Want new releases? Pulp City has got 'em!
New in store this week are a new sculpt for Androida and the Supreme Genesis character called Dr. Warlock. We are really happy to finally resume what will be regular releases for the range, starting with these two great Supremes.
First up is Androida (new) – an updated version of the classic Supreme Hero. Androida was one of the first models sculpted for the Pulp City range, and we are very pleased to be able to give her a new sculpt. Coupled with her new sculpt, Androida's storyline continues to evolve, and the new mini comes with upgraded rules making her a Level 2 Supreme and the first character with the new Field Commander Power (think Leader-lite).
Dr. Warlock joins Androida as the second of our new releases this month. Dr. Warlock is one of the Supreme Genesis characters which were created thanks to our first Kickstarter. Thought-up by the inimitable Drew Wood, this incarnation of his character has inherited mysterious power which he is using to protect Pulp City in its time of need.

Welcome To Pulp City
| Some of the Supremes that inhabit Pulp City |
I am particular going to talk about the game in context of Pulp City Supreme Edition (also known as Pulp City SE).
Pulp City - Super-powered Action
Pulp City began life as a game of super-powered action and has grown to encompass a range of somewhere around 100 minis and counting (just look above for some of the offical paint-jobs for some of the minis).
The minis represent Supremes (the super-powered Heroes and Villains of the game) and their Minions (think goons, robots, and other henchman types of things).
The game has a ton of influences. From comic books and super-hero movies; pulp novels; 80's action movies and action TV; fantasy stories; science fiction; wuxia and martial arts movies; and much more besides.
It is a game with something for everyone, and a game that has tons of scope to build the kind of team you want. If you don't like playing a specific Sub-faction (like Heavy Metal; Blood Watch; Ulthar; Necroplane etc.), then just play as Heroes or Villains.
Pulp City - All Action Skirmish
The game is built around the idea of Supremes (and to a lesser extent Minions) being able to to lots of things, but placing the choice of what they do on the controlling player.
Teams are made up of as few as two models and basically can play up to any mutually agreed level.
Games are fast paced with lots happening even in the first Round.
Models can act (Activate) more than once per Round, meaning games are dynamic. Pretty much any terrain on the board can be trashed as titanic battles take place - the game environment is truly interactive.
Players alternate Activations back and forth, and some actions allow reaction to the opposing players Actions - there is very little down time in real terms.
Plots encourage models to move to achieve objectives. This is no game of static gun-lines, but of decisive action.
There may be no other game where you can see a character like Silverager pick up a hapless enemy Supreme, perform his Spinebreaker Action, then hurl the victim at yet another enemy!
Supremes fire energy blasts; throw cars across the battlefield; run at enemies at break-neck speed climb walls and whatever else we can devise as designers.
Pulp City is a sandbox where anything and everything can happen.
Pulp City Teams
Pulp City is a permissive game; Teams can be made from Sub-factions (for analogy think Avengers; Justice League; X-Men; Brotherhood of Mutants; Sinister Six; etc.), or can simply be a lose alliance of your favourite Heroes or Villains from the wide range of Supremes Pulp City has to offer.
A Team could be formed of models from a single Sub-faction like from the Jade Cult shown here - then certain options come into play; for example, taking the Jade Cult Leader (Green Emperor) allows you to take up to 3 Terror Cotta Warriors in your Team. Whenever Green Serpent takes to the field, at least a couple of Ninjas are always in tow. And if you have enough Minion points to spare (Minion Levels), then you could more Ninjas for a horde of assassins!
Any Questions?
If anyone has any questions about the game, I would be more than happy to answer them, just post as a comment below!

Pulp City Open Beta Is Here (Almost!)
| One of the new cards! |
The downloads should be available from the web-site (web-site link here) later today, so please check it out.
So what is it about? What is this Open Beta? Well this link to some recent Editorial Eyes can give some background as to how we got here.
In a nutshell however we are recreating the Pulp City rules; we hope to make them as action-packed as ever, and hopefully more so. We hope we have made a faster and more stream-lined game with some really fun and cool features. We wanted to rebuild the game so that players did not have to study walls of Action text to play, but instead using some basic 'building block' mechanics can quickly and intuitively get into the game.
From testing we feel it plays faster. There is a lot of depth from team selection to how you use your models, and it will soon be clear there is no perfect formula as to what models you choose (although Leaders and Powerhouses will be key to most play-styles in my opinion!).
The Open Beta is a no-frills document (the full rules with lavish lay-out, art and fluff will follow later this year), designed to allow players to pick up what is happening and dive in. My understanding is that other companies have done something similar to keep their players informed of where things are moving.
So if you play Pulp City or want to give it a try, look for those downloads later today!

Pulp Monsters Editorial Eye(s) & Progress
Maciej has published the second in a series of Editorial Eye posts as we march towards the Open Beta phase of the Pulp City update: Pulp City Supreme Edition.
The article can be found here (click for link), with a preview of a Supreme slated to appear later in the year.
On my own progress, I am diving into the Doc Cosmos vs. Hendybadger Challenge, so hopefully that remains on course.

Maciej has posted a YouTube video of the book after he had just received it. This has whetted my appetite even more.

Mighty Silver Ape
It certainly isn't the best paint-job ever, but it is satisfactory for me for gaming with. So without further ado...the Mighty Silver Ape!
I went for a fairly utilitarian basing that hopefully would look okay alongside my Pulp City minis, but would allow the model to do double duty in all sorts of games and genres, including fantasy settings etc.
Some Gaming Today...
Annoying!
I finished painting the big lump of metal that will is the Mighty Silver K'Wana last night. I then sealed it with spray varnish. I then wandered back upstairs to my painting area, and guess what?
The thing fell on the floor.
Annoying is the word I grasp for, even though it doesn't convey the full extent of my frustration.
I have reattached missing parts, and immediately started touching up chipped paintwork, but I am sure that once I photograph it, there will be some obvious problems.
Anyhoo, hopefully I'll get some photographs of play test games today, and I will photograph Mighty Silver K'Wana as well as the promised laser-cut custom markers in the next day or two.

Busy, Busy, Busy
On Wednesday I am hoping to get a few initial play test games in with material for Pulp City due (most likely) next year. As a consequence I have been painting something pretty...big. I actually hope to get the mini (or not so mini!) finished tomorrow, and so maybe photographed ahead of the play test games, and I promise some in-game shots as well (technology permitting).
The mini I am painting is from Reaper - the magnificent Kabaka K'Wana - a big lump o' metal that will be renamed the Mighty Silver K'Wana for the upcoming games.
