Thank you Laila!
………..OH!, just in case you didn’t notice LiveWriter is back up and running **HAPPY DANCING** I’m sooooo glad they fixed it:)
What did you do this weekend? I had a pincushion party. LOL.
I made a pillow to show you in a few days and a table runner too.
And we took a nice Saturday morning drive in the country.
I apologize for the “radio silence”. I’ve been busy working on lots of new patterns that will be ready for testing shortly. It’s crazy how much time pattern design takes.
Here’s a teeny tiny sneak peek….Can you guess the theme?Finished up my batik swap blocks.
Finally finished my lady bug UFO from the July 2014 Fons and Porter magazine. Aren’t they cute!! Now if I can just get my longarm up and running. There’s a closet full of tops waiting to be quilted.
Give Away
Up for grabs is a bright roll of Garden Party Batiks. This is an extra roll from a project I was working on.
Fabulous squishy packages arrived. Do you want a squishy package to? Bea is getting ready to start another round so come join the fun.
Please enter your pin was from a swap on Craftster.org. Have you been there? Soooo much crafty goodness to browse.
Here are the two I sent out. This is Razzleberry by LaTodera.
Thank you everyone!!!
My pincushion swap finally arrived so I can show you what it looks like now. Remember the dragon egg hint?
Well here it is all finished. Isn’t this cute! It’s Razzleberry by LaTodera.com
But check this out…. you can flip it over and use it as a handy little sewing basket too.
I think the little oriental print looks fabulous.
It was a bit of TV watching hand work to gather up and stuff all the pods. Then they are glued in to the honey comb shape that was stitched up by machine. A really nice gift project.
My fun pincushion arrived in the mail this weekend from Turid. This was the January swap.
I’ve never sewn with selvage edges but items made from it always interest me. What have you made with selvages?
Do you want to start or add to your pincushion collection? Do you simply like getting gifts in the mail each month? Then stop by BeaQuilter.com and join in the fun.
Thank you!
I had to create a kid’s sewing class called Beyond Basics for those that have already taken the Learn to Sew class. They’re going to learn applique and button holes by making a pillow cover. They’re going to use the “doodle” edge finish on the letter. Three times around will give us practice with stitching curves and if they sew a little wonky it won’t matter.
I think the button holes need to be a little closer to the middle though.
Then they’re going to practice more control, learn about pinking sheers, sewing with zigzag stitches, and maybe using a walking foot by making my favorite little basket in fun spring colors. They may even get a little surprise bag of candy to put in it.
And of course they’ll cover zippers, using a zipper foot, and surface thread designs on a little pencil case. I haven’t decided whether to use batting or iron on interfacing for this. I’m leaning towards the iron on interfacing.
What do you think??? Sound like fun for 8-15 year olds?
Can it be? A nest of blue dinosaur eggs?!?! Nooooo, just a sneak peek at my pincushion for Bea’s pincushion swap. I know Bea is a follower so I can only show a snippet until she actually gets it.
Talk about making it just under the wire. Finished and boxed for mailing today.GAH!
Bonnie Hunter is coming to town in a couple of weeks and I signed up for a class to make her Scrap Crystals quilt. What was I thinking?! This will definitely be a new adventure in quilting as I don’t piece itty bitty scrappy quilts.
In preparation for our classes my “bee” friends got together for a scrap exchange to enhance our scrappiness. We spent hours cutting piles and piles of 2” strips. As always, we had lots of laughs.
And on another note, my bucket full of selvages has found a new home with Diane. I’m looking forward to seeing what she creates with them. This was a really nice batch of colors with lots of dottie edges.
Have a great Monday everyone!
My sewing room has been buzzing with so many secret projects that I can’t share just yet. So, I thought I’d share some of the FUN 3.5” bitty blocks from this year’s swap. These ladies are just so talented and creative.
2014 Dec./Jan. - Sewing Room Theme
2014 Feb./March - Laundry Theme
The background of the bottom block is a real 1928 journal entry about doing the laundry. How fun is that!
2014 April/May - Word Play Theme
This month was my favorite by far. Can you guess all the words being played?? It’s hard to pick a favorite.
2014 Aug./Sept. - Steampunk Theme
This was another fabulous theme and is currently being displayed in my frame.
2014 Oct./Nov. - Snow globe Theme
I’m waiting on two more to finish the set. One got snagged in the mail.
And a cat tote that is going in the mail today.
Are you ready for the holidays?
I received a surprise in the mail today!! A fun acorn pincushion!! I’ve had my eye on this cute little pincushion since the September round.
Thank you Nancy♥
I whipped up some quick little gifts to add to a Day of the Dead themed gift bag. I embroidered a fun hand towel using a design from Embroidery Library and created two felt skully magnets. Embroidery Library designs always stitch out so nice and their prices are great.
What holiday items are you working on?
I’ve been participating in the pincushion swap over at Bea Quilter’s Blog. Come join the fun!
Here’s the lovely embroidered one that arrived this month! It’s elegant and fun at the same time. I LOVE IT! Thank you Bea.
A little pumpkin patch is forming! Isn’t he cute!
I found this block in EQ7 and printed it as a paper piecing template. I used the same PlumEasy pattern as the star pincushion only I substituted a pumpkin block for the star center.
What fall projects are you making?
I finished another tote bag today using a Dazzling Dogs pattern by Amy Bradley Designs. This one is Baxter and he’s a free block on her website. I enlarge him to a 12 inch block for the bag.
Pay no attention to the fuzz filled design wall behind him…
Have a great day!!!
This month my secret sister gift was a red, black and white sewing room theme. I made a little organizer basket with lots of pockets and filled it with sewing room goodies.
Here is the breakdown for those inquiring minds that need to know….
Aren’t these adorable??
I hope she loves it!
