I'm still here...

Hei taas kaikille! Minulla on kesäloma, ja sen myötä paljon aikaa. Silti tuntuu siltä etten saa mitään aikaiseksi. No ehkä lomalla kuuluukin lomailla.. Jotain olen kuitenkin tehnyt. Tein J:n äidille pikkiriikkisen huoneen vanhasta avainkaapista. Ajatuksena oli sisustaa kaappia vain sen verran että siitä on helppo jatkaa omanlaisensa tekemistä, mikäli haluaa. Oli hauska tehdä vähän pienempää projektia välillä. On se vaan niin erilaista verrattuna isomman nukkiksen tekoon. Jotenkin vapaampaa..

Hello everybody! I'm enjoying my summer holiday, and I have plenty of time. Still I can't get anything done. Well, maybe that's just what the holiday is for... But I have done something. A little room for J's mother, from an old key box I found from the flea market. The idea was to decorate the room just enough so it would be easy to continue from there. She can decide if she wants to paint or put wallpaper on it etc. I liked this smaller project for a change. There's a difference compared to a bigger dollhouse. This was kind of more free..

I made the bag from leather

Juhlin toukokuussa kolmikymppisiäni, ja sain ystäviltäni lahjakortin Pikkuruiseen Puotiin. Ostin sieltä alla olevan Reutterin tiskialtaan. Ilman lahjakorttia en olisi varmaan koskaan raaskinut ostaa kapistusta. Nyt se muistuttaa Rotting Roofin keittiössä minua ihanista ystävistäni!

I turned 30 in May, and my friends gave me a gift card to a local shop which sells dollhouse stuff. I bought the Reutter sink from there. I probably would never have dared to buy it without the gift card. Now it stands in Rotting Roof's kitchen, reminding me of my lovely friends!

Enää ei tarvitse kellariinkaan kiivetä köyttä pitkin. Haluaisin tehdä portaiden alle jonkun karmivan mörön kurottelemaan. Lonkerotkin voisivat olla hienoja.. Aika näyttää.

There's no need to climb a rope to the cellar anymore. I want to make something scary under the stairs. A boogieman. Tentacles would be cool too. Time will tell.

Alla joitain fimo-kokeiluja. Kylpyankasta tuli kiva, mutta kuvia en siitä osannut ottaa. Kala kaipaisi vielä vähän maalailua.

There's some Fimo-experiments below. I like the bath duck, but I can't take a decent photo of it. The fish needs some more paint.

Back in Business!

Täälla taas. Läppärini otti ja kuoli tässä joulunpyhiä ennen, mutta toimii taas, kiitos kotonani asuvien tietokonenerojen! <3 Nyt siis esittelen teille tekosiani, ja vähän muidenkin.

Veljeni teki minulle rungon alla olevaan sänkyyn, ja minulle jäikin sitten ne hauskimmat puuhat, eli puukoristeiden ja jalkojen liimaaminen ja maalaus.

My laptop died just before Christmas, but is working again thanks to the computer-wizards living in my house! <3 Therefore I can show you what I've been up to, and a bit of others doings as well.

My brother made the hull for the the bed below, and left all the fun parts for me! Like gluing on the legs and decorations and painting the bed.

Ompelin sänkyyn patjan ja pari pikkutyynyä, ja siskoni virkkasi kuvassa näkyvän ihanan, ruskean päiväpeiton! Kokeilin krakleerauslakkaa sänkyyn ja lopputuloksesta tuli ihan kiva!

I sewed a mattress and a couple of pillows, and my sister crocheted the beautiful brown bed spread for me! I tried crackling varnish on the bed and liked the result! Click the picture to see it closer..

A hint for my sis: Rotting Roof is a very chilly place.
So maybe socks and scarfs and shawls and..  =D

Rotting Roofin arkkitehti suunnitteli suuressa viisaudessaan portaat olohuoneeseen! Minulle jäi kokoaminen ja maalaaminen. Vielä yhdet portaat tämän jälkeen, niin talossa pääsee liikkumaan suhteellisen esteettömästi.

Rotting Roofs Architect, in his great wisdom, designed stairs for the living room! He left the assembling and painting to me. One more stairs to do, and it will be relatively easy to move around the house.

En sittenkään tehnyt kirjastoon hyllyjä itse, vaan ostin häikäilemättä kun halvalla löysin. Hylly tarvitsi vain pienen operaation ennen kuin sain sen mahtumaan kirjastoon. Jossain vaiheessa operaatiota aloin pelkäämään että tuli tehtyä tyhmyyksiä, kun sahanterä ei ollutkaan tarpeeksi syvä, mutta onneksi sain jyrsittyä veitsellä hyllyä sen verran että sain sen napsautettua poikki.. 

Instead of making, I shamelessly bought the bookcase for the library. It was cheap. It needed just a little operation to fit the room. In some state of the operation, I started to feel a bit stupid. The saw blade was not deep enough, it didn't reach through the bookcase. Luckily I was able to gnaw the thing with a craft knife just enough to snap the halves apart..

I was lucky not to break the whole thing!

Liimasin istutustikuista uudet seinät puuttuvien tilalle, laitoin vähän koristelistaa ja maalasin.

I glued on new back boards where they were missing, put on some decorative trimming and painted the whole thing.

I glued wooden squares for support..

 Nyt hyllyyn tarvitsee enää hervottoman läjän kirjoja ja koriste-esineitä.. Ruskea viltti tuolilla on myös siskoni tekemä.


Now all it's missing, is a huge pile of books and decorative objects. The brown shawl on the chair is also made by my sister.

I cut this rug from my old shirt..

Ja nämä kissanpennut ostin Doloreksesta. Yritin maalata vekkulit muistuttamaan omiamme..


I bought these kittens from Dolores. I tried to paint them to resemble our own three cats..

Ehkä ruokasali? - Dining room, perhaps?

Noniin, nyt on liimattu listoja, tehty kaidetta ja maalailtu sieltä sun täältä. Olohuoneen ovesta puuttuu saranat ja portaat ovelle.. Tässä on sama ongelma kuin kylppärin portaiden kanssa. En osaa päättää mitä haluan. Punaisen ja vihreän huoneen ikkunoihin pitäisi myös kehitellä jonkinlaiset ristikot..


Okay, now I have glued some floor lists (is it the right word?), made the reeling to the end of the staircase, and brushed some paint here and there. Hinges are still missing from the living room door, as are the stairs to the door. Same problem than with the bathroom stairs. I have some serious problems deciding what I want! I should also make some kind of lattice for the windows in the red and green room..

Tavallaan vihasin näiden portaiden tekemistä, ja vielä olisi yhdet isot ja parit pienet tekemättä. Tästäkään urakasta en olisi selvinnyt ilman kultani mittausapua.. Noinkohan olisin päässyt helpommalla jos olisin ostanut valmiit portaat.. Tai tehnyt jotakin toisin? No siitä huolimatta, pidän tätä murheenkryyniä kauneimpana asiana koko talossa..


I kind of hated making these stairs, and yet there are a few more to go, I haven't yet figured out how to do them.. Again I needed help with measuring and counting, and my knight in shining armor was there!! I wonder, if it had been easier if I had bought them from the store.. Or if I could've done something differently? Well, any way, I find this nuisance to be the most beautiful thing in the house..
