We Love Stamping challenge - guest designer

Good morning lovely friends; I hope you've had a great start to your weekend and of course the added bonus if you live in the UK is an extra day off tomorrow for the Bank Holiday (apologies if you have to work).  The sun was actually warm and shiny here yesterday so fingers crossed it appears today; although we can rarely string two days together at the moment.

I am delighted and honoured to be a guest designer over at the We Love Stamping challenge this month so I'll be sharing a card today and also another card in two weeks time.  The theme for this month has been chosen by Lynn and is 'Vintage'.   There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs courtesy of Lisa Horton Crafts.

Now I have to admit that my heart sank when I read the theme as vintage is not really my thing but hey that is what a challenge is all about isn't it.  I used the opportunity to make a birthday card for my Father in Law for this first card and I was really happy with the finished result.
Here is my card:
A close up of the image:
Of course I decorated the inside:

I began by stamping the car image onto cream card with a brown ink; I cut it out, inked around the edges and also distressed the edges with a edge distressed (which I did to most of my edges).  I stamped the map background in the same way and again inked and distressed the edges.  I used a newspaper style patterned paper for my background and added that to my card base with double sided tape.  The postcards were cut from a piece of patterned paper, inked and distressed along with the circular piece.  The tickets were cut with two different types of dies and again inked with various colours of ink.  I stamped one with a coordinating sentiment.  The letters were die cut from brown card and stacked 3 high for some dimension.  I stamped the happy birthday sentiment with brown ink onto cream card, inked and distressed and cut out with a sentiment strip.  The hardest bit was figuring out placement on the card and I have to say it took me a good while of moving and changing my mind before I came to the final result.  Most things were added with double sided tape except the car image, sentiment and circle embellishment which were added with foam tape and the DAD letters with liquid glue.  For the inside I used the same newspaper patterned paper for my background, I stamped a postcard onto cream card and again inked and distressed it.  I die cut a few more tickets and stamped my sentiment into the centre of a cream rectangle which was inked and distressed.  Everything on the inside was adhered with double sided tape.  I think it is the perfect card for an older gentleman and although I went a bit mad with the inking and distressing I think it turned out ok.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Alphabet challenge - C is for cars
Classic Design challenge - ATG optional twist happy birthday
Cut It Up challenge - add a sentiment
The Male Room challenge - trains, planes and automobiles
As I said I will be back with my second card on the 18th May.  I hope you can play along with the challenge and I cannot wait to see all your vintage projects in the linky.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thank you so much for stopping by.

Love and hugs,

Good morning dear friends.  I’m sorry for being MIA last week but I’ve been suffering with a virus and really haven’t felt like crafting at all (shocker I know!!).  I have to say I think it’s going to be one of those viruses that lingers forever as I still don’t feel back to normal, but at least I feel like crafting now haha!  I hope you all had a great week last week, although the  weather is decidedly wintery all of a sudden isn’t it.

Passion for promarkers #80

Good morning everyone.  This week over at passion for promarkers challenge we have a very special Mega Christmas challenge which will last until 4th January 2011.  The design team have worked so hard over the year that we’ve decided to give them a little break during this busy time.  For our last challenge of 2010 we are making it easy on you – the theme is “anything goes”, so as long as you use your promarkers or aqua markers you will be in with a chance of winning our amazing prizes.  Don’t forget you can enter as many times as you like.

We’ve asked team 1 and team 2 to make samples for this challenge, but we are showing them separately.  Team 1 are showing their creations this week and team 2 will be showing their creations in two week’s time.  Now technically myself and Michele are in both teams, so Michele is sharing her card this week and I will be showing my card the next time.

However to make up for such a long break we have some amazing prizes once again.  Here is what is up for grabs:

Letraset are generously offering a set of 40 promarkers in specific craft colours stored in two promarker wallets – fab eh!

Charisma cardz challenge #47 – DT card

Good morning dear friends.  I hope you are all ok this morning…..I wonder how many of you are snowed in?  We haven’t seen any of the white stuff yet but it’s been forecast for the weekend and I don’t mind as I have a week off work next week *yay*.  I am here today to share my DT card for this week’s charisma cardz challenge.  We have a lovely, easy challenge this week, which has been set by Carol and she has chosen “one for the girls”, how fantastic is that?  I was inspired by the some odd girl challenge to try making a window card, which I’ve never done before…..so here is my card (sorry there are a few pics today):

charisma cardz #47 - one for the girls

charisma cardz #47 - one for the girls (1)

charisma cardz #47 - one for the girls (2)

charisma cardz #47 - one for the girls (3)

I have used a gorgeous image from Some Odd Girl called “snowy Mae”.  I love their quirky images and they are just a dream to colour.  The card is quite simple and when I have time I will probably add a sentiment on the inside and cover the other white side with matching paper but I didn’t have chance to do it now.  I have also used my brand new Christmas ticket sentiment stamp set and matching die cut from Whimsy Stamps.  The delivery was super quick and the postage was very reasonable considering it had to come from USA.  I will definitely be ordering from there again.

We have three brilliant sponsors this week – DigiStamp Boutique is offering one lucky winner 6 digis.

We also have Some Odd Girl sponsoring us and they are offering one lucky winner 3 digis of their choice.

Our third generous sponsor is Pizzazz Aplenty and they are offering one lucky winner this amazing prize:

I am so excited to share with you my guest designer projects for the September By the cute and girly challenge. This month’s theme is “Indian summer” and I have to say I was a little perplexed as to what to make. One of the sponsors this month is whimsy stamps and they offered some images for the DT to use on their projects. I used one of their images called “Emma swinging” on my card. I also decided to make a sweet little gift box after seeing the fantastic tutorial on the Whiff of Joy tutorial blog. Here are my projects:

Passion for Promarkers Week 4 - DT card

Wow I can't believe we are already on Week 4 over at Passion for Promarkers. This week's challenge colours are Berry Red & Royal Blue and boy did I find this a tough one! I stamped the stamping bella 'kilo watt' robot image and coloured him with the challenge colours adding shading around the outline with ice grey 1. The papers are all doodlebug and the plain cs is from the papermill shop. The red piece of card was put through the CB with the swiss dots embossing folder. What do you think of my sentiment? I created it on the pc and couldn't really think of anything wittier at the time lol! The adhesive stones are PM. A perfect card for a little boy I think. Here are a couple of close ups of the image and sentiment.

I hope you have time to join in with the challenge this week. We are lucky enough to be sponsored by Whimsy Stamps this week who are offering this gorgeous stamp as a prize - her name is princess emma:
Don't forget to check out the other DT members cards as they are all gorgeous. Thanks for stopping by.
