NEW TOY

I have a new larger camera lens, that takes distance photos much better.  Yesterday hubby and I went for a walk along Lake Learmonth and I was able to take photos of the wind turbines on the far hills, which I tried once before and you couldn't make them out.  We had priced them before and they were more expensive than I thought, but Friday we popped into JB Hi-fi and found they were about half price, so came home with one.  Now I'll be able to show some better photos. (maybe!)  Some pics below taken around Learmonth.

Some of the wind turbines.

The lake is very low at the moment and the swans are waddling around the mudflats.

Incredibly fascinating fungi.  Lots of it on the cut down tree stumps.

Australian Magpies.
Today I tried to get down to some sewing, as I've been working with these scraps.  Not the best photo.

They are now becoming this!

Then a decision to be made on which fabric to use for the setting triangles.  Not sure whether it should be the stripey one on the left or the fluttery bits on the right.  Have you any ideas in blogland?  The teal blue will be a very narrow inner border and the colouful one the outer border.

I finished the peg bag.  The rick rack was a leftover and the lace is vintage, I think.  It was in my late Mum's stuff.

This is my sewing corner.  My cutting table is to the left of where I was standing.  Not as big as the room I use for my Gammill, but I can overspill into there when I need to.

I was hoping to load another quilt onto my long arm system, but I made these instead.

One is now iced and will go with me tomorrow morning to Smythesdale Craft Group with the lovely Joy from Days filled with Joy.  I'm going to drive there myself, we hope.  Still not confident in the big black beast.

Lastly, a couple more photos from yesterday.

Hubby "leaning on the lamp post".

Somebody's back yard.  Don't you just love the pencils.  Reminded me of the large pencil at the Derwent Pencil Factory in Cumbria.

The old Masonic Lodge building,.

The path outside the above building.  Wouldn't it make the most wonderful quilt pattern.  I already have ideas.

This was going to be a quick post, but has taken longer than I thought.  I did take some photos of the churches in Learmonth, but one doesn't show very well,  and I also saw another one at the beginning of town, so will do those another day.  They are all so different.
Hope you've all had a great weekend and take care.
Till next time.
Susan.

OVERDUE POST, AGAIN!!!!!!

Well, we just seem to have been busy, busy, busy.
I now have my beloved Bernina, (Bonnie), back and have already finished piecing the baby quilt, so it is now a flimsy, waiting to go on Bubs for the quilting.  I'll show the flimsy now, and then progress reports on the quilting and binding later.

Baby quilt hanging over rollers of machine.  I had to improvise with the borders, but think it has turned out OK.

Hubby has been busy clearing out the overgrown shrubbery between the house and side fence, so we can bring our caravan home.  We needed a clear space for it, out of the way.  I forgot to take photos of the overgrown mess, but as you can see from the photos below, there was a lot that came out.  In the middle of it, was a  "HUGE"  blackberry.  Next door neighbour popped her head over the fence to say she'd asked them to clear it several times.

Most of it is to the side.

We took four of these loads to the local tip, as we haven't much space in this garden.
Have manged to unpack all but about 2 boxes and have it all placed fairly well, especially as I sold at least six pieces of furniture, which I'm sure must have just been filled with "stuff".  Although I had a good clearout, I'm sure that there is a lot more I must sort through.
Below is a photo of what I am calling my "quilting room".  In our last house I sewed, quilted and crafted in what I called my studio, but this house being a much different configuration has sewing room and a quilting room.

This is supposed to be the formal lounge room, but  as seen from my last post, we use the large familyroom as main living are.

The other side of above with Bubs all set up and now going  I will be putting the baby quilt on hopefully some time through the week, once I have some backing fabric.  Below the picture on the far wall is my piano.  It's a lovely room, although I need much better lighting, which we will address in the future.
Now, one last photo.  I showed the view I can see from the familyroom window last week, which was just a horrible smoke haze.  Went outside through the week and this is what I can see most of the time.  I can even see it from the breakfast counter in the kitchen.

In the far distance, I can see Mt. Buninyong.  I really need a better lens for my camera, as I can see it much better than this.
Hopefully, now that we are more settled, I'll be able to post more often.  Have another post in my mind for during this week.
Have a lovely week out there in blogland and take care.
Susan.

STUDIO AND GARDEN

A quick post before I set off for Vision.
The Quilt Show was great and daughter and I had a very enjoyable day, but ran out of time.  I wasn't going to buy anything, but did come home with a few items, much to daughter's amusement.  I did miss getting some small buttons for an old stitchery.  I will try and take a photo of what I bought, though one is destined for Xmas presents, so that won't be in the pic.

Below are some photos I took yesterday out in the garden.  It was a beautiful day, sunny and nearly 20deg.  I had the door and windows open and got plenty of washing dry.  It is quite wet and cooler today.

Anemones

The fairy ring of daffodils starting to flower.

Pieris {it smells heavenly).

Green Goddess arum lily which I thought I'd lost earlier in the heat and dry of last summer.

Bulbs -  daffodils, star flowers, bluebells and violets.  As you can see by the support, my gardens are very steep and I cannot stand in them to weed or anything else.

Now to the studio.  In April last year when I got the new quilting machine, I had to change my room around, but have never been happy with the arrangement.  Yesterday, after selling my old cutting table/desk, I decided to do a rejig.  This is how it has ended up and I hope to ask for some feedback as to ideas anyone might have.  I need to get rid of some larger pieces of furniture which are so bulky and have more streamlined storage.  Is that a good idea?  As we will be moving in the near future I really must get organised.
Excuse the mess.

The auction went well on Sunday, although I was terribly tired by the end.  Below are 2 photos.  The one of the three ladies waiting for the first lot of sheets has their permission to be on this blog.  I did take photos at the quilt show, but because of so many restrictions I haven't put any on.

F, Me and B.

Sale items on one of the tables.
All for now and hope to get some sewing, knitting and embroidery done this week  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  Susan.

OK!!!  Here we go again. Second attempt and getting frustrated.

Now to add some photos.  This is our Morris Minor ute, then my studio with my long-arm machine and a photo of our cherry tree taken some years ago when it didn't get blown to pieces.  Garden far to dry and dead at the moment to take photos. Date on photo not correct (didn't know how to change or get rid of it.  Have new camera now).

Will publish this now and see how it goes.
