He had a fun time at class and had the most creative occupation by far (bank teller? yawn). I'm not sure what he will be when he grows up, but I'll be surprised if it's not some kind of scientist.

Career Day
Cole's preschool class had career day yesterday. He was a shark scientist (aka marine biologist). He taught his class all about the different kinds of sharks there are (more than 300, for those of you not in the know).
He had a fun time at class and had the most creative occupation by far (bank teller? yawn). I'm not sure what he will be when he grows up, but I'll be surprised if it's not some kind of scientist.

Making Lemonade
We went skiing on Friday. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time...
...until about half an hour after this picture when Cole got himself tangled up in Floyd's skis and Floyd, while doing (as he calls it) "the snowplow that never stopped" tore up both his knees.
But, there is a silver lining. Floyd was supposed to be in Houston and Baton Rouge this week but instead got to have a sleepover with the kiddo's on the TV room floor last night, complete with popcorn, root beer, and "Bravestar" re-runs on the laptop. Much better than a lonely night in a Houston hotel room.

Cake!
Do you like cake? I didn't think I was a cake person. As far as desserts go, cake was not near the top of my list of favorites. But, a little while ago, I realized that was primarily because I ate either store-bought (yuck!) or from-a-box cakes. Lately, I have discovered that I actually LOVE cake, as long as it is good, made from scratch cake.
A few months ago, my sister and I started a recipe blog so we could share recipes with each other easily. This week, we are having cake week and each posting our favorite cake recipes. If you know someone having a birthday soon or just want to try out some new cake recipes, check it out - http://www.cooklikecrazy.blogspot.com.
P.S. If you are on a diet, you may want to avoid this site. We love tasty food, but it's not exactly low-fat fare - especially the desserts. That's why we run.

Pinky Pie
We recently learned Annie has a favorite color - pink. We figured this out by the way she chose jellybeans from the gumball machine. She was not content to just turn the knob and eat whatever came out. Instead, she would pull the top off and pull out the pinks.
When she got a pink, she would say, "Mine. Hooway!" If she happened to pull out a non-pink, she would give it to Cole.
Here you can see the last remaining pink jellybean.

She also has started choosing her own clothes and pulls out something pink every day. Floyd tried to put blue pj's on her the other night and that was a disaster. She won. I'm not sure whether to force her to wear green tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day or just assume no one would pinch a cute little toddler anyway and let her wear pink!

love is in the air...
My baby brother, Jake got married last week. His wife's name is Lauryn and she was a beautiful bride. She's beautiful every day, but especially last week. It was a great day (minus the March blizzard at the temple) and I'm so happy for the them. Here are a few pics of the happy day...
First, here's the obligatory group shot at the temple. Actually, this is just of my dad's side of the family, so it's pretty small. This is from my sister's camera and I have no idea who took it.

Me, my sista's, my mom, my niece, and my baby girl. Only missing Lauryn.

Here's Lauryn (plus Jake)...and yes, I do know you aren't supposed to shoot into an open window, but the whole wall was windows, so oh well.
So cute - my kiddo's dancing with each other. It only lasted about 20 seconds, but luckily I snapped a picture.
Floyd was at the reception, although most people wouldn't know it since he spent all his time playing with the youngsters in the nursery so I could chit-chat with everyone. And yes, Annie is picking her nose. Charming.
Congratulations Jake and Lauryn. I am really so excited for you.
