Death or Glory Tournament - Organisers review
I think you’ll forgive me here! No Dark Eldar for my lovely readers this time that will be again in a couple of weeks. Today’s blog is about the Death or Glory Tournament. I’m sure Rich, Steve and Luke will talk about their games so I’ll talk about the experiences in running it.

Dark Eldar: Woking War Tournament
So obviously with our tournament around the corner, I’m busy organising
and meeting and greeting, sorting out the final details with my brother with Ru
and the rest of the Death or Glory team. So I popped into Tolworth first
founding to sort out the boards and Ian Courtney came up to me and asked whether
I’d like to play at Woking war…. It was a 1 day event and my girlfriend was
away all during the week, so I thought what the hell! And packed my Dark Eldar
and off I went!
Woking War is held at the Maybury centre in Woking and is an offshoot
from the Tolworth first founding. A lot of people use this tournament as attest
for the mayhem tournament and the DoG tournament. A lot of tournament regulars
were testing out their DoG army lists and so I was up against a few tough
opponents.
The system was at a net victory points plus fifteen to a maximum of 30
points, so a margin of victory tournament… I had no idea what to expect!

Dark Eldar: Brighton Warlords Tournament
Hey guys and welcome along to the next chapter of my Dark Eldar blog. I love tournaments and this next one is definitely one of the best. Brighton Warlords was a 1650 pt., forge world allowed tournament in which secondary objectives didn’t count for who won the game, but contributed bonus points each round. I was quite sceptical about this rule but stormed on regardless. I was coming off a 5th place from Aldershot and the only way was up right?

Dark Eldar: Nemesis – Necrons
So back to Nemesis this week and the big cheese at the moment, Necrons. I have a sad confession to make. I played in three tournaments with these guys and I have to say I still feel a bit dirty.
I was playing these guys end of 5th just as my Dark Eldar were struggling on the tournament scene. There ability to cover every angle appealed to many tournament gamer and frankly after a while just put me off. Theres no doubt these guys are powerful but the question is how about now?

Dark Eldar: List Evolution
Ok so as
I’ve said I went to the Caledonian uprising and from that I’ve learnt a lot
about my army and what it needs to compete. Although I didn’t play Daemons, I
played Necrons and I changed my mind about a few things. Building an army that
can compete in the north and the south is a tough prospect but I believe I’ve
learnt a lot about what it Is to be dark eldar.

Dark Eldar: Eldar Allies
Allies are a huge part of the game and as you can tell I’m fully utilising this part of the game by including Eldrad into the army. It does kinda seem odd however that I only have 4 Eldar models in the army....
So should I use anything else in the Eldar Codex? A good question and a question I shall answer now.
I’m ofc
assuming I retain the two units I’m using now. Question is can I add to my army
with further Eldar
forces?

Dark Eldar: The Infantry Revolution
Dark Eldar: The
Infantry Revolution
Mech is dead….. LONG LIVE INFANTRY!!! Apparently…. Well not
for me just yet but this blog will look into the Dark Eldar On foot infantry
options that seem to be appearing everywhere at tournaments atm. These so
called Deathstars seem to be multiplying at a ferocious speed so I’ll have a go
at figuring how to join the party. I’ll be looking at my Eldar Allies as well
to see if there’s any big blocky units in there to use… so without further ado let’s
see where this revolution came from.

Dark Eldar: The GT Heat!
Dark Eldar: The GT
Heat!
So as I said last week, I went to Brighton GT this week.
Below I’m going to list out how I did and things I learned. Having only played
10 games previous there were several mistakes I made against everyone so thanks
for everyone’s patience! I also learned more about each army I was facing and
what the Meta was looking like now.
So without further ado here was what happened!

Dark Eldar: The Next Step
So after a relatively mixed tourney 2 weekends ago and having just watched my favourite grand prix driver get his first ever podium (GO KOBYASHI!!!) I’ll move onto talking about the changes to my list
for Brighton GT.
A little background to the tourney is that the Brighton warlords normally hold 3 tournaments a year
and, as its no restrictions, was a logical step to hold the 2nd of the 3 GT heats here. It’s held above a
pub which is great however irritatingly Brighton is pretty pricey for accommodation so no nights out!
There’s a car park opposite and it is very easily accessible. This is the first Major tournament of 6 th
for us and so with a little bit of trepidation it’s time we present my army list!
It’s important to note by the way that the meta up north seems to represent a major shift towards
infantry with guard allying with a battle brother. I have mixed feelings about this but I’ll get into that
later. But now…. Onto the show!

Dark Eldar: The First Tourney
Dark Eldar: The First
Tourney
So as I said in my previous blog I was travelling to Aldershot
to take part in a small tourney there. Unfortunatly due to the organiser
placing this the same weekend as games day it meant the numbers ended up
relatively low. (15 people). I have to say though it is a great venue with
plenty of space and good terrain and hopefully this tournament will continue to
grow.
I was a bit naughty on two accounts. Firstly a number of my
models were purely 3 colours (I feel ashamed!) Secondly in my previous blog I put
up an army list. I made a few alterations to this after practise game 4 against
Luke and helpful notes from Ken my Scottish protégé (maybe the student has become
the master!). I removed the jet bikes and the sergeant on the wych units. With the
points saved I added 3 units of true born in venoms. The list therefore looked
like this…

The Art of Dark Eldar: Allies
The Art of Dark Eldar: Allies
Allies. You either love them or you hate them. However they are here to stay, several tournaments are in favour of them and such this is the biggest change to 40k as we know it.
A lot of odd and bizarre combinations will shake up the order of things. The combination of the two super powers of 5th Necrons and Grey Knights as well of 4th Edition Chaos and Orks.
In this edition I’m looking as Dark Eldar as the Parent Army as well as the Ally and I’ll take you through my thoughts on each pairing.

The art of Dark Eldar Part 2: a new edition - Mike Marlow
Last time I had a look into each of the Dark Eldar HQ choices and how the new rules have affected them. Today I’m looking at the Elites and Troops (including the archon’s court).
Elites and troops were probably the most important part of the dark Eldar army as this is where the Venom options came from. I always filled out elites with my arch nemesis; ‘Blasterborn’ but now this option may have become a lot more complex.
As for troops, Wychs, warriors and even hellions and wracks were all very common. Units such as Hellions that move to troops because of a choice I have left in there section. So without any further waffling….

The Art of Dark Eldar: a new edition - Mike Marlow
Dark Eldar. You either love 'em, or you hate them. For me I love the manoeuvrability, the weight of fire the fragility. I’m an accountant and as such I love stats and probability and this is how I play the game and as you can imagine as a result Dark Eldar are a perfect fit.
I had a lot of success with them, winning and placing in several tournaments to the point that I was invited to play at the masters in January 2012 because of that success, an honour that I politely declined.
Despite this Dark Eldar suffered. Poor against tanks, the army really suffered against Imperial Guard and to a massive extent Grey Knights arguably the best army in 5th edition.
However now 6th Edition has approached, I’m now going to explore what this actually means for my beloved dark denizens. I’m going to split this into 3 Blogs, HQ and Special Characters, The rest of the Army and my General feelings to how the army is changing. This Blog will cover the HQ section.
