Hello All,

On June 30^th of this year, I moved out of my apartment and took up refugee status in my wife’s parents’ basement. As a result, finding time and space to engage in hobby activities has been difficult, to say the least.

Any time I decided to airbrush, I had to go out to their screened in deck. It took time to set everything up and it all had to be taken down and put away again before I could wrap up for the day, so I needed several hours uninterrupted and half of that was spent on setup and breakdown. As you can imagine, that was extremely frustrating.

Painting by hand was a little better, but I still needed to be mindful of setup and breakdown. I was able to commandeer some space in my father-in-law’s office by trading my services as a pack mule (carrying in groceries) and page (cleaning his guns).

I also started working on creating decorative bases using green stuff and Textured rolling pins from Green stuff world. This was the easiest one to engage in and was rewarding for the first couple months. But how many decorative bases do you need, right? So, I was forced to find ways to actually paint.

Normally, painting is a daily activity for me that allows me to relax and re-center. After going on five months with only sporadic painting, I’m not easy to live with. Fortunately, my wife is far scarier than I am, so if I get out of line, she can easily stuff me back in my place.

Pretty soon, I’ll have my studio setup in the new house and I’ll be back to regular painting. This is good because considering how expensive buying and outfitting a house is, there’s no way I could afford therapy at this point.

Updates- 2013

Hello All,

Just a quick update to show everyone what I have been up to lately. This is not a "Deep reflections" kind of post but more of a snapshot of the Hobby world I live in. 

New Stuff- 

TAU

With the release of Tau yesterday I decided to take the plunge and get some stuff. I got the book and some of the new models. I have only just started on the book so it may be some time before I dig into the new kits.

Empire Pirate Army

Thanks to an overwhelming positive response (on the blog and off)  I have decided to go with this idea. This should be fun and mostly painless. I have a large Empire army already that I can raid to get some of the units. There will need to be some painting adjustments to make them fit but it will be faster than starting from scratch. I am really excited about this project!

Older stuff-

Dark Angels "Task Force Vengeance"  - TFV112013

This project involves building a Dark Angel (DA) army that is made up of  all 7 chapters that are associated with the DA legion of old. This is built along the lines of the old Crusade armies from 2nd edition. I am attempting to complete a unit a week. So far I am three for three.

Other Projects 

I am working on or gearing up for several other projects. I will go into them when I have something to talk about. My wife says I have the attention span of a crow in a jewelry store so we will have to wait and see what pans out.

Good Morning,

As I write this it is 6:30 in the morning and my work place is testing the fire alarms! This sucks. I feel like I am stuck in a 70's science fiction TV show and a battle is going on.




A real post is forthcoming. The Noise is a little distracting and I am finding it hard to concentrate with all this smoke. Is it getting warm in here? ;p

Under the weather

Hello all,

I have been sick since Saturday morning. I got up with a slight twinge in my throat and I knew this three day weekend would suck. I was like a psychic because the next 4 days were pretty rough.

The weekend started out so good too. I took the wife out to dinner and a movie. Dinner at Fridays and "Life as we Know it" for the film. Both were enjoyable. obviously the quiet before the storm.

Saturday was the worst (A sore throat makes me miserable company. Just ask my wife.) I did not feel particularly bad other than my throat but it was enough. The wife took me out to try to make make feel better. we stopped by Huzzah games. (my first time there) I really liked the store and for a few minutes I forgot about my suffering. She bought me a GF9 Tac template and bought herself the Showgirls crew for Malifaux. I saw Bill from the "gamers lounge" and said hello but did not want to get too close since I figured I was coming down with something and did not want to "share the love." They were playing Malifaux and I was a little down because I could not stay to watch and learn. I plan to return soon. (The Wife is reading the Malifaux book and thinks the Tuesday night games might be a good idea.)

The rest of the day just got worse. By Sunday afternoon the sore throat was gone and I thought I was past the worst of it...
I was wrong. The stuffy nose and fever started Sunday night and continued through Monday into Tuesday. I tried to sleep on Monday night only to find that I was unable to do so. Whats even worse I kept waking the Wife up with my "belly Aching." I ended up spending the entire night watching "Life after people." At 2 AM I sent my job the email for not coming in on Tuesday. I spent Tuesday recouping and catching up on sleep.

Wednesday was my first day back. I am pleased that I got many "welcome backs" and "glad your back" My boss told me I was not allowed to take any more days off ever... I guess I was missed. :)

I finished my set of defense lines and the last of my Orlock and Goliath gangers.

My "Spirits of Vengeance" crew is really coming along. I finished the Onryo I think they look Smashing.



LORD OF THE RINGS (S.B.G)

I painted up a unit of 8 Kazad Guard and a Dwarf Standard Bearer.


I also painted Buhrdur The Troll lord from the Angmar Army!



Anyway not bad for a few sick days!!!
