Junji Ito - Tomie

Remember that Museum Of Terror post? Well that's the third part of these series. The first two parts are Tomie stories. Now what exactly is this Tomie? Tomie is a girl (I assume you already knew that har har) and from the outside she looks like every other girl. The thing with her is that she has this supernatural ability to attract boys. Attraction in terms that they go insane about her and it they become obsessed with her (kinda like Britney Spears fans but not quite like it). She on the other hand uses this ability to do evil stuff and makes everybody kill and butcher each other and any other girl that tries to compete with Tomie. After a while they get so insane and frantic about her that they kill and chop up Tomie. But the thing is...she can't die. Every part you sever another Tomie grows out of that part. She multiplies and never dies and she keeps coming back.

That's about how most Tomie stories are. There is no continuous plot but just stories about the Tomie phenomena. Tomie along with Gyo and Uzumaki are Junji Itos most famous works. Tomie is the most popular I think since it had several movie adaptations (they all suck or so I heard) and the manga was released in America as well. In terms of drawing it's very simplistic, no great details or amazing 2 page artworks. Despite that it's still an very fun and gross horror story we all love to read. Definitely check this out.
