A bit of soldering wire, scrap card and MDF and enough superglue to make you cry.
30 minutes well spent and a little 3D effect added to a otherwise flat kit.
A journey of a man trying to fight his Ooh! Shiney! addiction while painting interesting things at the same time....
A bit of soldering wire, scrap card and MDF and enough superglue to make you cry.
And that is the last pic of the whole building for now. Hope to get most of it done by the end of the weekend so I can focus on other builds and do the final detailing on my leasure.
Calling it a bukake house might be the wrong thing for a fertility clinic.....
After a nice week with the girls and focussing on family time, the final details for the house.
Magnetised two 15x30mm MDF bases from my bases box so I can make a Afrikan and a Vietnamese sign, added a card square for the streetsign and fixed up the chimney. And that is it, she is ready for priming.
Decided to forgo electrical work and add more nests. Bird and eggs are oversized to help with painting, and the Storch nest will get extra foliage once painted.
Pig pen for Nam and AK-47 (though pork in a Islamic country.....yeah, let's ignore that bit)
15mm pigs from Peter Pig, scrap MDF base, some matches, ribbed card and plastic H0 Faller fencing, cut down a bit to fit in better with 15mm. My first time trying out wet mud and earth paste from AK that I picked up for The Last War. Works like a treat I say. Not much else to say, need to make a few more village items, but maybe better to focus on a few figgies now.
Another build for the AK Group.
Starting Monday 7th of April and running till Sunday 18th of May 20:00 GMT, giving you a full 6 weeks to plan, get kit or grab stuff from the bin, and build. The Theme will be Monument(al).
This can be for a won battle, your Dear Leader, the casualties from last years Black Friday Sale, your call. Heck, it can be a desecrated one of your favourite opponent if you like. Go wild!
Two rules:* Base size (up to) 15cm / 6 Inches square.* Picture of finished model with ruler in front of the base.
Not limited to 15mm scale btw, as I know not everyone uses that scale. So if you are for 3mm, 6mm, 10mm, 12mm, 20mm, 28mm, 1/35, go right ahead! Also no limit on the number of entries, though you might want to group them together if you make multiple.
Nothing as large as last time, I only just pulled my thumb out after finding a kit and fudging around with some ideas.Once your entry is done, make a post about it that includes 1 pic with a ruler in front of the base. Back story isn't a must, but as always, highly appreciated! Be creative.Voting will be done by all of the members (a poll that will run for a week after), and I'm still trying to sort out some sort of prize.
1 block of wood cut in 1/3rd and 2/3rd, glued together, coverd with wall filler and sanded for that concrete look, and based on 9x9 cm base from some scrap MDF.
Happy feet.
I'm aiming for usability in 15mm as well as 28mm for (maybe) future games in a Banarepublic country.
Plus a Dictator needs something Megalomanic, so.....
A long, long time ago I made these in 20mm, then destroyed all by accident when the lids depressed down into the box. Considering the time spent with decalsheets, plasticcard and braswire I was a bit gutted. A couple of weeks ago I found myself going over some of the colour prints I have with lots of signs on them and wanted to give it a go, but cheaper and quicker.
20mm round MDF base, drill a hole, glue in a toothpick. Snip off the pointy bit and smooth the underside of the base. Use a scalpel to slant the edges, add glue and sprinkle sand. Let dry, preferably not for 3 weeks like I did :P Snip the top to the required length and use a scalpel to get a nice flat surface where you want the sign. Cut out signs ( I use colour laserprints as those don't run and are very durable on regular print paper), add supeglue to the post and stick on the sign. Use a pointy toothpick to smear the excess superglue all over the back of the sign, this hardens the paper to make it really durable.
Then paint and weather to your desired needs.
Inexpensive to make and quick to replace if they have accidents.
Tonight there wasn't a online paint session but I painted anyway. I grabbed one of my primed sci-fi scatter bits and made this. Looks the part in 28mm as well as 15mm I think. 28mm figure and previously painted twin columns for scale.
I had my foamcutter out to make concrete foundation blocks for 2 power line pylons I need to paint, and I had a bit of scrap foam and some time, so why not make a bus stop for Stalker. Nice bit of cover.
The idea, a old Ukranian Bus stop image I found online from someone who photographed a lot of them. This one is nice and colourful. Most aren't. Mine won't.
Grabbed a base from my big box of bases, cut it down a bit and assembled it. Since added sand and filled in the cracks and weathered the foam a bit. Also added 2 small blocks so it has a seat of 2. if I don't trash the bench. I compressed it a bit as this is just a try out. I have another one in mind but that will take a bit more work to get done someday. First things first....
....like not making promiseses to not make new stuff. Oops. Call me inspired instead of Gunbird I say. I have a weekend without the kids, but I have yard work planned, so not sure yet how my hands will be tomorrow. Might get some paint on it, who knows.
Trying to figure what name to put on top. This is not from Chornobyl or Pripyat, and I would prefer if it was one that somewhat correlates to the facility. So maybe just a number or something.
After a very epxneisve month sofar (more about that later this month) I thought it be a good idea to visit the BnB to see if I could find some stuff suitable for my Stalker project. And maybeee look at some other stuff as well.
Well....
28mm M113, possibly as a TW:2K wreck. Maybe. It has potential.
28mm M40. Put it in in a sand bag bunker and it will work for everyone.
Older Nids make great aliens for Stargrave etc. 6 for the Ravener and 7 for the Guard was a steal.
20 for a box of Ork bikes. I can never say no to Orks (not that they would understand, but hey)
3D printed and painted T-34/76 in 28mm. Make a concrete plinth for it, weather it some more and add crap, et voila, another piece for Stalker. Hard cover for 5 euros :P
Things you never find these days, these will come in perfect for Post Apocalypse, Stalker, etc. 5 each, also a good deal.
5 euros for a sprue of Winter FJ from Warlord. Why not, if just for the conversion potential
15 euros for those Necorumda Ash Wastes Hellmites. Sans riders will make nice beats to wander the table in Stargrave or TnT.
Should fit my 15mm Bundeswehr I think. Got it for a fiver as I was staring too hard (or the seller wanted to be rid of it)
12mm static grass, should come in handy for hay etc. 2 euros for a whole bag.
28mm ruined house that should fit right in my Mordheim collection, and that for 8 euros.
Dust Nissen Hut for a fiver. Super useful kit. Stalker, Post apoc etc.
Frostgrave Nullmen. Paint white, add a glowing green wash....Glowing Ones? Fiver again.
Been eyeing the Cargo ship for a while now, so 20 for that and the dock combined, why not. Should fit Stalker as well.
Iron Hands 30K decalsheet for 5 euros, unused. I just really like Iron Hands, so....
Picked up 2 of these rather large appartment complexes at 25 each. Seller had a third, which he even discounted for me, but these are so big and will take me quite some time to prep and paint....a good 2 months each at my current pace I think. Made by Knights of Dice, now defunct as a shop IIRC. Must have cost a sheer fortune to have those shipped over from Oz, and I intend to do them right....massive job though.
Situated in in the coastal city of Aladinea, Republic of Wadiya, the factory supplies the beautiful people of Wadiya with work for 20 men and a few children. Most of the cans are exported to the Sovjet Union, where they are used to stock up air raid shelters with delicious and nutritious seafood. It is not exported to Western countries due to biased claims and market protection schemes. Listeria never killed anyone in Wadiya, so it is 110% safe. Very Aladeen. The original factory was started in the early 1900's by the French in their colonial days. This factory later burned down. In WW1 a new cannery was erected to supply the French army during the war. The building was finished in 1919 and subsequently burned down in the riots during the coup d'etat of 1927.A new factory was built shortly before WW2 and this supplied canned fish to the Axis powers. This was then bombed by the British Royal Air Force in 1944 and burned down. In what can only be described as sheer tenacity, another factory was built a few years after the war and as mentioned, supplied canned fish to the Sovjet Union. Shortly after taking these pictures, a unfortunate incident happend and the factory burned down. Again. The resulting explosion of fish pulp and oil flung the massive Red Herring sign across the bay and right onto the yacht of the Admiral of the Wadiyan Navy, Abdel Ranka, killing him and seven of his mistresses. Admiral Abdel Ranka was posthumously declared a Hero of Wadiya and mentioned in the Guiness Book of Records as the man who caught the biggest herring on record. Again, very Aladeen.
