Imperial Knights “Do they have a place in tournaments”

So we are all aware that the new Knights are out and that their codex is a normal one and is not a lord of war slot etc... So I guess the question is, “do knights have any place on the tournament scene”. I'm going to go through the pros and cons of this...

The Knights

So there are 2 types of Knight both very similar but with different weapon load outs.
Let’s take a look at their basic rules first though. They are super heavy walkers (move 12”) with AV 13 front, with 6 hp’s this means you have to strip them all before it explodes and you can’t do any weapon destroyed or immobilised results to it. They have stomp attacks in combat, and a 4++ save that can be facing in one direction only. They have basic marine stats and 3 attacks.

List-Fu: 1650pts SW+IG+INQ for GT Final

http://www.coolminiornot.com/299894?browseid=8070613
CMON, Beamo (GW)

I thought I'd put up the list that I'm working on for the 40k GT finals in March. This list has developed from the thinking behind this post and the following discussions on Total Immersion and at the club, so thanks to everyone who contributed their thoughts (Coyote, hornywingythingy and Jamie in particular).
As usual, this is intended to be a take-on-all-comers list but it is worth nothing that this list has not been designed to deal with Lords of War, S:D weapons or AV15, as these have been banned from the final.

40kGT Heat 2

Last weekend I attended my second tournament of the year, Heat 2 of the 40kGT in Brighton. Having managed to place in the top ten in July at another tournament at Brighton I was hoping that my refined list would help me into the top half to qualify for the national finals in March. I'll leave it to the other DoG guys to fill you in on how they did, but let's just say one of us did very well!

Allow myself to introduce... myself.

Good evening Death or Glory blog readers! My name’s Chris, and I’ve found myself as the latest addition to this band of merry gents. In this post I’ll be talking about my first few steps in returning to 40k.

Almost four years ago I ended my eight year addiction to the hobby and took a break to move away to university. I’d known the Death or Glory guys for a short time before leaving the hobby, so having found their blog it was my first port of call when I decided it was time to come crawling back. I signed up for the tournament, and thus began my grand plans to return triumphantly to the game. As those of you who attended the tournament will know, I fell somewhat short of the mark, but had a fantastic weekend nonetheless.

Dark Mechanicus (My Brighton List Review)

So you will hear on the podcast how my games went but I thought I would review the list I took and which parts worked well and which parts didn’t. And also look at what I would keep going forward.

I will rate each unit out of 5

Dark Eldar: Aldershot Ardboyz - June 2013 – Part 2

So back to Aldershot. I had 3 more games to play, 3 awesome opponants to face and a lot of coke zero to drink as the temperature was incredibly high! I was well placed on two wins and went into game 4 ready and willing!

Dark Mechanicus (My Brighton List)

Ok so I am off to my first tournament in about 8/9 months YAY!!! What I will do here is talk a little about the tournament, what’s in my list and a summary of why it’s in my list.
So this tournament is run by the Brighton Warlords in a decent venue an old pub.
Things to know before selecting lists.
1.)    Its 1650pts
2.)    Any Forgeworld allowed as long as it  doesn’t have structure points or is a gargantuan creature.
3.)    Forgeworld army lists allowed
4.)    MAX 3 FLYERS
5.)    MAX 10 MODELS WITH INTERCEPT/ SKYFIRE

Dark Eldar: Aldershot Ardboyz - June 2013 – Part 1

So as I said last time, I was on my way to my first tournament with the new Eldar. This was my first tournament in a while due to weddings and pull outs meaning my last tournament was back in March. So once more unto the Breach my friends! I went with the Dark Eldar army from last times blog. This is part 1!

Dark Mechanicus Forgefiend

Let’s start with a Sorry...  I know it’s been a long time since I last posted. Time constraints from work followed by going on holiday, I have been hugely busy. This left me little time to think about let alone do any hobby.
So with a few tournaments upcoming it was time to get on with some painting and list building. I have decided to try out a Forgefiend in my list to see how effective they are. I’m thinking with rerolls to hit from an allied in herald of Tzeentch they could be quite devastating and if I have 6 obliterators and 3 Heldrakes running around may not even be a big priority.

Dark Eldar: List Reduction

Dark Eldar: List Reduction

So currently I’ve talked about my armies as if they are going to be 1850 pts. From the sounds of the noise coming from the GT final this weekend, a tournament I couldn’t get to due to food poisioning after the Stag do of Mr Luke Nurser, that tournaments are likely to decrease in points leave down to something more like 1500-1600 points. So the question is how does a dark eldar army need to change?

Sisters of Battle - The First Game (Wraithwing) Part 2

'This is the story of a woman who did insane things because she put in practice what many Saints have preached.'
- Quoted from the Ministorum Libra Martyr on Battle Sister Tanne, Savior of Deacus XIII (featured left) [not really]

Welcome back one and all - Firstly an apology to all those who have been following my run of blogs on these nuns with guns. Unfortunately I have been particularly busy with work and life and haven't been able to get to my computer much of late.

But here I am - we continue where I left off previously in the midst of my report against Mike and his Necron filth. You can follow THIS link to read the first part of the report.

So the table looked like this...

Tau in 6th (Part 1 Inital Thoughts)

Ok for those of you who have listened to the latest episode of the podcast will know I have become bored of the Fallenwing project. Painting that much black was not fun and the combination of that mixed with the very 1 dimensional play style of terminators quickly lost my interest.

But with the death of that project was the birth of another.

This new project needed to have focus tick a few boxes for me...

1.) Be an underdog, giving me a challenge and also room to grow with the list. I decided on this rule having been inspired by reading Steve’s 1st Sisters post.
2.) Must allow me to paint it (to good gaming standard) at speed so that I can try out allot of different elements in the list.
3.) MUST BE AN ARMY I WANT TO USE!!!

Sisters of Battle - The First Game (Wraithwing) Part 1

'I don't want blood. I can take your blood.
I am asking for souls. Only you can give me your soul.'
-Dolan Chirosius, Sermon on the road to Gathalamor

Let's get stuck in shall we. Saturday night i ventured to Mikes house and we played a game of what we lovingly call Floorhammer. Those of us that started the hobby at a younger age will be familiar with the setup.

Sisters of Battle - Looks Good on Paper©

'No army is big enough to conquer the galaxy. But faith alone can overturn the universe.'
- Ecclesiarch Deacis IX, Codex Imperialis

Last night I pitched the list I posted previously against one of the top armies currently on circuit.

I am informed that this list was created by the infamous Joshua Roberts® over at 40KUK© and was used at the recent Caledonian Uprising tournament - although it is very similar to what our very own Luke Nurser® was using towards the end of 5th and into 6th.

Sisters of Battle - The Army List

'That which was will be. That which dieth will live. That which falleth will rise up. This, I say to you, is the nature of things. If you but once believe.'
- Saint Sabbat, Epistles

Salutations fellow Adeptus Sororitas fans. In my last installment you'll remember I was talking about the current 6th edition meta and where I saw Sisters fitting in to it.

Well you'll be glad to know that I have come up with an army that I believe is pretty good - and not a forge world unit in sight! Without further ado...

Sisters of Battle - The Resurrection

'I tread the path of Righteousness. Though it be paved with broken glass, I tread it barefoot; though it cross rivers of fire, I will pass over them; though it wanders wide, the light of the Emperor guides my step.'
- Dolan Chirosius, Sermon on the road to Gathalamor

Some of you may be surprised to hear that towards the end of 5th edition i had a bit of success with the not so common Sisters of Battle.

It was about the time that the White Dwarf codex came out. The other guys from Death or Glory (DoG) will tell you that I'm a sucker for an underdog - but not only that, there was something about the army that made me want to use them...

A New Year, A New Project (Fallenwing)

So let me start by saying Happy New Year and apologising for my absence over the last month. Christmas is always a busy time of year for me but although I haven’t done any painting it gave me plenty of time to brainstorm.

So the idea...
