New Zealand Background with Gilding Flakes

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

This is so simple to construct, using Gilding Flakes. You can swap the Gilding Flakes for glitter or any medium you like - paints, pixie powders, misters, acetate backgrounds, printed background papers, anything!

For this one, I have simply cut all the layers in the New Zealand Background, added Double Sided Self Adhesive Sheet to the back and then rubbed Gilding Flakes on the front. Very straight forward so just a list of ingredients today -

Products used -
Sue Wilson Dies - New Zealand Background, Double Pierced Background Rectangles, Classic Foldover Flowers, Blossoming Branch, Pierced Flags
Woodware Double Sided Self Adhesive Sheet
CS Harvest Moon Gilding Flakes
Woodware - Vintage Pocket Watches (sentiment)
Clear Perfect Medium
CS Bright Gold Detail Embossing Powder
Ivory Felt
Self Adhesive Pearls - Cream 3mm
CE Mounting Cushion
CS Glue
Card - Milk, Antique Gold Pearl

New Zealand Background with Misters

Hi Bloggers.

Today's card features the New Zealand Background -

I started by misting a piece of Watercolour Card with Aqua Lagoon, Golden Mint and Egyptian Blue CS Misters.

I cut dies #5 and #6 from the New Zealand Background Die Set into a piece of Coconut White Card. I added a die from the Double Pierced Background Rectangle Die Set. I trimmed my misted background to slightly smaller than my die cut and glued the pieced together. I slotted die #4 into the aperture and cut to create a frame.

I then cut die #3 into another piece of Coconut White Card. I glued my waste piece from the previous step at the back of it. I added my large background piece to it using CE Mounting Cushion and added a frame cut from Coconut White Card using the Double Pierced Background Rectangle Die Set. I matted onto Coconut White Card, another piece of Coconut White Card inked with Fresh Grass Colour Cloud and a final piece of Coconut White Card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Imagine Verse Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card  using Vivid Chartreuse Archival. I cut it out using die #2 from the New Zealand Background.

I made some flowers out of Coconut White Card and more of my misted background using the Spiral Flower Die Set and added an 8mm White Pearl to the centre of each flower.

I cut a couple of pairs of foliage out of Coconut White Card using the Blossoming Branch Die Set. I cut the little flowers out of more of my misted background. I added a little CS Crystal Sparkle PVA to the centre of each little flower.

Scattered Leaves Background and Pixie Powders

Hi Bloggers.

Hope you enjoyed the shows over the past couple of days. Today I'll be continuing with my prep for the shows I have on Saturday.

Here's today's card -

2 techniques with Pixie Powders on this card. For the central panel, I added a good layer of CS Glue to a piece of Black Gloss Card. I then added CS Pixie Powders in Plum Twist, Sun Yellow, Spearmint and Ancient Copper. I made sure that all the glue was covered. Using a Low Speed Heat Tool, I heated the area until the glue started bubbling. I swapped over to a regular heat tool and continued to heat. This does take quite a while.

For the frame, I misted a piece of Black Card with water. I then sprinkled the Pixie Powders over. I added a little more water and put aside to dry. Once dry, I cut dies #2 and #3 together from the Scattered Leaves Background into it. I added a die from the Double Pierced Background Rectangle to cut the frame out. I glued a piece of Coconut White Card behind it. I slotted die #2 back into the centre and cut. I added my frame to my CS Glue/Pixie Powder background using CE Mounting Cushion. I matted onto Coconut White Card, Black Card and then another piece of Coconut White Card.
I stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Vintage Pocket Watches Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Jet Black Archival. I cut it out using the Pierced Flags Die Set.

I made a flower out of Coconut White Card and more of my Black Card with Pixie Powder on it using the Spiral Flower Die Set. I added a drop of Old Gold CS Phill Martin PVA to the centre.

I'll be back tomorrow with a sneak peek from Saturday's shows.

Thanks for stopping by.

One Day Special Shows Continue Today

Hi Bloggers.

Hope you managed to catch the shows yesterday. I have more shows today at 9am, 1pm and 5pm - lots more techniques to share.

I wanted to share this card today to show how some of the smaller elements in the Background Die Sets can be used on their own.

The background is actually a negative print from when I sprayed a piece of felt -

I sprayed half a sheet of Ivory Felt with Scarlet Sunrise CS Ink Spray Mist through the Beady Eyes Mask. I picked the mask up, turned it over and pressed it onto a piece of Coconut White Card. I put my felt aside to use in another project.

I inked around the edges of my negative background using Natural Rosewood Colour Cloud using a Smoothie. I matted onto Black Card and then another piece of Coconut White.

I sprayed a piece of Coconut White Card with Scarlet Sunrise Ink Spray Mist. Once dry, I cut die #2 from the New Zealand Background and die #2 from the Scattered Leaves Background out of it.

I cut dies #1 and #2 together from the New Zealand Background out of Black Card. I glued this to my Scarlet Sunrise die cut.

I cut dies #1 and #2 together from the Scattered Leaves Background out of Black Card. I glued this to my Scarlet Sunrise die cut.

I stamped one of the circles from the Woodware Vintage Circles Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Onyx Black Versafine, I added CS Clear Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I cut it out using scissors leaving a tiny white border around it. I inked around the edges with Natural Rosewood Colour Cloud. I misted a little Scarlet Sunrise Ink Spray Mist onto my Craft Sheet. I picked it up using a Paint Brush and coloured in the butterfly and the little heart.

I stamped a little butterfly from the Woodware Vintage Pocket Watches Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Onyx Black Versafine, I added CS Clear Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I cut it out using scissors leaving a tiny white border around it. I coloured it using Scarlet Sunrise Ink Spray Mist. I shaped it a little and added it to the corner of the New Zealand Background die cut.

I stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Vintage Pocket Watches Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Onyx Black Versafine and embossed with CS Clear Detail Embossing Powder. I cut it out using the Pierced Flags Die Set and inked around the edges with Natural Rosewood Colour Cloud.

I sprayed a piece of Ivory Felt with Scarlet Sunrise Ink Spray Mist. Once dry, I made a flower using the Classic Foldover Flowers Die Set.

I completed my card by adding a 5mm Black Pearl to 3 of the corners of my background.

Here's a pic of the beading that I did on my last beady break - it's a long process especially when I don't get to go to my monthly beading session. I can't go next week as I'll be at Hochanda do a One Day Special.

On this one, I still have to do another length of chain on left, attach the chatons together in pairs, add them to the chain and then do another length of chain to each side, make a toggle and attach the ring and toggle to the chain. Should be finished by next Christmas!

Industrial Chic and Oxides

Hi Bloggers.

I have one last sample featuring dies from the Industrial Chic Collection (I do actually have one more but that's for my workshop on Saturday).

For the background, I started by scrunching up a piece of Coconut White Card. I opened it out an touched the peaks of the card with Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide. I misted with water and left it a couple of minutes for the ink to move a little. I then ironed it with my Encaustic Iron to flatten out my card and stop the ink from moving any more. I used the crackle stamp from Lisa Horton's Textures  Stamp Set and stamped it several times on my background using Frayed Burlap Oxide. I distressed the edges of my background with a Woodware Edge Crimper and then edged with Frayed Burlap Oxide using a Smoothie. I matted onto Black Card and then Coconut White Card.

I cut die #1 from the Industrial Chic Background into a strip of Chestnut Card twice. I glued it to a piece of Black Card and then trimmed to fit my background. I glued it in place.

I cut die #3 from the Industrial Chic Frame & Tag Die Set out of Black Card and the Ransom Note Birthday Die out of Chestnut Card.

I completed my card by adding some elements from the Industrial Chic Mixed Essentials cut from Chestnut and Black Card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Industrial Chic One Day Special continues today

Hi Bloggers.

Back from a great beady week - I will share some photos next week, after I've had chance to take some pics. Unfortunately, our cat, Smokey, died on Tuesday. It was very sudden. A neighbour found her and brought her round to our house. The vet thinks that she had a heart attack. Totally unexpected as she was very healthy, very active and only 10 years old 😿. I've put a couple of pics of Smokey at the end of this post.

Lisa Horton continues with her One Day Special on Hochanda today with Sue Wilson's Industrial Chic Collection with shows at 9am, 1pm and 5pm.

Here's another card that I made featuring the dies -

The background was one that I made as a demo at the recent workshop I ran with Leonie Pujol.

I dusted a piece of Coconut White Card with an Anti-Static Pad. I stamped some of the stamps from the Woodware Pocket Watches Stamp Set using Onyx Black Versafine Ink. I added CS Matt Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. I misted a little CS Phill Martin Misters in Sunshine Yellow, Lime Burst and Purple Paradise onto my background. I dabbed off excess ink with a little Kitchen Roll which also transferred a little of the ink to other areas. I inked around the edges with CS Lime Burst Colour Cloud using a Smoothie. I misted a little of the Purple Paradise Mister onto my Craft Sheet and picked it up with a paint brush to colour the butterflies. I repeated the process with Lime Burst and coloured some of the areas on the pocket watches. I matted onto Black Card and then Coconut White.

I cut the sentiment from the Inspirational Words die set out of Black Gloss Card.

I cut the Industrial Chic Swirl out of Black Gloss Card.

I cut the head from the Industrial Chic Mixed Essentials out of Black Gloss Card.

I'm offering 10% off items from Lisa's shows on my website. You can find them here. Please enter STEAMPUNK in the discount code box at checkout to activate your discount. Offer valid till midnight tonight or while stocks last.

Long Tall Santa

Hi Bloggers.

I have a Christmas card for you today made up from leftover demo bits -

For the background, I used a square piece of Coconut White Card cut using Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Squares. I popped a little Tarnished Gold CS Shimmer Paint onto my Craft Sheet. I picked it up onto a Natural Sponge and dabbed it all over my background. I repeated the process with Silver CS Shimmer Paint. Next, I popped some Victorian Red CS Shimmer Paint onto my Craft Sheet. I picked it up onto a piece of Cut n Dry Foam and dabbed it through the Pine Needles Mask. I also edges the card with the Victorian Red Paint. I matted onto Black Card and then anouther piece of Coconut White.

I stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Long Tall Santa Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Onyx Black Versafine Ink and embossed using CS Matt Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Sue's Double Pierced Squares and added it to my card using CE Mounting Cushion.

I stamped my stanta from the Long Tall Santa Die Set onto Coconut White Card using Onyx Black Versafine Ink and embossed using CS Matt Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured in using Victorian Red Shimmer Paint, Opaque White and Black Sakura Glaze Pens, Tattered Rose Distress Marker and Diamond Snow Glitter Jewels.
