Spring Break is officially over!

So I'm back to work and decided I should catch up on what I did (and didn't do) over Spring Break last week. I had a long list of things that I wanted to accomplish. I didn't even get half of them done. But on the bright side, there were some major tasks that I did get done, despite taking a day trip with the youth to Liberty Jail and Adam-Ondi-Ahman and then coming down with a cold halfway through the week and spending almost 2 days in bed.

#1 - Put up curtains in my kitchen and living room. Finally, no more of the neighbor dog staring at me from the back stairs! I bought the kitchen curtains from Goodwill, and they actually match my country blue/sunflower motif. Then I went to Family Dollar down the street from my house and found some green taffeta panels that worked perfectly. All in all, I spent less than $30 on 5 window treatments. I think that was a pretty good deal. Unfortunately, after I hung the living room curtains, I realized that I probably should have ironed them first. It was such a hassle to put them up (high windows + big ladder) that I will probably just leave them. The creases will come out eventually on their own, right??

#2 - Put up shelves in the mudroom. I still haven't gotten rid of all the empty moving boxes that are taking up space in there, but it looks much better now, and I have a space to put my meager food storage, as well as a handful of boxes that I still have yet to unpack... Yes, I know I moved in August!

#3 - I painted the bathroom. Now if you have not had the unfortunate experience of seeing my bathroom, I will attempt to describe it to you. It seems that it was once painted bright red, as there is evidence all over the trims of the walls and shower, and then it was painted an off-white color (again, paint all over the trims). Whoever painted must not have heard of masking tape. And to top it off, before I moved in, the landlord sprayed some sort of cleaner all over the walls (he was planning on painting before I moved in, but ran out of time). Only he left the cleaner on the walls and it kinda soaked into the paint. So I had to scrub the walls to try to get all of the green off, which proved to be an impossible task. So on Monday I went to Home Depot with my Mom and picked out a nice pale pink color that I thought would go well in the small (very small) space, and match with my maroon towels/rugs. I finally got the first coat painted on Saturday. It will need another coat to entirely hide the green that wouldn't come off the walls, but it is looking much better!

#4 - Began my sheet music organizing. I cleared out one of the drawers in my file cabinet and started filing my sheet music. Each one in a file folder, labeled with the name and voicing, then alphabetized by the title of the song. I am not done yet, but I have more than half of the drawer filled already.

So all in all, a pretty productive week. My new home teachers from the family ward are coming over later this week, so I hope to get the rest of my projects done before then. Wish me luck!
