The Newest Addition

We would like to introduce the newest member of our family, Fiona.

Fiona is boxer/bullmastiff mix and is the perfect addition to our family, fulfilling all of my "if we are to get a dog" requirements. For example, she is past the puppy stage and does not chew on ANYTHING (we are currently working on a plan so we can to get her chew on a few dogs toys we got her), but is still fairly young (between 2 and 3 years old). She is not jumpy or yappy. Weighing in at 62 lbs, she is also big enough to serve as a protector. She is completely trained, ie follows commands, does not run away, puts nothing but food in her mouth, and is house broken. I have to train three kids so I figure I don't need to train a dog too. With her size she could easily pull over the kids, yet they have each had turns walking her without any problems. She also is already seeming to develop strong family attachments and goes around to each member of the family to say hi when we get back from being gone.

Furthermore, she does not have any food aggression issues, which is a must with Marama around.

And she is amazing patient with the less trained inhabitants of our house.

Welcome Fiona

Parking lot rodeo

On Friday Teah got a handout at school about a free rodeo in the parking lot of a large western store in the area. Since we also like free we decided to take the kids for a bit. The got to enjoy bounce castles, a little petting zoo where they fed the animals, attempts at lassoing, face painting, free ice cream bars, a hay ride, and playing in pile of hay. They also had free horse rides, but the line was too long so we did not end up taking a horse ride, much to their disappointment.

Teah's New Accessory

Last year I discovered that Teah had a hard time seeing smaller print, such as the print in a pair of scriptures.  We took her into the eye doctor and discovered that she was a bit far sighted. Since kids at her age typically loose or break their glasses fairly quickly, the eye doctor recommended holding off on glasses and just bringing her back in a year to get tested again. This year it was decided that she should go ahead and get some glasses and we picked them up yesterday.  In addition to having a cute new accessory, she sucessfully tested them out yesterday by getting out the scriptures and reading a few lines.

First Day of School

Here are some of pictures from Teah's first day of school. She is still warming up to the whole school thing, but I think she is really going to like it.  (Incidentally she has since lost another tooth and is currently missing 4 teeth).

And since Marama is the baby, she gets some random pictures posted too.
