Ring with freshwater pearls

Handmade ring with freshwater pearls

A quick post today showing you a ring I made a while back.
Don't think I've shown it on the blog so here it is.
It's made out of differently colored freshwater pearls.
It's a perfect way to use up any leftover beads in different colors you might have.

 So what do you think?
Would you wear it?
Let me know if you'd like a tutorial on it.

Until next time: Keep crafting!

Beaded heartlocket tutorial

Beaded heartlocket tutorial

Hey and welcome back.
Today I want to share with you a tutorial I made for these cute reversible hearts made from beads.

The locket is made by making two hearts (for example I made a dark blue and turquoise one for the big pendant). Then you stack them on top of eachother and sew together on the side using smaller beads (I used some silver ones).
You can add a lock of hair or a secret message before you sew them together and no one will know it's there until the heart breaks (literally).

Beaded heartlocket tutorial

I have seen some tutorials on youtube making these, but I find them hard to follow. It's confusing sometimes which bead you're supposed to go through and from which angle.
So I made a tutorial where I've made charts to better understand how the hearts are assembled. It's not difficult so I hope you give it a try. If you do, please let me know.

I have entered instructables' Valentine's contest with this tutorial.
If you have an account there, please vote for me.
See the tutorial here:

You can also see the videotutorial on youtube. However, I am going to edit that video and include Dusty.

Don't know who Dusty is?

He's my trusted sidekick and the star of my youtube channel.

Bow clasp summerfield necklace

Welcome back to my blog and to another post. Today I want to show you another one of my wired necklaces. It's been almost finished for a month or two, but I was unsure about which clasp to use so I let it sit for a while and ponder about it :)

Glass wire summer meadow necklace

Well, it finally made up its mind for a bowshaped clasp so here it is.

It is made with different glass beads. The big green ones are silverfoiled on the inside and the big white ones depict flowers. The tiny fushia ones are freshwater pearls and the rest is glass and crackled glass.

The necklace measures about 45cm (about 18") and is a so called "princess" length.

Wedding flowerbelt/hairband tutorial

Wedding flower belt tutorial

On monday there was a deadline for instructable's wedding contest. If you're not familiar with instructables it's a free site where people put up their tutorials in a huge selection of categories. Most of them are step-by-step instructions with photos (like mine), but some of them are with videos. The deadline was monday so naturally I came up with a brilliant project the same day. Nothing like a deadline to keep you motivated, am I right?

Wedding flower belt

I've been thinking about making videotutorials, but I must admit I feel more comfortable with these photo step-by-step instructions. Do you think it's an ancient kind of way to teach or do you like these kind of tutorials?

The way I see it is that I'd rather take a good photoed tutorial than a youtube one with bad  lighting, lots of unnecessary talk and the feeling of it taking to long and not getting to the point.
Let me know what you think. Would you rather see my tutorials videoed? Is that even the right word anymore? Recorded maybe?
I'm just showing you some of the shots of the finished project. If you want the full tutorial, check it out on

where you can vote for this project in the wedding contest (in top right corner of the project's frontpage).

Vintage flower necklace

Vintage flower necklace beads

Allow me to show you another necklace I have made. I'm very much into this style of jewelrymaking lately where you use metalwire to connect the beads together.

Vintage flower necklace

This time I have used crackeled- glass- and waxbeads together with some metal flowers, beadcaps and tiny beads.

Vintage flower necklace

Although the necklace is big enough to fit over your head, I decided to use a clasp in case you have a big hairdo and don't want to risk messing it up.

Clasp: opened, front and backside.

I really love the vintage feel of this necklace. Greys and soft lilac tones together with creamcolored beads. I also love the silvercolored metalpieces with the black details.
What do you think?

Detail of the hanging pendant part.

The necklace is about 70cm + 12cm for the dangling piece.
This necklace is for sale and will be available as soon as I've made enough pieces to put in the shop either on etsy or zibbet.
If you're interested you can snag it right away.
Just email me (details in the "about me" link top right)

Lavender crocheted headband with freshwater pearls

Another friday and another project.
This time I want to show you a crocheted headband I made a while ago that I've been using all spring.

Lavender crocheted headband with freshwater pearls

The pattern is not really a pattern. I just casted a couple of chains that I thought would be enough for the width of the headband. It was about 12 or 13 stitches. Then I crocheted the double crochet stitch (if I'm not mistaken) until the headband was long enough to fit around my head. Finally I slip stitched it together.

The flowers I improvised, making a magic ring and then stitching first in the front loops only, then after the circle was complete - in backloops only.
I sewed on the freshwater pearls to the flowers, then attached the flowers to the headband.

Hope you like it :)

Bird key cabochon necklace

Bird key cabochon necklace

Three weeks ago I made a post asking which of three projects you would like to see first. I didn't get that much feedback so I started on this necklace.

I have used a key with a glass cabochon, which is a piece of glass polished evenly. Under the glass there is a beautiful image of a bird. I think finding the perfect image for this necklace took me almost as long as making the necklace itself. But I'm glad I was so stubborn to find the perfect piece since I think it really makes the whole thing very coherent.

I have used blue fresh water pearls with a hint of pink (that match the image perfectly). I also used  crystal AB polished beads that give a hint of pink and blue. These are the ones that look clear, but catch the light like a prism.
I also have some blue wax beads with silver beadcaps and two silver colored birds.

Bird key cabochon necklace back

The beaded part measures 78cm (about 30" - a so called "opera" length) and the key is 7x3cm.

This necklace will eventually be available in my shop (either etsy, zibbet or any other I find. If you have any tips, let me know) for under $30+shipping. If you are interested in buying it leave a comment below or e-mail me (address by viewing my complete profile top right)
