PTV Backstory

"Not long after the phone, television and internet services merged, a single Holographic system, the Trimensional Reception, Interaction and Broadcast Endevour became the universal method of communication. Whether it was to chat with your Gran or watch the latest sports event on the other side of the world, Trimensional was the only way to do it. Being such a mouthful, most referred to it as TRIBE and most devices, as Trimensional Viewers, or TVs for short.

The Personal Trimensional Viewer was an extension of TRIBE, a small encapsulated unit that would sit on your desk and show you a live, photo realistic, 3D Hologram of a chosen loved one, 24 hours a day. It didn't matter where they were or what they were doing, they'd be doing it in the little glass dome next to your mug of coffee.

The concept was purely innocent and technically perfect... but it soon became apparent that there was a serious social flaw in it - namely every time your mother went to the toilet or had a shower... It was a disaster. One of the fastest selling products in history became one of the fastest failures - no one wanted them and they were returned in their tens of thousands.

One rather lonely owner of a robot repair centre didn't have any friends. He just had robots. Lots of robots. Thousands of robots. They weren't even his either, not most of them - most of them had their own owners and they were merely in the grounds of one of his estates while they were being repaired, serviced, or in some sad cases, dismantled for parts.

Keeping everyone updated on the progress of their own unit was tough, as many considered their robot "part of the family" and the thought of them standing in a forest or field, waiting for attention from a maintenance Sprog, meant that a progress bar in the system just wasn't enough - they needed personal reassurance that everything was going fine. The constant calls were enough to drive a business owner potty!

A chance mistake at the recycling depot changed this repairman's fortunes, when instead of his usual weekly delivery of robot parts, 5 hovertrucks full of returned Personal Trimensional Viewers were dumped on his doorstep. Once the initial distress had passed, a thought occurred. A number of units were set up to provide realtime views of individual robots as they were worked on - this was exactly what he needed!

A few frantic calls later and he'd contacted the dejected inventor. Explaining his idea, both men suddenly saw a brighter future ahead and it was agreed that all returned units would be forward to the repair centre instead of recycled.

Life was much simpler now. On picking up a faulty robot, the anxious owner would be handed their own Personal Trimension Viewer. This would be tuned to show their very own Rotund or Ruckus 24/7, right there on their desk at work or coffee table at home.

Being able to see their brave little guy any time of the night or day wasn't just a relief, people found it fascinating to watch. Before he knew it, people were bringing in their Sprogs for tune-ups, adjustments and refitting, just so they could watch it all being done, like some sort of mechanised reality TV show.

It became apparent that while people may not want to watch other humans any time of day, they did want to see what their robots were doing and many asked if they could keep the PTV once their bot was returned. They could of course. For a price.

Cris Rose x PodgyPanda Ramsay and Podgonauts Collaboration

Ramsay (description by Cris)
Designed to look like a Panda, this was at the specific request of a chain of theme restaurants who wanted all their robots to cook, serve and look like animals while doing it. Outfitted with a splash-guard to stop him getting prawns in the face and a big-ass jetpack, Ramsay was often in the air as each restaurant was a huge bio-dome, complete with trees, plants and running streams. The tables themselves were little open-top pods, hovering around the landscape, allowing diners take in the view while their robot chef cooked down below and jetted up with their orders. Ramsay's programming was simple and he was good at his job...

Podgonauts (description by Podge)
The first batch of Podgonauts are rearing to go! These fine lads of the Panda Exploration Core are equipped with everything they need for their top secret mission. High powered Jetpacks, advanced spacesuits and more courage then you can shake a stick at! What secret mission are they about to embark on? Stay tuned to find out!"




Prints
As part of the collaboration, PodgyPanda has been working on some fantastic artworks that will be turned into high quality lithographic prints by Fugi.me! They'll be released shortly after the resin and feature a number of panels that stand alone in their own right, but that together tell more of the story. Prices are very affordable, around the $20-25 mark and will see one released every month.

Once announced, all prints will be available directly from PodgyPanda's store.

Release Details
Released on April 5th, both first editions are limited to just 5 each and sport very similar colours. Both are the same size and weight at 3" x 3.5" x 3.5" and 250g (9oz)

Ramsay Edition A comes in Tangerine Orange with articulated head and removable dome, priced at $160 each.

Podgonaut Edition A comes in the form of the Panda Exploration Core, dressed in Jumpsuit Orange each with a laser engraved disc embedded in their chest. They also have articulated head and removable dome, but every single face is unique! Not only that, but one lucky buyer will find their Podgonaut comes with a chase in the form of a little suited Monkey mechanic in matching colours and a rusty finish applied by Cris! All this for the great price of $130 each.

Along with the Edition As, I will be releasing a very limited run of 3 "Dark Chocolatier" Ramsays for $190 each photos of which will be shown on the day. PodgyPanda will be releasing a number of one-off Podgonauts too, numbers and prices TBA, but they will go up along side his Edition As.

Full Sets
If you buy a pack containing a "Full Set" you're guarenteed one of each sculpt with no doubles. Each of the 6 bits is also a different colour, but as the sculpt/colour combo is random, every set is different! This is also ensured by the two randomly coloured Bytes that come with their little Bit buddies. In total, you're getting 8 figures, all bagged and header carded.

Light / Dark 3 Packs
There are are 2 options when it comes to 3 packs. The Light Pack consists of the lighter Hues, the Dark Pack consists of the darker Hues. Pretty simple really. There are 3 Bits per pack and the sculpts are random, but you're guaranteed the 3 colours shown!

Bits n Bytes are a range of resin robots from Cris Rose. Featuring 6 popular Sprogs (these are the Bits) and 2 versions of Rotund (the Bytes), these bots are the first to be offered in solid coloured resin and in 1/24th scale (instead of the regular 1/12th). Standing a delightfully cute 1-2" tall, ever single detail and proportion of their larger brothers is completely replicated, down to the Sprog's 2mm tall crowns. This has only been possible due to prototypes with 5 times as much detail as those used in the past.

These are not suitable for children and are small enough to be swallowed, please don't buy them for under 15s or give them to small children!

Backstory

Rostrum was built to fill a gap in the market, the need for a medium-sized bot with a lot of grunt. For most small businesses, a flock of Sprogs was usually adequate to achieve most heavy duty tasks, known as they were for working hard and sharing the load between them. Even large industrial scenarios found this setup ideal, especially when supported by the odd Rotund and Runcible units. Installing Sprogs directly into heavy-lift bodies became a popular choice for the largest factories and recycling companies, but the incredible cost of these custom built mechanisms proved too great for those smaller outfits that needed more punch per tonne.



Designed around the same core as Rotund, the focus of Rostrum's 5 foot frame was on power and robustness. Equipped with 2 huge, interchangeable arms and a thick, armour-plated body, this bot was slow, yet purposeful. The standard model featured a reinforced head that could be used as a battering ram when thrust forward, a feature specifically requested by the emergency services, should the ideal route be through a wall. Manufacturing looked for greater accuracy and control when moving heavy components, so the multi-spectral optics of the precision alignment head was a popular choice. The 3rd standard head choice was the classic holo-projection unit that many had become used to on other models, preferring it for it's familiarity and wide range of applications.

Whether repositioning heavy machinery, crushing boat hulls for recycling or tearing the roof off a blazing hover car to free it's occupants, Rostrum's immense strength and compact size satisfied a wide variety of roles.



However the situation that placed him so fondly in the public eye, was also the least expected. The largest global chain of nightclubs suddenly replaced their entire staff of bouncers with Glossy black Rostrum at every one of their 700 venues. When they weren't terrifying troublemakers before ejecting them bodily, they were doing what everyone had really come to see, breakdancing in formation on specially reinforced iron dancefloors.

Cris Rose Rotund Mk2 Release March 2nd...!!!

Rotund Mk2 is a 4" original resin robot by Cris Rose, featuring 3 interchangeable heads. Timed for the second anniversary of the original Rotund's release in 2009, two colourways will be made available March 2nd.

Rotund Edition A is a run of just 12 bots in the same autumnal yellowy-orange as Sprogs Edition A, each one coming with one clear head and two heads with black eyes.

Rotund 2 Year Anniversary pack is a run of just 5 Rotunds and includes a matching Radcliffe Sprog, both sporting the original Dirty Copper colourway. The same three heads as Edition A are packed with this Rotund, tho the heads are sporting bright white eyes.

Backstory

"Rotund Mk1 was a companion robot designed with small children in mind, playful and simple, yet robust enough to take anything a day's play could throw at him.

Rotund Mk2 was never intended as a replacement for the Mk2, but as a companion robot for the teenage years once the Mk1's childish charms had been outgrown. Still solidly built, this 4 foot sidekick had a knack for being able to vary roles on the fly through a swift head-swap or two. The classic see-through projection dome of the Mk1 endured, a teaching aid able to display holographic representations of the study material in question (or the latest holo-thriller if correctly "tweaked"). Some new additions included a friendly-faced companion head for fun times and hijinks and a stern, multi-spectral security head to monitor the halls or enforce a curfew. The latter also had some sweet wide-angled lenses perfect for shooting skate vids for HoloTube.

Rotund Mk2 came with these 3 heads as standard, but as the unit became popular, demand for varied and unique applications ensured some interesting models became available."

Roche, Rockford and Rue are all emergency and crowd control robots designed for use inside buildings and facilities where Ramparts would be unable to maneuver. Hovering out of their little alcoves when needed, they form protective walls by stacking on top of each other. Each model has their own personality that determines how they react to situations.

Cris Rose Custom 3A Bertie: "Plasma" Revealed...!

Backstory

Recycling is a very important thing to robots, it helps provide replacement parts for older models no longer manufactured and supplies materials for their repair and renewal. Plasma had done many jobs since he was built, but for the last 15 years he's been working at the scrap yard where they'd retro-fitted a plasma generator to his back and replaced his lost hand with a high temperature plasma cutter.

The dexterous digits of his left hand still allow him the ability to undo bolts, re-orientate pieces he's working on or remove those valuable replacement units with care, but his speciality is cutting up thick metal plates like butter or quickly turning tangled messes of metal into easily recycled chunks.

One day, so much of him will have been replaced that there will be nothing original left of him, but as long as there's a need to recycle and parts are available, he'll keep on cutting.
