How did it get to be mid November?

It took me so long to pack up Halloween, that I'm kinda enjoying a cleaner minimal house right now.  As much as I LOVE decorating for our party, the process of packing everything back up completely stresses me out.
That being said, I can’t NOT decorate for Thanksgiving so I have a few things out.
Compared to the 25+ bins of Halloween, I only have 1 bin of Thanksgiving.

When I was packing up my Halloween tree, I decided to keep up a few of my autumn garlands and it's now become my "Thanksgiving tree".

I also decided to protect my pilgrim and turkey blowmolds from the elements and they are now stationed in front of the Thanksgiving tree.

I'm feeling blessed that my family tolerates my holiday goofiness. Gobble Gobble!

First snow and Thanksgiving blessings...

The gnome family in our backyard woods got into the holiday spirit with the anticipation of our first snowfall over the past weekend.
It's nearly all melted, but the heavy wet snow sure was pretty.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, a well-deserved break, and a chance to spend time with family and friends.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving mantle

My single bin of Thanksgiving decorations came out of storage.
I've had good luck collecting turkey planters, paper diecuts and honeycomb turkeys this past year during estate sales.
  Gobble gobble!
I don't know about you, but I'm counting down the days until Thanksgiving break.

Happy November!

It's officially November when the pilgrim blowmolds make an appearance.
The turkey blowmold was a recent addition from Goodwill.  I've been on the "hunt" for him since I found the pilgrim pair at Goodwill several years ago.

I'd be lying if I didn't say that we've been busy every night after work putting away all our Halloween decorations. It's always a little bitter sweet to say goodbye to our Halloween friends.  Happy November!!

Talking Turkey...Thanksgiving decorations around our house

The Halloween blowmolds have been officially relocated to the garage attic and my two pilgrim blowmolds are now stationed on the front porch.

With our cold and snowy weather, I've been tempted to start dragging out Christmas but it took me so long to pack up Halloween, that I'm kinda enjoying a cleaner minimal house right now.
I only have one bin of Thanksgiving and these goodies are primarily located in the living room.
As you can see from my blog header, my newest acquisition are the Indian Gurley candles.
I had loads of turkeys and Pilgrims but now I have a few Indians too.
When I was packing up my Halloween tree, I decided to keep up a few of my autumn garlands and it's now become my "Thanksgiving tree".
Yes.  I have officially decorated my sunroom  tree for every single holiday (including some made-up holidays).  I'm feeling blessed that my family tolerates my holiday goofiness.  Gobble Gobble!

A miniature Thanksgiving...

Although I’ll be cooking a regular-sized turkey on Thursday, one of my many dollhouses is enjoying their own mini Thanksgiving feast.
Emma and I made these peg doll Indians several years ago when she was in the 4th grade. I can't believe how quickly time has passed.

This picture of Josie was taken two years ago.  It's still one of my favorites.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  We'll be having some of Chris's family with us and we're especially looking forward to having Emma home with us again.
She's scheduled to arrive home late Wednesday night.  She'll have spent a zillion hours on a charter bus  from FL.  We flew back on Sunday so that we could return to work and school.
May you and your family find peace and comfort during this upcoming holiday season.

Wishing each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
XOXO

Thanksgiving blow molds

Yes. There are blow molds for every holiday.
Two years ago, these came home with me from Goodwill and when I last checked ebay, they are actually worth some money. Woo hoo!
The complete collection includes an Indian and a turkey.
Another thing to add to the estate sale shopping list!
Yes.  I’m thankful for thrift stores and estate sales who make vintage shopping fun.
Bring on the weekend!

Tweaking the Thanksgiving mantel...

Halloween is officially packed up and my single box of Thanksgiving decorations came out of storage over the weekend.
I'm still on a mission to find Indian gurley candles without resorting to ebay or etsy.

My pilgrim and turkey candles have doubled since last year, but I've been unable to find any Indian gurley candles at our local estate sales or antique stores, so the candle hunt continues!

My newest addition to the living room mantle is the glazed pumpkin next to my turkey planter.  It was made by Josie in art class.
She brought it home last Friday.  Isn't it wonderful?

I still can't believe how quickly November is flying by. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it!

Thanksgiving blessings...

According to Josie's 1st grade homework, she is thankful for the weather...especially snow.
It's hard not to get sentimental thinking about Thanksgiving.  We will have two empty seats with the passing of  Chris's mom and my beloved Aunt over this last year.  On this Thanksgiving, we will count our blessings and celebrate memories.

May you and your family find peace, safety and comfort during this upcoming holiday season.

PS.  Thank you for the wine aprons, Tricia (Thoroughly Modern Me).  They will be dressing up our Thanksgiving table.  I will happily raise a glass in my Aunt's honor.  Cheers!

Our annual pilgrimage...

The front porch is officially clear of Halloween creatures and the pilgrim luminaries have made their annual appearance.    I found them two years ago at Goodwill.

With unseasonable warm MI weather (we reached 70 degrees Sunday afternoon), we spent the majority of weekend outside tending to long overdue yard work and playing a bit of hop scotch.  Hard to believe that snow is predicted for Monday & Tuesday.  Crazy.
I hope you found some time for fun this weekend.
