Happy New Year!

Are you planning on having some fun
on New Year's Day?

Here is my fun #1 for today.

It's a little free kit
came with my purchase at TQC
last month.
I'm making this snowman ornament
as soon as finish posting this pic on my blog.

filled with the cute woolen ornaments,
I started dreaming about having a tree
like hers someday...

So this will be my very first step
to get there!

Then here is my fun #2 for today.
Am I being too ambitious?

It's a new quilty project
based on the private block swap
I had with my Japanese friend Ms. m
early last year.

We set the theme with
and exchanged four blocks.
And her blocks are all hand pieced!!!

My plan so far is to make a bunch of
HSTs which will be a part of the border
all around the blocks.

Speaking of HSTs,
I'm going to use my new weapon
just received over the holiday
to make HSTs for this quilt.
According to my figure,
I will need 40 of 1 1/2" finish HSTs.
We shall see how it goes...

As the blocks are in lovely
red, pink and chocolate colors,
I named this project as
"Valentine's Quilt".

And the last one,
but definetely not the least,
I'm sharing this beautiful quilt with you.

It was an unexpected gift from
my quilty friend Ms. K
as a part of the Christmas gifts.

To my surprise,
she knew how much I love the red fabrics!
Not only my favorite reds,
but the border fabric is THE favorite one!!

She explained that the backing fabric
was one of the sale fabrics found at
Quilter's Coop we've visited together
back in last summer.

Did I see this lovely fabric there?
Nope!

I remember that she sees every little thing
in each shop we've visited and
occasionally had to remind me
some of my favorites are in the sales bin
as I'm one of those people
who don't see anything for some reason.
I wonder what I'm doing while shopping?

So at the end, she finds so many goodies,
but that wont' happen to me...

It is still such a great benefit for me
to shop with someone like her,
who is a professional shopper though.

And the prim sign in the first picture
on the top of this post
is also from her.
Thank you Ms. K!!

So that's all for now from me and
I'm telling you I'm not going to
make a new year's resolutions this year
as I've never achieved one in the past.

But we all know that
we will still enjoy our needlework...

Summer Fertilization of My Hexie Garden

It was a happy mail day today!

She and I have just recently met each other through Hexagons flower group. Then as we talked, I got such a generous offer from her. She is helping me to grow my Hexie Garden with her Jo Morton's fabrics! All the squares are cut into 2 1/2" size for my 1" hexies. There are 50 sets for my flowers! OMG, 300 precut squares!!! Can you believe that? They are ready to be basted!!

Beside all the squares for my hexie project, She also enclosed some Civil war scraps from her past projects. They are also lovely :)
They are not only just Jo's fabrics, I haven't seen most of them as I'm so new to Jo's thing. How excited!!! She also found a whole packet of JLWC #7 at her local craft fair for me. What a perfect find!
And the last, not the least, some precut hexie templates for 1". As I'm so cheap, I haven't used such fancy thing, but now I'm just about trying them :))) Oh, some of you may have wondered what about the rotary cutter sitting by all the goodies? Well, there is a story behind, but I'm not going into the detail of that this time. She sent it to me just because she had the extra. It's a 60mm, huge one....

Thank you so much Heather! I'm thrilled to receive such a wonderful package from you. I'm sure my hexie garden is now all ready to be in full bloom!!!

While I was gone

"Christmas Market", " Church at Christmas" & "Christmas Tree Sale"
From "Christmas Tapestry in Cross-Stitch" by Inga Palmgren
Fabric: Fremme Linen 10B, Bleached
Fibers: DFT #97

Christmas project already? Why not!

This lovely red book filled with Swedish Christmas Tapestries has arrived at our front porch along with some beautiful gifts -will share with you later, last month. You may not the only one who express such a huge surprise to see me actually got hooked up with them. I'm also one of you - still can't believe myself stitched these at all. But sure I did!

I stitched them over one thread with single strand. It went fairly fast and almost blown out from the window!!

Then these blocks are the swap pieces from my friend "m" san. Her hand pieced beauties are the true heirloom pieces!!!

I'm planning to finish them with the fabrics enclosed with - I believe they are from "Pink Chocolate" line?. Not sure how it's going to be like yet, but will try my best not to destroy her original taste...

And I'd like to show off a little more from her package.

The above are designed and hand made by her with my favorite Dresden Plate motives :) The cute pouch on your right is a very good size to keep my all the goodies for knitting. And take a close look at the coaster! Yes, your eyes must be glued on the top part of it, I can see. That is a pin cushion!! What a creative and practical idea, isn't it? The coaster come with a pincushion! I fell love in with this one when she showed off hers on her awhile back, then here is mine now ;)

My B-Day, Christmas and Valentine's Day came all at once!!!

At last, but not the least, this is my favorite part of all. Very detail oriented with a touch of the nice and heart warming scent of what she sprays to the fabrics.

Thank you so much "m" san for such a wonderful things! I still feel like I'm drawn into the deep fabric ocean...

Till next time.
