All but Dead, The resurrection comes around..

Kind of fell of the planet with the blog and as far as any hobbying goes, but I've been talking about the downward spiral of my hobby and gaming actitivies for years now and yet somehow it just keeps on having life pumped back into it, whether its gaming with my oldest daughter or just picking up an unfinished model of the shelf , like the Stegadon here and deciding to just finish it.

So believe it or not I started this model wayyyyyy back in 2010!!.. When I still holding on to the idea that a new army would help with the incoming aprehension of WFB 8th edition., Inevitably The Empire rules kept my interest initially and I never did much more on the Lizard Army, and just played Empire until my eventual dissatisfaction with 8th Edition finally pushed me out of game completely  somewhere in late 2011.

This model is currently on ebay   listed at $225.00  I had originally planned on less but there are numerous models I saw priced above it at near or above $300..so I didnt want it to undersell myself in comparision it is listed at best offer thou and I happy to take any reasonable offer for this..considering I sold my original open box one awhile back for damn near close to some retail prices on the new ones. and I of course have a ton of hours into this as its a fiddly difficult model to assemble and paint.

Now of course speaking about todays Warhammer Fantasy, I have had zero interest in the Age of Sigmar, the game , however , a couple recent releases by GW reignited some old interest with me based on the strength of the models alone. GW models of the last decades ostentatiousness is very often in conflict with my minimalist old school tendencies, however recent release seem to have stuck a chord with me. Those being the models in Warhammer Quests Cursed City and many of the current Warcry releases. While I passed on Cursed City the 1st time around (apparently I didnt have a choice as it soldout in a day?) recent news of it release has me interested and I did pull the trigger on this:

Purchased on my interest in the Darkoath Savagers models alone, I do like the Spider brood and the terrain as well..its my first GW purchase in about a decade. and I look forward to building and painting it up.  Interesting enough the game seems pretty appealling to me as well..I have been watching a bunch of videos on playing it.  If anyone who plays it is reading this, appreciate your comments on the game.

I sold almost all my WFB stuff a long time ago, I find it kind of humorous I am interested again and what I do have left is some Lizards and Undead its enough to make a couple extra Warcry warbands. Building and painting all this is a quite a project thou, its going to take some time but who knows you might see some Warcry Battle Reports here sometime this summer or fall, wouldnt that be something?

Dogs and Lizards

I've been up to bunch of stuff lately but lets start with a Warhammer Update. Here we have Braganza's Besieger's a Dogs of War Crossbow unit that's filling the the required 250 point float for the upcoming Midwest Rampage Tourney which is just 2 Saturdays away.

I won this unit at Core Competency 2008, they were initially painted by someone else. I've added 3 more so the full unit is 13 men. I did the banner first, then started touching up the shields by the time I started on the new models, I basically had redone the whole unit..cleaned up the freehand and picked out the missing details. This is cool unit, a Regiment of Renown. They are standard Crossbows but with a 3+ Saves and Braganza himself is tough customers..at BS 5 and 2 wounds

Just the command group and front rank is pictured here, the rest of guys are drying up and need another shot of dullcote..I'll finish them on Saturday. More on Midwest Rampage coming soon. We have some practice games set up this coming tuesday and I'll try to squeak out a battle report and see how these guys do.

So with lots of 8th Edition rules up the air, I haven't been able to make a ton of progress on my Lizardmen. Here however is my test Saurus Warrior. I have 45 of these guys to do..So I am really just trying to figure out if I do them all this way, or change each unit up with a different color scheme. We are still in the planning stage here. I'm somewhat out of my element having worked on Human figures for so long..its going to take me a bit to hit my stride with the Lizards.

Not quite sure about the spear tip yet....I'm not planning on using any metallics in this whole army, Ideally all workable materials are going to be stone or bone, trying to work in some NMM's ...were I can.

Here is my first Stegadon, again not sure if this is going to be the Engine, my other Ancient or the Standard Model..really depends on how the other colors come together. Plan is paint all the Stegadons first then once I figure out the loadout..do the howdas and characters, The next one is going to Grey, Dark scales working up to a light belly and face..not sure on the 3rd on yet.

Once we get some concrete info on 8th Ed and I get this next tourney out of the way, I will be digging into these guys seriously!.

Lustria's Finest.

Even thou I've got VC, Dwarfs and Goblins sitting around in Boxes, I went ahead got some Lizardmen..mainly to do a Blood Bowl team..but as I built my BB Lizards I found I really like the models and the bits and I will be doing the full army. They fit my play style well and are different enough from Empire that I can enjoy it I am going to wrap my Empire Army up for the time being adding a few final pieces for the upcoming Core Competency Tournament here in November and then Adepticon 2010. While I've got Daemon's built and most of them painted 3 colors, they are far from done and I'll be working on them at my leisure..honestly I don't have alot of fun playing them..I try to make them as interesting as possible for my opponent I love the FW GUO model I have I am going to go put an 100 x 100 base and display it If I ever use him in a game it'll be for fun so I'll just deal with the additional frontage.

It will take me quite a while to get Lizards built and painted up. So Daemons may make occasional appearances..I just need to find a combination of units I can enjoy playing and not feel abusive. My VC are on the back burner for now and will rear their head one day..but I seriously need to unload the goblin and dwarf stuff I have.

Anyway here are shots of my converted Lizards for Blood Bowl.. My Saurus are new Temple Guard models with some Saurus Warrior bitz, the Kroxigor has had the weapon removed..of which the clubs head is attached to the tail and I add some arm spikes. There are 6 Skinks on the bench still, as I am still messing around with Greenstuff helmets..we will see how they come out.
