Back again after a long break.

So many things have happened in the last year. My mother found out she had breast cancer, went through chemo, radiation, a lumpectomy, and beat it. Thank you Lord and my Mom for being such a trooper. One of the new items on my "to do" list is to make some hats for other women going through chemo. I'll try to post some photos when I can come up with some nice hats.

I have also been busy making some baby quilts and of course crocheting blankets like crazy. I did a lot of crocheting in waiting rooms during my Mom's appointments, and of course while sitting next to her in the chemo chair. For some reason, we were always the last ones to leave. I am grateful that she is now cancer free, and we hope to keep her that way!

Tomorrow I hope to send off the latest set to a lovely return customer who has requested a baby blanket in blues and grays with booties and a hat to match. I decided to knit the hat, because sometimes I just prefer a knitted hat. I like the tight stitches and "stretchy-ness" of a stockinette stitch.

Simple Blue Boy Set

I'm back and trying to get into the swing of blogland again. I just finished up a blanket, hat, booty set for a lovely customer in New York. She asked me to put together a simple blue and white set for a friend who just had a baby boy. It's nice to do simple and sweet sometimes. I used Caron One Pound white and light blue -- a simple 4 round granny square in light blue with a join-as-you-go edge in white. The booties are done using my favorite booty pattern over at Lion Brand. Click here for the pattern.

I also included a plain blue fleece blankie that I added a reverse single crochet (or crab stitch) edge. I think it's a nice little extra to have handy. You can never have too many little blankets with a new baby!

Finishing up some projects and starting some new

I finally finished my huge purple flower afghan. Wow, was it big and boy, did it take awhile, but it was so pretty when it was finished. I sent it off to my customer yesterday. I hope she likes it.

I also completed another custom order. In this one, I used colors similar to a supplied photo:

You can see the original bedding image in my previous post.

Two more custom orders to go plus a new one that came in today...

I received a message from a very nice customer in Maine. I've worked with her on several blankets. She asked if I could create something for a friend's child who has just been diagnosed with cancer. He is one year old. It breaks my heart to think of a little child with such an awful disease. I tried to think of something special and came up with this schematic:

This is a rough draft, so I'll be tweaking as I go, but I hope I can bring it to life! I tried to think of something that might brighten a one year old's day. If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to them! Hope everyone is having a bright and cheery day as well :)

Little boy blue - A work in progress

I'm also finishing up a blanket for a new little baby named Adam. I'm using Lion Brand's Baby's First for this one. I love this yarn. It's super soft, chunky - but not too chunky - and a cotton/acrylic blend. The colors are very sweet too. Here I'm using splish splash and bean stalk (even the names are cute).

I'm going to edge it in the two colors when I finally finish this up, so check back later...
