Hentai Heroin ... La vache! ... Cette musique envoie du lourd! ... Les accords étranges résonnant depuis le monde souterrain étaient si puissants que je suis tombé dans la pomme. Favorite track: My Muse.

Kris Faust I'm not a fan of the vocals, but man, the music is just crazy good! The freaking riffs, the dissonant piano, the occasional dramatic retro synths. At times it all sounds so unhinged and uncomfortable, but also rewarding I assure you. Songwriting is bold and creative, but the whole remains relatively accessible compared to other Through Mists releases. Add a nice clear production, and a nearly perfect runtime (almost 32 mins), and you have a great album here!

MetalMinder Really striking album. Through Mists has a pretty prolific release history, so it can be daunting at times trying to absorb the full scope of the discography. Branches feels like a stepping stone moment in this discography. Peculiar in all the right ways; technically proficient without being excessively flashy; tight, catchy songwriting. Branches is my go-to recommendation as a starting point for new listeners of Through Mists now. Highly recommended. Favorite track: Branches.

bmurator Canadian Experimental Black / Death Metal / Djent. A one man, James Aniston, project. This is very unusual & very inventive! I love the no-holds-barred experimentation taking place here! Most of the time it works perfectly & makes the songs incredibly interesting. Plus the Djent bit makes it quite unique imho. An album that reflects an artist that likes to have fun & play with music... :) This could have been longer & I need more! Recommended!! Favorite track: Catharsis.

My Muse 04:02
Enter here, my muse you make my heart sing with your golden voice, it will always ring bright and true whether in darkness or when the hateful sun banishes the cover of night it's you I'm chasing, at the ready I run with the slightest view of you in sight Burning when you call my name take you by the hand trusting this wild journey Spurning any other choice take my soul now Lusting in every single dream whether in the warmth of the beating sun or in frost kissed meadows it's you that sings, your voice cuts through the lumbering shadows Burning when you call my name take you by the hand trusting this wild journey Spurning any other choice take my soul now Lusting in every single dream Take me as I am you have my every atom don't forget, there is no end I'll always come back Burning when you call my name take you by the hand trusting this wild journey Spurning any other choice take my soul now Lusting in every single dream

Catharsis 04:20
obscure and obtuse every thought, swirling in my head! can i go, one damn day just a moment, to stop the chatter without the constant pain of existence? lifting the pain from our hearts before we go insane, this is how it starts whatever, man I guess I can suffer through this endless lie I tell myself everyday... it never ends I am my own enemy lifting the pain from our hearts before we go insane, this is how it starts guilt and greed, allowing me to feed on the essence of my own humanity guilt and greed, allowing me to feed on the essence of my own humanity I'm not even here anymore I've become an open and bleeding sore A shell of the man we used to know doesn't matter anyway if I feel my old self slipping duty isn't happiness or even a silent moment of reflection lifting the pain from our hearts before we go insane, this is how it starts heaviest thing that we lift is the weight of our souls

Branches 05:23
Let these branches grow to the sky barefoot I walk in the melting snow In my mind's eye I see eternity's afterglow stretching out into the sky they'll live long after we die cover of dark on a moonless night there is a glimmer of hope that takes flight demon in my dreams, but i won't succumb even if i have to make myself numb this is me letting go of the hate i used to hold branches growing to the sky live long after I have died gives me hope that there's a place we exist with eternal grace stretching out into the sky they'll live long after we die this is me letting go... branches growing to the sky live long after I have died gives me hope that there's a place we exist with eternal grace stretching out into the sky they'll live long after we die branches growing to the sky live long after I have died gives me hope that there's a place we exist with eternal grace

wake up and see every bleeding dawn time to clear your eyes savor the distinct taste of this moment pull from the root with dirty bleeding hands, time to clear your mind breaking away from the constant rain picking apart blisters on my brain skin and bone, sitting on my throne defiantly I stare into the void crush the bones of the ones you hate bury your insecurity behind hell's gate burn the whole forest everything will be ashes dependent on my eternal rage mocking the sky calling to heaven answered before we die a sip on my lips one more moment giving myself my ever calloused hands, time to feed the snake bend and bow, I'll take it from you everything of yours is mine now pound you into dust, able and willing burying my trust, like you begged me send a raven to my haven in this ritual of pain breaking away from the constant rain picking apart blisters on my brain devil in the details where we always hide never ending lies breaking away from the constant rain picking apart blisters on my brain breaking away from the constant rain picking apart blisters on my brain

Neophyte 11:30
From the day I knew you'd be here I made myself a vow To always guide and protect you meaningless words, from a meaningless man then you arrived and life began my boy, you'll learn, one way or another what this life has to offer face to the sun, wind at your back us at your side on this day we sing, rejoice in the birth of this future king who will stand against the shadow I'll be here for you, until the day I breathe no longer Blessings on this land, for it will feel your footsteps bowing to your command, power flows throughout your essence I'll be here for you, until the day that I am dead and buried Forever on this day, hearts reach out through the darkness anything that you say, hallows all that surround you so frail and so pure, our creation live for yourself, no replication unending vow to be eternal and ever present here forever, an end to torment my son, you'll soon discover what life has in store for you on this day we sing, rejoice in the birth of this future king who will stand against the shadow I'll be here for you, until the day I breathe no longer Blessings on this land, for it will feel your footsteps bowing to your command, power flows throughout your essence I'll be here for you, until the day that I am dead and buried Forever on this day, hearts reach out through the darkness anything that you say, hallows all that surround you blessings upon you from up high ignoring what's at the bottom though they may bring you down nothing will keep you there I guarantee it on this day we sing, rejoice in the birth of this future king who will stand against the shadow I'll be here for you, until the day I breathe no longer Blessings on this land, for it will feel your footsteps bowing to your command, power flows throughout your essence I'll be here for you, until the day that I am dead and buried Forever on this day, hearts reach out through the darkness anything that you say, hallows all that surround you I hope that I've prepared you to beat the demons back never let them in, never let them win or they'll take, even when even when you're done giving one day, it will be your turn when I'm ashes in the wind as my body burns as my body burns as my body burns

about

Branches is an album exploring the concept of family, personal growth and changes to many lives for the better

The songs were inspired by the birth of my son and facing the reality of becoming a father for the first time, what the value of different relationships means and how in the long run, you need to be as supportive of the people close to you as they are of you. Like a tree growing to the ever stretching sky, so we too change

Musically and production wise, Branches continues certain themes of the previous release, Prolific, while being it's own distinct piece. The atmosphere and riffing blend up into a dense offering that grabs you and doesn't let go. An aggressively upbeat venture, these 5 songs create an album that drives home the concept of family
