Meeting new friends through a headache.

The pattern for sale has been removed. Cheers to all of the supporters I have met over on Instagram! One in particular is Faye at Little Dove Designs. She has some amazing cross stitch patterns in her shop, and is a very talented crochet artist as well. Below is a photo from her blog of a beautiful daisy blanket she created using the daisy pattern as her base. Really lovely.

Back from our trip

I wasn't able to get as much crocheting done in the car, but I'm almost finished with my rainbow blanket.

I don't know what I was thinking when I packed for our trip to West Virginia. Up on the top of the mountain was much cooler than I expected. At least we had a couple of sweatshirts and long sleeved shirts for nighttime.

Here's a picture from one of our site-seeing excursions - Blackwater Falls.

Very pretty scenery in Canaan Valley. I wish I took my camera out more to get some photos of the mountains. The kids loved hanging out with all of their cousins. I had a lot of fun too, but it's always nice to come home.

Onward to finish some projects and start some new...

Over the rainbow

I have an overflowing basket of end-of-skein yarns that have been sitting around for too long, and now that I have some extra time, I've begun work on a scrappy rainbow-flower baby blanket. It's nice to use up these scraps, and I really like how cheery and colorful it is coming along.

Wow, it's been awhile since my last post. I've been busy (with life and) finishing up some custom orders - another purple flower throw for a very nice lady up in Michigan:

I also finished the blanket for baby Adam, the one year old with a rare cancer:

I was trying to think of things that might make a one year old smile, so I hope he likes it.

My favorite part is the little car I came up with. It makes me want to say "beep, beep".

I also tried, for the first time, a binding method on the edges. It was quite a lot of work, but I really love how it came out. I shy away from double crochet blankets because the edges always look so raw. This process is like a quilt binding. It wraps the unruly edges:

Finishing up some projects and starting some new

I finally finished my huge purple flower afghan. Wow, was it big and boy, did it take awhile, but it was so pretty when it was finished. I sent it off to my customer yesterday. I hope she likes it.

I also completed another custom order. In this one, I used colors similar to a supplied photo:

You can see the original bedding image in my previous post.

Two more custom orders to go plus a new one that came in today...

I received a message from a very nice customer in Maine. I've worked with her on several blankets. She asked if I could create something for a friend's child who has just been diagnosed with cancer. He is one year old. It breaks my heart to think of a little child with such an awful disease. I tried to think of something special and came up with this schematic:

This is a rough draft, so I'll be tweaking as I go, but I hope I can bring it to life! I tried to think of something that might brighten a one year old's day. If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to them! Hope everyone is having a bright and cheery day as well :)

Look at this beautiful cotton thread I got on ebay. I have a love/hate relationship with ebay. I love them when I'm a buyer finding a great deal, and I hate them when I'm a seller racking up fees everywhere. It would be nice if there was some other competition, so they didn't seem like such a monopoly.

Etsy, on the other hand, feels like more of a community to me. I have met so many really lovely people there.

I believe I will have to get some cross stitch ideas together with this fabulous thread...
