Wayward Angel



Despite being an American author, Verne Chute doesn't rank an English Wikipedia entry, but scores with the French.  From the translated French wiki page (which translates his last name to "Fall"): 
"He tries to seduce the strengths of the mystery while cleverly playing with the tricks of the thriller."

Pulp Romance

These novels from the 1940's were surely aimed at stirring the libido of the reader with brazen titles and covers dripping with innuendo.  Scanning through the books, they seem pretty tame, at least compared to something like Cocoa Blades.

It was a Dark and Stormy Night...

Actually, it was a bright and sunny morning when I left for garage saling today. The horrible 2-month heat wave has broken (although it hinted at it again this afternoon). It was in the 60's when I headed out.

As previously detailed, I came across a stash of 50's pulp detective novels at a garage sale today. I've never been a mystery fan (unless you count Scooby Doo), but I do love the covers and titles of these books.
