I See Changes in my Future….

Color changes that is.  I’ve fallen pretty hard for a color I never thought was me.  Boy was I wrong.  It’s SO me.  The only problem is figuring out how to decorate with it, without my house looking like a giant Orange Sicle.

If you’ve guessed Barcelona, then you are RIGHT!  I L.O.V.E. this color, it’s in my top 10 for sure.

I really just wanted to try it out and see how I felt about it.  I have this old carpenters tool box, and I thought I would add some color to it.  I’m so glad I did.  I see a lot of big changes in the next house.  I’m thinking lots of Duck Egg and Barcelona.

Have you tried any colors lately that you didn’t think you would like, but ended up loving?  Please Share.

I Put a Bird on it!

When in doubt put a bird on it.  Birds make everything better.   ASCP doesn’t hurt either.

I went to Hobby Lobby, and bought this adorable stencil.  Actually I bought two, but you have to wait to see what I did with that on.  bwahahah…that’s my evil laugh, convincing?

ASCP, Old White.

Close up.

Fake plants for cloche.  That’s about as original as I was feeling.

So what do you think?  Pretty easy, affordable and cute.

Un, Deaux, Trois

No Really.  DEAUX!  lol  I get to live with this error forever.  I’m not even gonna try to fix it.  I’m over the fixing of this piece actually.  Beyond OVER!

I painted it chateaux grey and then decided it was missing something, so my bestie printed out Un DEAUX Trois so I could stencil it.  Lucky for her I still LOVE her!  lol

More Pink and Gold….

You know me and the gold…lol  it’s an addiction.  Lucky for me it’s not quite as dangerous and my craigslist or cleaning addiction.  They both run me ragged and exhaust my funds.
I was in Lauren’s rom the other day an noticed her little blue basket had been written on, wonder who could have done that?  So I painted it.
I have a before picture but you aren’t going to believe this, my extended hard drive is BROKEN again!  Yep, good old Stanley knocked it off the counter.  It’s not as stressful the second time around.  Especially now that I know the Geek Squad can fix it.  If then can’t I at least have my other old one, and won’t lose everything.  Is this positive thinking or what, I’m not even crying in my ice cream
So here’s the after, sorry about the no before.
031
Back in place on her desk, it’s kind of a catch all for lip gloss, jewelry and other misc. girly stuff.
033
I have another fun project to share soon too, as soon as I fix it!  Oops.  Don’t you hate it when you are almost done with a project and then you mess it up?  Yep, me too!

I've jumped on the Flag Wagon....

That was a terrible pun, huh? Yeah, I know.

I decided that this board I've had on my kitchen table for a while now, was due for some paint.

I thought what could be easier than adding some white paint?

I sanded a bit to distress, easy peasy.

Ta da!  Better?  Yes/No?

On the flip side, updated to the 'new blogger' and it stinks.  Hopefully I can work out the kinks, or may have to switch to something else.  Sigh.  It's always something!

Lauren's Room, Make Under?

Hubby finished Lauren's room Monday, he flew back to Afghanistan Tuesday.  Talk about cutting it close.  lol  (Miss you babe!)

We aren't starting the house search until May.  I'm taking a break from it.  It'll just give me that much more time to get the house ready to rent and start packing it up.  I'm going to be doing some purging, the plan is to have some stuff in my Etsy shop by the end of the week.  Fingers crossed.

Here's the before of Lauren's room.

Green and lavendar walls, with a lavendar ceiling.

The Ugly Truth

I'm a big fan of before and afters, love them really, but it's the during that is UGLY!  Really ugly.

First you clear out the room.  My little helper picking up misc toys that ended up under bed and desk.  She even dressed for the occasion.

Then you put all the stuff in the loft and master bedroom, cause where else would you put it?

The only cute factor, so far.  The are pretending to have a garage sale.  They are my kids.

In totally unrelated news, the armoire got a second coat of paint!!!!  All it need now is hardware and gold paint on the details, oh and a good waxing.   Of course the room has to get painted first.  Hubby leaves Tuesday and  I need to get the most out of him now.  lol

So there you have it, the during, pretty ugly huh?  I can't wait to show you the after!

Fresh Paint

Hey there strangers!  I know I've been missing in action a lot lately.  Sorry about that.  I know you all understand.  Hubby has been home and we've been enjoying our precious family time.  Plus the never ending house hunting and unexpected trip to NH.

This week we've all been sick.  The kids have double ear infections and I had the flu with a sinus infection.  That's how we roll.  We like to do things big.  We are all finally on the mend, now fingers crossed Hubby doesn't get sick before he flies out Tuesday.

I know what a bummer, he flights out on Valentine's Day.  Oh well, not complaining, we had a full month together.

So on to the good stuff.  We actually painted the kids bath this week.  Miracle right?  We start on Lauren's room tonight, so I will have another reveal soon.  Crazy right?

The bathroom before.

Anything Goes #51

I'm changing the Party up a little, it's still Anything Goes, but I think I'm going to do a separate post for Features. What do you think? Feed back is always welcome, and appreciated!
And those of you who have degrees in design, feel free to comment!

Hubby is gonna be here any day!  And, boy do I have a to do list for him!  Ha.  Poor guy, never gets a break.  I'll still be posting while he's home, got to show off his handy work.  Tee hee hee.  I'm evil I know.  Here's what I've come up for him so far.

Go to Home Depot to buy everything we need to do the home improvement section of the list.
Touch up paint
Paint Lauren's room including ceiling
Paint guest bathroom including ceiling
Repair trim in guest bathroom
Caulk guest bathroom shower surround
Fix towel bar in guest bathroom
Change air filter in the attic
Replace light bulb in the office
Get replacement SS cards for Lauren and me, he's just gonna keep me company for this one.
Take both cars to the shop.  Oil, brakes and fluids.  Wipers, maybe.
Take both cars in to have them washed and vacuumed.
Caulk by sliding door in the dining room

I've got to keep him busy, he's home for 3 weeks.

This was at my door today, love UPS!!  Plus I love Robyn Story Designs for sending it to me!  They have great customer service and package everything up so nice and safe.  Got to take care of precious!  Old white and some Emperor's silk, looks I'll be painting an armoire this weekend!

Totally unrelated news, I registered Lauren for Kindergarten today, full day Kindergarten!!!!  She's pretty excited to be going to the same school as big brother.  Not sure if he shares her enthusiasm.

Lastly, here's the Stan Man, he's getting so big, and he's such a good boy.  If I could only train the kids to be so good?  hmmmm

Progress

I'm making progress on the armoire, and I just wanted to share with you what I've accomplished so far.
I may not have attended online school for design, but I feel like I have a knack for it.

This is what it looked like when I brought it home.  Notice all the stickers, really stickers?  Then written in marker was the phrase "Change how you see, not how you look."  Again, written in marker, so it had to go.  It all had to go.  I couldn't paint over it, the paint was peeling, so it had to come off.

This was taken after I pulled the stickers off, see, some of the paint came off too.  She's still madly in love with it, even tho it look like this.

Finally where we are today, after stripping it for 4 days!  lol  It was actually pretty easy, there's just a lot to strip, and the dog can't live in the kennel forever!  lol  Poor Stanley.

I still have some paint to get off from around the handle.  I can't figure out how to get the Bakelite handle off.  Hubby will be home in less than a week, he said he would help.  I should have the paint by then too.  I need to fill some dings, not all of them, just the big ones.  I want to keep some of the character.

When I'm finished I share all the info about my special mix of paint that the fine folks and Robyn Story Designs whipped up for me!  Love them!!

New Kitchen Signs!

Here's my kitchen, not sure if you can make out the signs under the cabinets all that well, but I wanted to show you a before.  These signs have been taken down and I've painted/stenciled new ones.  I'm not a sign painter, but I'm pretty happy with the end result, and these are much more country feeling.  I'm really not sure what direction I was taking the kitchen in, but it appears to be country.

First sign.  I painted them yellow and stenciled them in a dark palm green, then glazed them in tobacco.

I couldn't for the life of me come up with another phrase that didn't have 'fresh' in it, so Sweet Tea won.  I was drinking my crystal light sweet tea at the time....hmmm

Larger view, the rest of the kitchen was a little cluttered with projects, so this is the best I could do.

So?  Do you like them, what do you think?  Let me know, I love your feed back!

xx

Candle Holder Reveal

Check out my Party going on Wednesday & Thursday every week.

Oh my! I finished a project! I can't believe it either.  I did do the shower curtain the other day, but this was a little more time consuming, just a little.  I took me two days to do it, so see a little longer.  FYI, the shower curtain took 20 minutes!  lol

I've seen these big  chunky candle holders all over the web, and decided to make them myself!  It was easy too, some 4x4s cut to size at Home Depot and some decorative wood plaques from Joann's, a little primer and paint.

Literally, $30 including candles, not a big price to pay.

The candles have a vanilla fragrance to them, which I'm sure I will notice as soon as the paint fumes are completely gone!  Maybe I jumped the gun bringing them in?  Oh well, they are dry.

A little closer up.

Right at home in the office.  I really love my office, can you tell?  I feel like I spoil it, can you spoil a room?

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest project, happy to cross it off my list!!!  xx

Really, I have a list.  I had to make myself a daily chore list, so I could get all the important stuff done.  I left  myself time three days a week to work on projects.  If I get the chore part of my day done fast enough I can work on whatever, but I found that I was lost with out a list.  Plus if gives me time to relax.  I was done with the chore section by 12:30, and that included working out.  I've had all afternoon to work on this project and cuddle with the kids.  We watched the 12 Princesses, Connor wasn't thrilled.  He kept asking when there would be fighting!  lol
