Happy Birthday Marama

It's hard to believe it has been a year, but our baby girl is growing up.  Of all our babies she is both the best eater and sleeper. She loves playing and laughing and has a surprisingly developed sense of humor for her age.  These qualities along with her beautiful dark eyes and features often have us referring to her as our little Polynesian.

The evening of her birthday we all got to enjoy a Daughtry concert at one of the on base parks sponsored by the Air Force Reserves.  The kids had a great time playing at the park with friends and Marama enjoyed rocking out until she crashed.  The following day we took a trip out to white sands, which consists of miles of pure white (gypsum) sand dunes, with some friends.  Unfortunately it was pretty windy, but the kids had fun rolling around in the sand, sledding down it and just being kids. Then we finished off the day with cake.  I will have to hit up my friend who is much better about taking pictures than I am for pictures of the concert and white sands, but I did take a couple of pictures of the traditional first cake.

Here are a couple videos showing how far she has come in the past year

Teah's Ballet

Here is a video of Teah showing off her mad skills a couple of months ago at the start of her ballerina phase.  It is a bit long so feel no pressure to watch the whole thing, although I find it rather amusing.

Yeah we should probably get her lessons.

Poppies

Somehow, between the planets aligning properly and rain in the winter, we got quite a spectacular poppy bloom this year.

Happy Birthday Teah

It is official, Teah is now 6.  She if independent, full of energy and personality, and is stronger willed than her mama.  She loves to make things and frequently proclaims herself "super crafty."  She is also a self proclaimed ballerina and decided to chose to have a ballerina themed birthday party this year.

Here are some pictures of some of the girls playing freeze dance.  Each girl got a ballet skirt, ribbon dancer and hair clip.

The cake/cupcakes ended up being a total failure this year.  The frosting was supposed to be pipped around on top of the cupcakes to form the ballerinas tutus. However, I made the frosting while tutoring and ended up skipping several steps.  Apperantly they were necessary and I endup up with frosting that would only ooze.  After spending forever trying to fix it, I finally gave up and declared the entire cupcake the ballerina's skirts.

Despite the cake failure it was a great birthday with many wonderful friends, celebrating another year of our wonderful and ever growing little girl.

Mini Petting Zoo

Last month Teah and Xander got invited to a friends birthday party and for that party they brought in a mobile petting zoo.  It was a wonderful experience for the kids and included the tamest goat, turkey and chickens Manu had ever seen.
