Sharpen Your Skills With Challenges
I love to work with challenges! They always give me new ideas, and many times get me using things together that I would not have thought of. Combining 2-3 challenges helps me stretch my skills even further and gets me thinking outside the box. This morning, I finished just such a project and I am so pleased with the results!
I really loved this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and I am hoping to find time to use it multiple times this week for some different types of cards. Then I saw the current Color Dare challenge to use black & white with green and I knew my first project would be a birthday card for my green loving hubby. His birthday is next month & now I am all done ahead of time - yay me! Here's the example sketch from Mojo Monday:
The black & white of the challenge made me instantly think of the For Always paper pack. The pattern is more subtle than the picture shows; I had to sharpen it up a it to get the green to look better.
Of course a party needs glitter, and these sparkly balloons from the Artiste Cricut cartridge were just what I wanted. I used the Green Glitter Paper from CTMH, and the black is Glitter Cardstock from American Crafts. Cutting both materials really made me appreciate the CTMH product even more, and I will be ordering the Black & Gray pack the next time I place an order! It cut so smoothly, in a single pass, where I had to use multi-cut with the chipboard then ink the sides to cover the gray chipboard. And better than the Pow! option from AC, the colors of the green glitter papers are nice and bright. Since this is a heavier material, I adhered the balloons with my trusty Liquid Glass so they will stay put.
I stamped on the tag with a Hostess Exclusive* stamp set, The Party Is On, in Black and Topiary ink. I used Black Distress Ink on the edges of the tag (and on the sides of the black balloon, and the edges of the background paper), and finished it off with a Baker's Twine bow.
The wide green ribbon on my card is from my stash - it was part of packaging on something we bought. Keep your eyes open when you are buying things like blankets, pajamas, and more, especially at Christmas time!
*Hostess Exclusive stamp sets are sets that can be bought at a reduced price using Hostess Rewards. You don't have to host an actual gathering at your home to get Hostess Rewards; you can use the EZinvite system like an online "book party", or contact me to place an individual qualifying order that earns Rewards. You can see all of the Hostess Exclusive stamp sets in the online catalog located here.

Design Team Day with Lisa
Just WOW! That's all I can say about this sneak peek from Lisa.
That photo just pops against the For Always papers, and I love the addition of the floral touches (which I think are from Echo Park, but I could be mistaken). Let's go visit Lisa's My Creative Endeavors blog and see this whole project! Remember, if Lisa inspires you to shop with me, be sure to click on the link that says "Lisa's My Creative Endeavors Sent Me!

Happy Anniversary!
Today is my 17th anniversary, so I made hubby this card yesterday afternoon. I just received this stamp set from the new Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide, and I knew this image would be perfect for this card.
This plane was calling my name for some reason, but it has a star on its side. So, since there was also a little heart in the set, I stamped that separately, cut it out, and popped it up over the top of the star. I also stamped a couple of clouds from the stamp set, cut them out, and also popped those up.
I colored everything with Copic markers. It's hard to tell in the photo, but I used a light BG color on the clouds for a little depth and definition. Before adhering everything, I sponged the edges of all of my papers in coordinating inks.
Here are the supplies I used:

So Happy Together
Well, so much for having more time once the kids went back to school! It would probably help if I didn't get sick right away, but so be it. I did have time to make a layout a bit ago that I'd like to share. I belong to a fun group on Facebook called Croppin' Chicks, and they are posting sketches weekly for us to work with. This one is from a couple of weeks ago, and I really liked the design. I also got to scrap my kitty-boys, which is super fun because not only are they really cute, they are both "neutral" colored so I can use whatever paper I want!
I actually decided to use the For Always paper pack and MyStickease because I thought the black & white designs would look really cool with the kitties. I decided to use the Lagoon (yes, that blue is bright turquoise - I need a better setup for taking scrappy pics!) and Honey colors from the kit along with some matching embellishments. I decided to add a ruffle with the For Always Textiles, which might be a little girly for boy cats, but hey, they are cats, what do they know?
I thought this sticker was the perfect title for my layout! These two boys would not be nearly as happy without each other. I added a couple of colored sparkles for interest.
Here's the fabric ruffle. I just laid down some Scor Tape and finger-ruffled the fabric strips I cut. I left the edges unfinished, and covered the top edge with a border sticker popped up on 3-D foam adhesive.
My embellishments are just stickers from the MyStickease pack layered with 3-D embellishments for dimension.
The sketch called for strip journaling, which is not usually my thing, but worked well for this layout where I didn't have a lot to say.
If you're interested in the products I used, here's the list:
