Swimming

About 2 months ago Lily was TERRIFIED of the water. Baths were almost impossible (imagine a slippery wet cat trying to claw its way out of the tub), even washing her hands in the sink sent her into a fit.

Recently Kent and I took the kids swimming. Luke was nervous for about the first hour and Lily loved it from the get go. Lily kept wanting us to put her down so she could play on her own. But each time we put her down, she would crawl real fast towards deeper water. Lily would splash and giggle. She really had a good time. Luke did too, once he realized he was alright. And towards the end he was a little more adventuresome.

"How do I get out of here?"

That was what I heard when I went looking for Luke yesterday. He was being a little too quiet if you know what I mean. I started looking for him and all the while I could hear him saying, "How do I get out of here?" (he was talking to himself). I finally I asked, "Luke where are you?" and he replied, "Oh! Mama! I'm in the dryer Mama!" And sure enough there he was, in the dryer. He turned over the laundry basket, climbed up (keep in mind my dryer stands about 2 feet off the ground), opened the door and climbed in. I really couldn't help but laugh!

Tough Guy

It's official. Luke is a big boy. He got his first mark of bravery in the big boy world. On Saturday, Luke was running and tripped. He caught his fall on a wooden chair. Six... yes 6 stitches later he was as good as new! He loved the whole thing: the attention, seeing Grandma (nurse Grandma Bronson) at the doctor's office, getting weighed and his height taken, getting a prize for being so good. He loved it all! Except getting up on the table and getting the stitches. The doctor gave him some Versed to help relax him and boy did it work!! He was very compliant and the stitches went great! Thank you Doctor Hacking!

Luke also discovered his shadow yesterday. It was the funniest thing ever! He would wave at it and it would wave back. He would run and dance while watching his shadow. He is just growing up too fast!! (some days not fast enough) We love you silly "Bruno".

Happy Birthday Kent!

Kent celebrated his 34th birthday this last week. His brother's, Miles and Steve, were in town with their families. He went golfing, swimming and played some basketball.

Here are a few things you may or may not know about Kent:

He hates mushrooms and pickles

He is very efficient

Kent can fall asleep within seconds of laying down at night

He is a "fix-it Man". He can fix almost anything

He loves homemade food and prefers it to take out or going out

He has a hole in his chest

He loves numbers, any kind of numbers. When he was little, his family would go on vacation and his dad would create math problems to keep Kent entertained. Kent would skip ahead in school and finish the math book well ahead of time. Once he even finished it in October (school started in August).

Kent is very non-judgemental

Kent is amazing with kids. He has a way of teaching and entertaining them like you wouldn't believe!

I love you Honey! Happy birthday!!
