Sanford, Florida Postcard
Glenda, another IG friend, sent this pretty card of Magnolia Square Fountain, Sanford, Florida.
She wrote that every Thursday there's an event at the square called, "Alive After Five", and then every Saturday, a farmer's market is set up. Sounds really nice!
Thanks very much, Glenda. :)

Silver Moon Drive-In, Lakeland, Florida
Last week while in Lakeland, Florida, I just happened to find a pretty cool (still operating) drive-in.
The Silver Moon opened in 1948. It has changed ownership numerous times, and even took a direct hit from a tornado in 1950. This 67 year old relic is quite the survivor!
Admission was 35 cents way back then, but now is $5.00. I'd still call that a bargain.
There aren't that many drive-ins in existence anymore, so to find one in such great shape, and seemingly thriving, is a real thrill! :)

Florida Rest Area Review
Here it is, short and sweet: The rest area on I-10 in Pensacola gets two big thumbs up from me.
"Why?," you ask. Well, because in addition to shiny clean restrooms and vending machines, it has this fantastic display of a Blue Angel jet in flight!
And because if aviation just doesn't do it for you, then there's ample colorful flowering bushes to brighten the day of even the grumpiest of travelers.
And finally, because the state of Florida cares about us, and wants us to stretch our weary legs by taking an enjoyable 0.256 mile hike around the rest area perimeter on the "Stretch Your Legs Trail".
It makes you want to jump in the car and head there right now, doesn't it? :)

Big Willy
Once upon a time, little Willy dreamt of growing up, becoming an entrepreneur, and overcoming his fear of killer whales.

9TEEN87 License Plate Postcard
A real life license plate turned postcard!
And look at that frame, "I'D RATHER BE COLLECTING POSTCARDS". How cool is that?!
Thanks, Brenda (9TEEN87), for sending this fun card my way!
What a great stamp choice for this particular postcard. :)

Panther Postcard
This is one fine looking panther hanging out in Everglades National Park in Florida.
Thanks, Denise, for another fantastic card!
<<< not a panther stamp, not even close. :)
Annnnd, this is the pink panther, Everglades panther's distant cousin, just hanging out wherever. :)

Kennedy Space Center USA Postcard
Look what landed in my mailbox yesterday! Brenda sent this postcard featuring a fantastic photo of a night launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis.
I had always wanted to see a Space Shuttle launch, day or night, but it never happened, unfortunately. I'm super envious of anyone who did (Brenda!).
This is my first incoming card of 2013.
Many thanks!
It's so cool when stamps match the card topic! That "First Man on the Moon" stamp is my favorite of the bunch.

Uh Oh Florida Postcard
This very funny postcard was sent to me by Brenda in Florida, USA, this past summer. It is now winter. I'm a tad bit late in posting.
It still makes me chuckle every time I read it :)
Many thanks, Brenda!

Another Bunch of Incoming and Outgoing Postcards
I couldn't resist sending Edith in the Netherlands a second helping of Elvis, since she really liked the first E.P. card that I sent to her.
The Elvis stamps have left the building, only ho hum stamps left.
I don't mind that this card got a little scuffed up on its way here, it's still a very pretty view of Tampa, Florida...Florida...Florida...Florida. Say it with me...Florrrr...i...daaaaa. I need a vacation.
Thanks very much, Judy!

Heidi from Netherlands sent this fun "official" card. It has a few things I like all rolled into one....animals, clouds, uniqueness. Good job, Heidi, I like it! Thank you very much.

David in Germany listed planes as one of his favorite motifs.
I can't believe that I mailed it with not only crooked stamps, but with upside down stamps, too. That's just wrong!
US-1095377
Maria in Russia listed lighthouse as one of her preferences.
<---Lighthouse stamps, too.....all right side up!

I know some people don't like multi-view cards, but Tatiana in Russia said "any type of card is good for me", so off it went!
More ho hum stamps

I think this was a dud card for Neva, even though she said she loves to go camping in her profile. No comment whatsoever from her.
I'm thinking the cartoon mosquito and hilarious blurb on the back of the card left her doubled-over in laughter and unable to type. Yeah, that's it!
And last, but not least.......

This huge 8"x6" beauty was sent to me by 11 year old Dima in Russia. It's the Naval Cathedral in St. Petersburg in a wintery setting and it's gorgeous. It really is, because I rarely use the word "gorgeous"!
Thanks a ton, Dima!
That's all for now, thanks for stopping by!
Oooops. Had forgotten to show off these nifty stamps, too, when I hit the "publish post" button a day or so ago....I notice that crooked stamps don't look bad at all when someone else does it.

Florida Flashback
Just trying to warm up on this cold, dreary Illinois morning by thinking about the warm breezes of Miami blowing through the lovely palm trees.
::::::::::waiting::::::::::::
Ahhhh, that's better, all warmed up now.
Mind over matter works every time!
(With a little help from the furnace.)
Palmetto tree
I see more sunsets, than I do sunrises. This sunrise in southern Florida turned into a Mother Nature masterpiece!

Clewiston, Florida USA - Quickie Road Trip #1
Nothing spectacular, just pics from this past May.
All pictures from this trip.
I rarely see oranges anywhere other than a grocery store.
Not sure what kind of bird, but the nest was huge!
Spanish Moss fascinates me.
No sightings.
