(Find me at 50 Watts Books.)
The Austrian painter Hans Krenn (1932–2007) was associated with the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. There's little information about him in English, and even his German-language wikipedia entry is sparse. I found this small group of paintings in the 1976 French Swiss book Vienne et le realisme fantastique. I added a few works from other sources.
Krenn's work wouldn't look out of place in the pages of early ZAP Comix (Fantagraphics will be publishing the complete run in Fall 2012). Maybe Krenn and artists like Victor Moscoso and Rick Griffin all knew each other's works, especially because Krenn lived and taught in the US in the sixties, exhibiting often in NYC (not sure if he made it to the West Coast).
A discussion on the 20th Century Forum presents some additional works.
