Nestorian Infestation: the Second Game

Last week I had a great INQ28 game with my friend Tommy! It's always nice to set up the terrain and have a quick game and a beer.

We played the second game of our Nestorian Infestation campaign. It has been an ongoing project we have been working on for over two years. My Genestealer Cult warband has even been featured in Blanchitsu!

I really recommend checking out the battle-report on Tommy's blog: bigbossredskullz

Revisiting The Beast

The Beast is the model I made for the Scandinavian painting competition The Fang in 2015. I have showed you this model before, but the old pictures are really bad. This model is a nightmare to photograph because of the pose and tentacles. But it's one of my favourite models, so it definitely deserved some photos with a better camera.

Armies on Parade 2016 part I: The King

The Nestorian Infestation project that I've been working on with Bigbossredskullz for a while now was supposed to have it's first game soon. But life things came up, and we decided to wait a while before we have the game. This is actually a good thing, because I have a lot of work left on the gaming-board. It also gives us both time to finish a Genestealer Cult and a Deathwatch Killteam each, like we originally planned.

In the last couple of weeks, I've been very inspired by the fantastic Outgard project by some of the hobbyists at Ammobunker's INQ28 forum. If you haven't checked this out, you definitely should (LINK). This project is basically set in medieval times in 40k.

This first character will be the leader of a small band of medieval looking 40k humans. They will be the spotlight of this years Armies on Parade. My plan is to make a display board for my various Daemons I've painted over the years, and have these guys in the middle, trying to fight them off.

The King is one of the most complex kit-bashes/conversions I've ever done. He is based on the lower body of a Tech-Priest Dominus, with a torso from Mechanicus Ruststalkers and long feminine legs from the Harlequin kit. His head is from a Grey Knight Terminator, with the crown of the Wight King. His arms, cane and weapon are also from the Tech-Priest Dominus. I've also added several other details from various 40k and fantasy kits. Fur, loincloth, cape and the elongation of his legs have been done with green-stuff. Electrical cables and guitar strings have also been added.

Former Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Nestorian

I've been back from the holiday for a couple of days. During this time I've managed to complete Nestorian and started to paint the members of his retinue.

The first game of the Nestorian Infestation project, that I'm working on with Bigbossredskullz, is quickly approaching. We are planning to have the first game, that will be the beginning of the story, in the end of August. I still have to paint a few more models for the project and finish the gaming board. I'm also planning to make a blog post containing all the characters that will take part in the story, both mine and the ones done by Bigbossredskullz, explaining their background and role in the story. I think the weeks before the game will be quite exciting.

First up is Nestorian, the main character of my Genestealer Cult:

Nestorian has served the holy Inquisition for decades, hunting down the tainted xenos and those who ally themselves with aliens.
But this was before he turned his back on the Imperium and joined the Genestealer Patriarch and his Cult. Nestorian believes that the Four Armed Emperer (the Genestealer Patriarch) is the true incarnation of the God Emperor. By joining the Four Armed Emperors Hive Mind, Nestorian believes that he will become a divine being, sharing his mind, body and soul with the true God Emperor.

WIP: Former Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Nestorian

I've almost finished converting Nestorian for the projct I'm working on with Bigbossredskullz!
The only thing left to do is make a smoother transition between the bionics and the bio-gun. But some cables and green-stuff flesh will fix this in no time. And then he'll be ready for paint!

Usually I like black and white pictures of WIPs better, but this picture really shows the base, which I think is cool. The base was done by applying a layer of GW crackle-paint over an already wet layer of glue and sand. I think the cracks look a lot better like this than applied directly on a flat surface.

The retinue so far. I think I'll add a couple more models. I need a close combat specialist. Maybe base it on a Genestealer Aberant?

Armies on Parade 2015 part VI: Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex and Retinue

Two of my favourite models are the two versions of Lord Inquisitor Hannibal Rex. I originally made the Inquisitor on walking throne nearly two years ago, but did some changes, and re-painted his base like the rest of the army.
I was so happy with this model, that I decided to make another version of the same character. Since the Inquisitor has lost his legs, I gave him mechanical legs in the version on foot. Both versions of the model have been featured on this blog before, but now I have some better pictures of the updated models, with their retinues.

Armies on Parade 2015

I just came back from Armies on parade 2015 in GW Oslo. Luckily I managed to complete the army in time. But I didn't have time to take pictures of the newest units before the competition. The army will be on display at the GW store for about a month, but I'll photograph the units individually when I collect it, and post them here. There were a lot of great entries this year, so I'm very happy that I got 3rd place.

While you wait for some proper pictures of the army, you can check out the ones from the event, or see it live, if you happen to be at GW Oslo.
