kit post here:

It's up on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog today.  Be sure to check it out.  The team got together and created a card for every month of the year.  You'll find cards and instructions.  You'll also find plenty of chances to win free crafty goodies so be sure to head over there!

This is the card I created for the day, based on a June 2011 sketch from Pagemaps which you can find here.

1.  Trim card base at 4.25 x 5.5 inches.
2.  Trim base patterned paper the same size.
3.  Trim patterned paper in strips at approximately 3/8 inches wide, depending on your patterned paper.  I used a 6x6 paper pad and based my strips on the blue chevron pattern.  Repeat for a second patterned paper.
4.  Weave patterned paper strips, trim, and adhere on upper left side of card.
5.  Add felt buttons and flag pin.
6.  Stamp sentiment on cardstock, emboss, and trim.  Adhere with pop dots on card.

I hope you have a great WCMD!

Danielle created some cards with our Portfolio kit that you can check out on this post.  We both will be sharing more projects you can create with this fun kit and the fun products from Pink Paislee under the tag "Portfolio kit" at the bottom of our posts.  :)

I will be back later this afternoon to share another card created with Echo Park products this time and instructions too.

Echo Park Giveaway - the September blog hop!

ETA:  Please add Kandis to your list!  She jumped in the line after my post was made.  :)

Happy Monday Morning!

Welcome to the Echo Park blog hop!  I am sharing another project today made with the For the Record Two - Tailored Collection.  You know I love this line!

This card was created utilizing a sketch from Paper Crafts magazine.

I love how the different prints in this Collection stand alone yet work well together.
Check out the entire Collection here:  http://www.echoparkpaper.com/collections/ftr-tailored/

I topped the flower with enamel dots from MME.

Did you by chance notice the new Silhouette shapes from EP?  You know how obsessed I am with the butterfly and doily shapes.  How lovely to get them from the Silhouette store!  Check out that blog post here.

Interested in something from the latest release?  Simply leave a comment on this post and on Monday 9/24 I will draw a winner for a Collection pack.  Easy enough, right?  While there, check out new Collections coming soon from Echo Park, like the This & That and Photo Freedom.  Hello.  Favorite Christmas line ever.  And is that Project Life, calling my name?  I can't wait to play with them both myself.

If you'd like more chances to win, be sure to check out the blog posts from other team members, as well as the EP blog.  We all have Collection Packs to give away and it might as well go to you, right?

Have a great Monday!  Davinie

Pinterest inspired and using my scraps

First, thank you so much for your kind comments about my pup the other day.  I hadn't started out intending to write his story.  I thought maybe to look at my Word board on Pinterest, find a good quote, and just include his picture.  But I got carried away thinking of the other side of the rainbow, and figured it was the best time to write it all out.  So thank you.  We really appreciate it.

Last week I had a couple of days on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog, so I thought I'd share those projects to you before this blog dries up, lol.

I had Pinterest on my mind a lot last week, so created a project inspired by that same Words board that I love so much.  I saw this fun quote and thought it perfectly captured Payton Jayne, so used my Cameo to make it a centerpiece of my layout:

Whenever I hear the word Fierce I always think of Project Runway and Christian Siriano.  Anyone else?

You can read more about it and my process on the blog post here.

Last Monday, it was all about scraps.  I made this card:

And if you check out this post on the SCT blog, I gave the instructions to recreate it.

I'm a bit obsessed with the Tangerine line as part of the Sweetest Thing Collection from My Minds Eye.  I've used it on both projects here.  LOVE.  I am OBSESSED with the enamel dots.  It's like mist droplets without mist and misty mess and bling without sparkle.  They add the perfect finishing touch.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!  Only a few more weeks of summer vacation for me and the kiddos...  It has gone WAY too quickly.

You'll always be @29!!  :)  The "@" was cut with my Cameo.

Did you get here from Christine's blog?  Want more card inspiration?  Join the card train and head to the next blog stop:  Becky Fleck.  You can also head back to the beginning at the Jillibean Soup blog to celebrate Kimber's birthday.

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

(Project 12 September in October will be posted later today)

Happy WCMD!  Whether you paper craft or not, I hope you get a chance today or this weekend to do that creative thing that makes your heart go pitter pat.

I have sweet friends who knit and crochet (oooohhh how I envy their talents), quilt, bake, hike, bike, and even hunt (that's for you, Steve, lol), and I hope today is a day you get to do what you love.

I worked on a quilt last night for my girls.  I'm making two for Christmas and have been working on it for far too long.  Today we'll be headed to Joann's for supplies to create Halloween costumes, so while it isn't cardmaking today, it's still crafts, and I love it.

If you are making cards today, SCT has a great sketch from Becky Fleck with several interpretations, as well as a fun card kit giveaway from Jillibean Soup.  check that out here.

I created a card for this challenge, using the new Autumn Press line from Studio Calico:

I used the last I had of that brown striped ribbon.  I must get more because I think it's my favorite trim to date.  I can't remember who makes it though, or where I got it.  I'll have to add that to the search list for Joann's.

In case you are interested, supplies used:

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

Today is a holiday for all papercrafters.  World Cardmaking Day!  A day designated as a kick in the hiney for all holiday cardmaking, and an opportunity to get together with friends and spend your weekend getting your hands dirty.

Check out the World Cardmaking Day website for challenges and fun.

Check out Scrapbook and Cards Today!!!!  There you will find sketches, supplies, and instructions for 12 cards for each month of the year.  I was assigned September:

Crate Paper's Restoration line here with some Cosmo Cricket birdies.  So cute!

Also Check out Studio Calico's celebration of this day.  There are challenges, a sketch, and opportunities for prizes there too.

While you are there, be sure to check out the main kit if you haven't purchased it yet.  There has been a lot of interest in the main kit stamp, the polaroid, but policies have changed and Studio Calico will not be placing any future orders on stamps.  There are only a few available to be added to the shop in December, so if this is the stamp for you, your best bet is to get the main kit (which is gorgeous, by the way).   In addition to that stamp, I'm a huge fan of those Maya Road windows.  There are so many things you can do with them!  I used them as a window, and as a random shape for my layout.

This weekend I'm making a card or tow, and I'm thinking Christmas.  I have Christmas projects for SCT due soon, but I really really want to get a handle on a December Daily this year.  I have all the product picked out.  I just need to decide on an album and get it ready.  I've learned from previous experience that if I'm expected to make it as I go along, I will never get it finished.  December is too busy for that.

Have a great day!  Davinie
