Nail Trends: Metallics

A few weeks ago, while on Alana's Bach Party in Nashville my friend, Brittany, showed up with the best nail polish.

She had hurriedly painted her toes with Essie's Good as Gold before heading to Nashville.

Here's Brittany:

Now, pretend this is a diagram of feet instead of hands:

Her toes (on both feet) were painted similar to the hand on the right.

We had a good laugh and I was sold on the color.

I have, since, purchased the Good as Gold as well as the No Place Like Chrome. Both are from Essies' Summer Metallic Collection but of the collection of colors I feel like the gold and silver can transition in to Fall.

Beauty Department: Shellac Mani

Maybe this is old news to most... but I'm in a small town. Fun stuff doesn't arrive here until it is old news.

I went in for my first shellac mani this past Friday. I was a bit skeptical because I'm am super hard on my nails. A regular manicure on my nails might make it 24 hours before chipping... and that's a stretch.

I'm don't know what I do exactly to freak up my manicures so quickly, as I do not have a very labor intensive job (no hammering done here), yet I can ruin a good mani in no time.

According to the nail lady (what's the proper name? nail technician?) this type manicure should last at least 14 days with minimal chipping and would continue to shine.

So, I went for it.

Narrowed down the color options!

I'm on day 7 and it's holding strong. I think I'm sold on the the Shellac Manicure. It's looks natural and is still shining.

I think the best part... is that it's DRY in 60 seconds. No need to wait around!

I love it!

The one draw back is the limited color options. The salon I went to only had about 20 colors to choose from which saddens my soul a bit, as I love color options.

Currently Loving

The last couple of weeks I've been wearing Essie's Berry Naughty nail polish and I'm really loving it.

I had it on in these pictures, where it looks a bit dark. But it's the perfect bit of  rich berry color for fall.

Next up is Essie's Chinchilly grey. I can't wait to try it out.

I just love trying out new nail colors!!

Things I'm Loving This Week

In honor of it being Friday I decided I would post about a few things I'm loving this week.

1. OPI's Chopsitcking to my Style.

I'm not quite ready to go super dark with my nail color so this has been the perfect transition into FALL. Plus it doesn't hurt that it's basically orange and works well with my gameday attire each weekend. WDE.

2. FALL TV PREMIERS.

Holla for a dollar if you've been tuning into the new seasons and fall premiers!! I've really been making the DVR work for me this week, as I am trying to decided which shows will make the cut.

New Girl made me laugh out loud in a few parts... and at times the main character kind of got on my nerves. Verdict is still out on this one.

Vampire Dairies is on lock. I love it right along with all the other teeny boppers out there.

REVEN8E was really good. The first episode had lots of twist and turns and as of right now I'm all in.

I have really high hopes for Pam Am as well as Hart of Dixie which premier on Sunday and Monday.

Rachel Bilson is looking so pretty.

3. These free pumpkin stencils from Better Homes & Garden.

They have lots of different designs, but the different dog breed stencils have me ready to bust out my carving knife.

4. And lastly, as usual I'm totally loving my main girl dog, Maggs.

Tomorrow I'm hitting up an Estate Sale (fingers crossed we get some steals), a Thirty-One Party, and cheering on the Tigers. Hope you have a great weekend too!

Frock Star

I love changing nail polish colors and even trying the latest trends...

So it was only natural that I jump on the bandwagon that is Sally Hanson's Nail Effects.

I definitely had my doubts, as I would rather spend $8 on a bottle of nail polish that I can touch up and even use more that once.

However, I'm hard on my nails. As in, I get a Mani on Tuesday and I have freaked it up by Thursday.

So I thought this weekend would be a good one to test the Nail Effects. The product says it can last up to 10 days before chipping!

Friday night I sat down to a little Housewives action on the telly while I "stuck" on some Frock Star Nail Polish Strips.

It is super glittery.

They were super easy to apply and so far they've held up better than any nail polish. I mean, this past weekend was pretty tough... I have swam, jumped off docks, played flip cup, Bar-B-Qued, and all out raged and I only have a minor chip or two to show for it.

I'm thinking Kitty, Kitty just might be in my future. Purrrrrrrrrrr!

Overall, I'd say the Nail Effects were a major success and more than worth the eight bucks!!

Isn't it Ironic, Don't Cha Think?

This past Saturday Ryan, his sister, Ali, and I spent the day together. Lucky for Ali, I say.

We had breakfast together and had done a bit of yard work before deciding to settle in to watch a little TV.

Ali was flipping through the channels and we ended up watching Back to the Furture.

Who didn't watch this movie a hundred times as a child? I'm just tossing it out there, but I wanted a flying skate board at one time and potentially a pair of high top sneakers.

We were actually watching the one in which Marty McFly ends up dressed as a cowboy out the desert:

I haven't thought about Back to the Future in years... let alone watched one of the movies.

Later that afternoon Ali and I ran to the drugstore, as I needed a new nail polish color. I was looking for a pinkish color. I looked at a few different brands and finally picked up a pink color by Sally Hanson. I'm the kid that test the nail polish on one of my nails in the store.. tacky, maybe.... but elimates regret later.

I tested it on my thumb... and liked it. However, everyone knows that it's all about the name of the nail polish.

So I flipped the bottle over and the name of the color I had chosen was:

BACK TO THE FUSCHIA !!!

It was fate and the deal was sealed in that moment.  Talk about irony...  It was meant to be!!

Doc Brown would've been proud.
