My brain is also poorly...

because I forgot to post some markers I made for the Spartans. Inspiration was found in the pages of the Crusader rules Rulesbook. The left one has an actual shield glued on it. The others were made with Fimo.

All quiet on the doc front

Well, I've been a bit quiet lately, but my current lectureship is draining away my free time, while my health decided to give me a bit of a middle finger. Nothing serious, but this cold is one stubborn bugger. So, I've been a bit poorly. Not entirely idle tho...

I've produced some new Spartans for a start:

Only two for the time being, but I got some more in the work. They will have to wait though, as I have to paint some Tiger Miniatures Greeks first for a game in two weeks.

Spartans! Attack!

When I first started to get interested in historic wargaming some 5 years ago, I decided to collect a Greek/Spartan army. I managed to paint some hoplites before I had to give everything up to write my dissertation. Now, a year after liberating myself from this work, I painted some more. Last week we decided to try FOG out and for that we needed 10 Hoplites for the one side. I had six ready and finished, so I more or less speed painted another 4. They took a long evening and were great fun to paint. I have to be careful so I don't lose interest in my Naps. Well, here is a photo of the entire Spartan family till now. My interest is definitely awake again, so I am sure it will grow.

Don't ask why one of the bases is a double one. I don't remember. I think I was trying to create my first WAB multibase. The new ones are all bases on 20x20 bases, as I am not convinced by the FOG rules yet, so I want to remain flexible.

Here are the four new ones. There are inconsistencies in the skin colour between the old and new Spartans, but I prefer the new skintone a lot better. It looks all nice and sunburned. Spears are custom made.
