Red Cocktail

Every week I tell myself this week I will post very often as I have so muchrecipes waiting for me to post but then sitting and writting something here that is really hard, especially I am lazy and then I am not good at writting.
But I have so much recipes and pics for these dishes in a file in my computer i think I should post more often, otherwise what is the use in doing all the work taking the pictures etc.
As usual I was in fb and then saw Aparna adding a delicious Toddy Picture in a fb group we are in and I was like wow that looks good and she gave the link to her place and I saw how yummy it was and that inspired me to do the post.
As she was posting for Simone's event which I always wanted to join but I forget or something else happens etc...
So I ratteled in my maps and saw I haven't posted this one, and very excited I say to myself yeah I will do this in my blog and looks for the recipe in a hurry, but I don't find the recipe in none of my cocktail book, not that we have so many cocktail book we just have four.
But then you know when one looks something in a hurry one don't find it.
So I will post the recipe in the weekend as I know it was a easy drink to make and also know I made them from one of the books we have.

Black Berry Margarita

In August Shyama was doing Summer job and she was lucky enough to get a summer job in the City Hall public Library ( this is is second year) .
She loves working there as she like people who she works with.
All her friends do summer job for a month, that is normal here.
I guess it is also good for parents as we never have to give pocket money for her and anwyway she is really carefull with her money, she is like she is saving up for going for a world trip after her studies :-)

Anyway it was 31st of August and her last day of work and we decided evening we should celebrate her last day of work with a cocktail and some snacks. And here we love any excuse for a party.
So I made these Black Berry Margarita .
Recipe is for 1 person

3 tbsp of blackberry sauce ( I used some 250 gm of blackberry, added a splash of water and then puredd it and ssieved it so you don't have the seeds) with this much i could make 6 glasses, i didn't weigh so can't give you the excact amount i used, plus keep few aside so that you can decorate it when you serve them)
50 ml Tequila
20 ml Triple sec ( i used this, but if you don't have this you can also use Cointreau)
10 ml lime juice
10 ml sugar syrup ( the recipe said 20 ml, the first glass was made with 20 ml and we thought it was a bit sweet so when we did the second serving used only 10 ml)
Shake all the above ingridients in a cocktail shaker and pout into a Margaritta glass with loads of crushed ice.
My ice was not crushed that good as i was too lazy but when i make next time I will sure crush it more.

Going fully Blue

F/4 - Exposure 1/250 sec - ISO 250 used 50mm lens
If you see our drink cabinet ( well you can't call a cabinet as all the drinks are kept inside a big shelf) one would think we are the biggest boosers, which is far from true, we do love a glass of wine on weekend ok couple of glasses of wine then :-) and now and then we make a cocktail, aslo we make always cocktails when we have friends over.
And one game we play with one of our good friends is they have to guess what all drinks are in the cocktail and it is so funny , they will be smelling, tasting just to find what all drinks are in the drink and by the time they almost got all the drinks in it , it will b efinished so mostly we go for second :-)
So we have so much drinks and liqueurs because every time we take the cocktail book we end up buying something new as we alwasy seems to need some new drink when we make a new one.
f/3.5 - Exposure 1/250 - ISO 250 used 50 mm lens

I am sending this to Aparna's monthly photography challenge this month, which is Less is more, So let's keep it simple
I do agree to it as if there is no props etc.... you really see the food than getting diverted to what all is surrounding the main ingridients.
But said that I do love my props, and I am coninuously buying props when ever I see something which I like.
There are shops in my town I go at least once a week, well just say more than once sometimes thrice, not tha tI buy every time props, I just go and check if they have something special and then sometimes I buy them if my budget allows me that month :-) ir I wait and buy another time .

Mango Cocktail

When ever I go to facebook I see my Indian friends mentioning that they went to the market and bought juicy ripe mangoes and here I am with no Indian shop aroung so don't have the opourtunity to get hold of the fresh juicy mangoes.
So I just drool in the pics they post of juicy mangoes.
Few days back I went to the supermarket and I found they had this Mango fruit syrup from Monin and I coudn't resist buying them as we do make a lot of time coktails on weekends or when we have guest.

On the bottle itself they had this recipe for Vodka cocktail and Vodka is one of our favourite drink as till now that never give me headache :-)

If you don't have this syrup I am sure you can make this cocktail with fresh mango pulp which i am sure would be much more tastier.

For a 120 ml glass.
30 mlLe fruit de Monin Mango
40 ml Vodka / Gin / Rum ( I used Vodka)
10 ml lemon juice ( Used lime)
Few cubes of ice
Put everything in a shaker , shake and then strain and serve.

Brazillian Night

My teenage daughter plays violin in the Youth/Adult orchestra and hubby conducts that Orchestra.
So every friday evening they have rehersals and when both of them comes home after the rehersals , the first question mt daughter ask is what is the sanck tonight and hubby asks is there any special drinks .......
mostly it wil be red wine, but when I am in a cocktail mood then the bottles from the shelf comeout and I will be shaking and stirring ( trying to be a real bar woman) to make some yummy cocktail.

So this is what I made on one of those cocktail mood friday evening.

50 ml Batida de Coco
50ml Vodka
10 ml Blue Curacao

Measure everything and pour into a cocktail shaker with some 5 cube of ice. Shake them well and pour through the sieve to a ice cold Martini glass and serve.
You can garnish with what ever fruit you have .

Mojito

When I was in India we never had any alcholic drinks, I guess back at home it was not something one did, have anykind of alchool drinks atleast females ( well I am talking about when I was a teenager which is more than 2 decades ago) or should i say 3, that would be a bit too long :-)
Well if my hubby reads this ( he never reads my blog so no probs :-) he will say yeah now see the indian talking she should drink Nimboo pani than this :-), that is what he tell me always as a joke.
Can't help it as you know I blame my drinking habbits to my MIL as she is the one who taught me to learn wine etc............. now a days she don't have to ask F do you want a glass of wine , before she can say wine i am yeah yeah i want ................
Not that we have drinks everyday, when ever there is a party then drinks are just pouring be it in my place or in my inlaws place.
So this is one of those drinks which we made when we had a party.

Raspberry Milkshake.

This is going to be a very Short post. As I have nothing special to write this time, just a simple Milk Shake for which is hosted this month at Priya's Easy N Tasty Recipes. I don't think there is a recipe for this, I just aff ahandfull of raspberries, fresh or frozen, , a glass of milk and few ice cubes and give a mix in my mixer and that is it. Sometimes i add a bit sugar if the berries are not sweet.
This has been lying in my draft from last summer. So now Priya has choosed pink this month I thought why not make use of them.

So Karkaé drink is my entry for her event.

The year before we went to Egypt for holiday. And we had this drink almost every day.

And when we were in Aswan we had it more than once a day, as it was so hot there, that it was so refreshing to have this cool drink.
Ofcourse you can have this warm also as normal fruit tea.

While we were in Aswan we bought three kilos of this dried flower.
Have been making this when it is warm summer.
