Sight Seeing At Cannery Row, Monterey

AFTER OUR HEAVY LUNCH AT FISHERMAN'S GROTTO, it was time to shed off the calories but we ended up taking a trolley to downtown to Cannery Row.  I did not know what to expect, just followed our tour guide and explored the town... Upon reaching Cannery Row, I saw something similar to my hometown, Ipoh....

Monterey Canning Co. in US...
Ipoh Canning Garden in Malaysia...

Cannery Row’s Immigrant Heritage
The Monterey Bay has been home to many diverse cultures throughout history. First inhabited by Native Americans, then settled by the Spanish, it later became home to many Chinese, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese immigrants.

This the trolley which took us to Cannery Row...
Free of charge...
We walked around the vicinity and have a feel of the town...
Here and there, we walked everywhere,...
And on the way back to Sacramento, we stopped at the St Luis Rey...
And that was the end of our day trip to Monterey....
No shopping, just sight-seeing...

Complete Meal At Old Fisherman's Grotto, Monterey

THE BUZZER SHOOK IN MY SISTER'S HAND... and we quickly walked back to the restaurant for our lunch.  We were feeling very hungry by then.  Yes, the restaurant was full, the food must be good compared to other restaurants which were quite vacant.  The one we chose is called Old Fisherman's Grotto and the staff was really nice and friendly too.

We were given a free appetizer after our main dish, we were served desserts, they were on the house too... We only have to pay for our main dish... reason?  I think it has something to do with ex-marine officers for serving the country.  :)
Display at the front of Old Fisherman's Grotto...
Fried Calamari and Artichokes...
Clam Chowder was very nice too... creamy.. the way I love it!
I ordered Rock Sea Bass or something like that...
Fish with potatoes and vegetables... around $17
Montgomery Fish...mango taste-like with sweet potatoes and vege... $25
We ordered two of the Sea bass...
Pasta with seafood.. Salmon, shrimps and clams...
This one is a mixture of chicken, sausages and rice in cajun sauce...
As for desserts, we have this... Chilean something...LOL..
Each of us were supposed to be given one cake each but we were too full...
And we just ordered three instead of five though they were free  :)
This is very nice.... but I have forgotten the name....
Tiramisu...
And finally, our rounded faces after the heavy lunch....
The bill came to around $140 for the five of us...
Next.. we got to shed our calories!

Fisherman's Wharf At Monterey

UPON REACHING MONTEREY, we parked our car for four hours, and the parking spot was a mile away from the Fisherman's Wharf.  Actually there were many vacant spots near that area but we did not take the chance, we preferred to walk since we were going for a heavy lunch around that area.  I did not know what to expect to see in Monterey, it is my first time there, all I knew was that we would be taking our lunch there... and walking a mile to the wharf is not a problem for me....

Weather was 60degrees plus and I was told to wear thicker attire...yes, it was very breezy and cold when we stepped down from the car though the sun was shining brightly.  This is Pacific Ocean and any place near bay area, it is definitely cold.....

First thing upon reaching the Fisherman's Wharf, we looked for food... the place we chose was packed, we made the reservation and were given a buzzer to hold while we walked around the vicinity....
From the deck....
A panoramic view of the sea....

Summer Season Fruits

WOKE UP AS EARLY AS 5AM... got ready to set out for another day trip to another state, Monterey.. Never been there before and the journey took around three hours, stopping at two rest places and a fruit barn to purchase some fruits.  There were advertisements along the freeway and the signs attracted us to make a U-turn even though we overshot the place.  Must U-Turn!

Signs that wrote Avacado 6 for $1.. Fresh oranges 10lbs for $2.99... Kiwi 7 for $1.... strawberries, cherries, all their prices now are immensely low!  How not to be tempted to buy especially we have ran out of fruits at home.  Ever since I came here in March, I have been drinking a glass of blended fresh juice every morning and I certainly need fruits and more fruits for my "backside problem."  LOL...
Getting ready to "fly" for the day trip....
Fruits Galore...
Giant sweet strawberries...
Bought some variety of fruits before we continued on our journey.....
