NRVCon 40k Tournament - April 23-24

Blacksburg's first gaming convention, NRVCon, is being held toward the end of April. Part of the convention will include a 40k Tournament which starts on Saturday, April 23. The tournament will be using NOVA format and missions, and report results to ITC. More details below:

 

LVO by the Numbers

So, with LVO over and done with, I wanted to take a quick look at how the various armies fared, who made day three, and overall outcomes and impressions from the event as a distant bystander. First, the armies. This analysis has actually been done elsewhere - some people beat me to the punch, but I've included some nice pretty charts, so I'll talk about it anyway.

So the event is over (Championship tomorrow) and the top 8 is set. See below:

LVO Predictions

Starting tomorrow is the third annual Las Vegas Open, which includes the biggest 40k Singles event in the world, with over 300 players registered. This high profile event has become the cornerstone of the ITC and serves as the final event in the year long ITC Season, where a winner will be crowned and receive a cash prize; last year's winner, Paul McKelvey, received a check for $2,000 for winning the 2014 ITC season.

In honor of the largest 40k event in the world, I'm going to make an almost entirely unsupported and likely biased stab at predicting the winners and armies that have the best shot at winning this absolutely massive event. The odds are definitely against me; last year, Sean Nayden won with the highly surprising Lictorshame Tyranids list. I won't be predicting a repeat of Tyranids at the top.

Hammer in the New Year: Huzzah Hobbies GT - January 23-24

Friend of the blog Elphilo is running a GT in January at Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn, VA. The Hammer in the New Year GT will take place Saturday, January 23, through Sunday, January 24. This five round event will be running ITC FAQ and Missions as a great prep for anyone going to LVO, or anyone who wants to try out the format in a pretty competitive event. 

The field is limited to 32 players, so be sure to reserve your spot while you still can. I know some of my local guys are planning on making the trip - I would love to but don't think the schedule will work for me. That said, Phil always runs great events and the competition should be fierce and fun.

List Building: Post NOVA Necrons for ITC

With NOVA 2015 in the rearview, I have debated what would be next for my Necrons. The first thought was how I would adapt the list to ITC format, not that I have plans to attend an ITC event anytime soon. Of course, it also begs the question of whether my list would work at all in an ITC format; I would have to cut the Aspect Host and two Canoptek Harvest formations. This presents a big problem for the list (as cutting almost half of any army would). So, for this post, what can I do to make a Necron list I like that isn't Arachnophobia?
