Before it's all gone

For lovely Autumnal color that is.                                                                                                                                           Hamamelis 'Jelena ' keeps it's leaves a little longer than the other's 

My mystery daisies get everywhere , lucky for them that they go so well with the Amsonia.

And the Japanese Anemone .

Pennisetum spathiolatum clumps have recovered this year after being dug up and divided too many times.

Leucosceptrum stellipilum 'October moon' is one of the first things I planted in the garden .

Big leaves dropping from Magnolia macrophylla . I've scooped them all up and added them to my leaf mold bag.

Nicotiana longsdorfii just keeps seeding and making more plants.

Another Mystery plant, I've no idea who you are.

My "Tough love" sale tree is defiantly no longer the Charley Brown  tree I brought home  several years ago.

It taken quite a few years . But  the drive way planting is getting there.

A last bloom  ?

In door excitement

Excuse me for being a little bit excited . I've got flower buds on my Orchids . All summer they just  quietly  grow those fat roots. But come Autumn ...flower buds . I think they like the light in my sunroom and the temperature is still warm enough for them.

I've make note of when they were blooming last year. I think it was after Christmas, so I've  got a while to wait. Orchids   are in no rush. 

I do have one  miniature Streptocarpus  blooming , the others seem to be having a rest .

The pottery moves

It's getting a little cold in the pottery shed. So I've moved my mess to the sunroom .  This time of year it gets crammed full of tender plants . But I've cleared a space around the table .

A few things in the October garden

It was a lovely day for be out in the garden . Raked a few leaves, swept the pavement. and sadly started putting all the out door furniture away . 

 And  a nice light for picture taking .

Lockhartia lunifera

Just after Christmas last year I had the mad idea that I needed indoor plants to nurture  in the winter months .   Maybe something  that would bloom  through the winter months ...

Some how  I started collecting miniature Orchids. They're small and fit on the window sill, they mostly like  normal indoor temperatures, need watering once a week , a little misting , morning light . 

They languished out doors all summer.

As the temperatures are getting cooler I've brought them into the sunroom.  This is the first of the blooms   , even without the blooms , look at those  braided stems.
