1995 Collector's Choice #219

Card Review: 8.5 It's actually a pretty good looking card.  Two nice photos, full career stats, and they were reasonably priced packs.  Still, it's over produced, overly slick on both sides, and just all in all has way too much white.

1994 Collector's Choice #466

Card Review: 7.9  There's not a lot I can say about these Collector's Choice sets put out in the mid-90's.  For young collector's like me who liked putting together large sets and couldn't afford $3 packs, they were one of the only options.  I liked them back then, and while won't call them classics by any means now, I think they've aged relatively well.

This card features two of the more interesting Wallach photos to ever appear on cardboard. The back photograph would have made for a very interesting front.

Fun Facts: Wallach only wore #25 for one season, switching to #29 in 1994.  As 3rd base coach for the Dodgers in 2011, Wallach wore #26

1996 Collector's Choice #187 Silver Signature

Card Review: 8.3 This card is a slightly uglier version of the '96 CC base card.  I like the addition of the signature, but am not wild about the gray border.  Parallel set inserts are probably the one insert that I have the most patience for.  Some are pretty cool, and there's one for every card making collecting a true set possible.  More often than not though they were just less attractive knock-offs. Not that the base version of this one was a master piece to begin with.

1996 Collector's Choice #486

Card Review: 7.0  Not a great photo, but probably the best looking of the few cards that depict Wallach in an Angels uniform.  Nice write-up on the back of the card.
Fun Facts: Wallach hit 8 home-runs in 57 games with the Angels

1996 Collector's Choice #187

Card Review: 8.5 This card features a solid design, decent photo, and wasn't very expensive to buy in packs.  I liked most of these Collector's Choice sets for all of the above reasons.  This also includes complete career stats on the back of the cards, something I've always been a huge advocate of.

1995 Collector's Choice SE #94

Card Review: 9.1  This really isn't a bad card.  The blue's a little loud, but I can live with it, and the back of the card is great.  These cards were one of the few sets at the time not to cost an insane amount for a pack.  I'm pretty sure they were a dollar a pack.

This was one of the last sets that I bought a lot of packs of before going on a pack buying hiatus for about twelve years.  In '95 I bought a lot of Topps, a lot of this SE, and a good amount of Fleer (don't ask me why).  In '96 I bought a decent amount of Topps chasing the non-existent Wallach, and in '97 I bought a few packs of Topps hoping for another non-existent Wallach.  I dind't buy another pack of cards until 2008 after that.

1997 Collector's Choice #136

Card Review: 9.0  This was Wallach's lone 1997 card.  Topps really dropped the ball.  Upper Deck gets a ton of credit for including Wallach in this set even though he had retired prior to the season.  This used to be the norm.  Shame on Topps, Fleer, and Donruss.
